Haha, I thought she was fantastic and I had considered mention her along with Diggs. Personally I wasn't too impressed with Philippa Soo, but I figure it may be the role more than the person playing her, since Angelica is by far the more interesting Schuyler sister. But yea, I'd actually agree that seeing a close-knight original cast, who's developed the show together for a long time, is always something special and they have a special chemistry.

Yeah it's funny how opinions differ! Phillipa was actually my favourite in the cast (but I prefer Eliza to Angelica...which may be partly down to Phillipa's interpretation). Renee was a massive improvement on her performance in the filmed version of the closing performance of Rent where I thought she was actually pretty bad. My issue with her is she can look a bit deer-in-the-headlights and her dialogue sometimes is very affected. For instance, in Helpless when she has the 'my SISter' 'I'll leave you TO it' exchange, it comes out very unnatural for me. But luckily Hamilton is mostly sung/rapped-through so it wasn't too much of a bother. And yep exactly on your second point. As well as just getting to see it in New York is special, because of how much of it is set in New York and is about New York.

I could've sworn I signed up to priority booking but for the life of me can't find an email anywhere!!! So will wait and see if I get any reminder, if not then I'll just wait for general sale, obviously!

Oh I agree with the "deer in headlights"-look actually, I noticed it more when she turned up in a television show for a few episodes. Perhaps I didn't notice that much in Hamilton because it was last year before I got my first pair of glasses. It's done wonders for seeing people on stage better (ahem). I just really like Angelica as a part as I love sassy parts.

And yeah I love sassy parts usually too, I heard a sneaky audio of Satisfied before I saw it the first time (which also was before the cast recording was out) and had seen a small clip of The Schuyler Sisters and was sure Angelica was gonna be my favourite. But then when I actually saw it I just had an emotional breakdown over Eliza haha. I probably will like Angelica more as I see different people playing her, but I've grown too fond of Eliza as a real life person (weird to say about someone that has been dead for 200 years) to ever prefer her now I think! I can never get over how many family-deaths she went through in the space of five years (think it was both parents, two siblings, husband, son and a clinically insane daughter), yet still managed to bring up 7 children in poverty, as well as all the other stuff mentioned in the finale. Quite amazing.

Yea, Eliza was an amazing woman IRL, that's for sure. Her portray in the show is a bit too much "suffering wife" for my liking. But I'll wait and see how I feel about both parts when I see others doing them. Sometimes my whole perception of a part changes when it's in the hands of someone else.

Eliza's a less showy role and in a more supportive position by the simple fact of the show being about Alexander, but if you take time out to focus on her, you realise there's a LOT going on. I don't think it's possible to get to the end of the show without falling for her.

Before this thread fills with posts on buying London tickets, I wanted to tell you about my experience in San Francisco. The first Monday was American Express presale. You get your number in line from a program from Queue It. The number is random just before opening time. I was about 21,000 and got shut out just before my time to buy, which was about 5 hours after opening. If you enter your email address, you keep your place in line and get an email with a link back when it is almost your time. The next Monday when it opened to the public, I was about number 28,000 and got in to buy 4 hours later. The website had given an update message that tickets were pretty available beginning May 23 for the run from March 10 through August. I was looking for the open-captioned performances on May 7 or June 21 because I have hearing loss. I got two tickets back of the orchestra for June 21. I am very happy, but wondering why only two captioned performances.

So when tickets go on sale are forum members going to book for the first performances or wait until it's settled in? I want to see it at the beginning but think I will try to get a ticket for say a week in just in case first previews get cancelled which has happened with one or two shows recently.

I dont see a reason for the first previews to be cancelled- considering the blocking is "locked" because I suppose its more or less exactly the same as the other productions. I think usually the first previews are cancelled from constant changes to the blocking/book/score leading to certain scenes to be entirely unrehearsed by the first preview. So I think the first previews are a safe bet with this one.

I'd have to say that both times I saw the show I found Renée Elise Goldsberry mesmorising - everytime she was on stage. I literally could not watch anyone else but her. That confident, layered performance, and that of Leslie Odom Jr were the ones that impressed me the most - though I'd have to admit only subsequently have I come to appreciate Daveed Diggs (for his rap skills more than his acting talents). Philippa Soo has a lovely voice and talented though she obviously is there was nothing in her Elisa that I felt couldn't be replicated by any number of accomolised musical theatre actresses that have a decent belt. I personally preferred Javier's sexy flirtatious brash Hamilton To Lin's portrayal of LMM. Andrew Rannells's King George was total pouty perfection in everyway.

I'm less afraid that the earlier performances may be cancelled and more afraid that they'll be filled with people who've waited so long to see the show that they're now somewhat unable to hold in their enthusiasm. I might try and get in for late previews, but even those will probably have their fair share of unbridled enthusiasm. (Nothing wrong with enthusiasm, but please bridle it during performances so everyone around you can enjoy the show for itself rather than spending the time wishing for a sinkhole to open beneath your seat.)

You might have a good point there.

Well if the squealing girls at 'In the Heights' on the night LMM was in are anything to go by, I do worry what the Hamilton audience will be like. Yes, both these shows have lots of words in them, but you don't have to sit there mouthing every single one of them, pulling expressions of pure ecstasy, and generally having a fangasm, to prove how well you know the show. Just sit down, sit still, and watch the bloody thing!

I saw the show in previews and a year ago, when the audiences were pretty enthusiastic, but also tame. (The cast recording wasn't even out the first time I went). I talked to someone who saw it much more recently (one of Rory O'Malley's first shows, I think) and he said he enjoyed it, but it was like a rock concert, and not always in a good way.

I would like to see Arun Blair-Mangat cast. I haven't decided in which part, but I thoroughly enjoyed his performance in In The Heights.

This sounds like going one step further than Cursed Child? Excellent if it works. 110k people on the presale list... Do we know how many were on the Cursed Child list?
