Isn't there always a 'no commentary' option these days? Yes its broadcast live on YouTube without commentary these days.

A new Eurovision comedy for London's Union Theatre. Not as batsh*t crazy sounding as Jonathan Harvey's A Thong for Europe, in Liverpool, but could be a fun night out. uniontheatre.biz/show/nul-points/

...and another being produced by Above The Stag, being presented at Wonderville, Haymarket. This was on before (last year?) - I didn't see it, but the one review I could find liked it. abovethestag.com/eurovision-your-decision

I would have gone for someone like Michael Mcintyre over Graham Norton. From seeing him live, I'd say he's very skilled at finding the humour in unplanned occurrences and very sharp. Graham Norton is a bit predictable and his humour often relies on cattiness, and is not so good/clever off script. Of course, Mcintyre is a white, heterosexual male, so probably that disqualifies him amongst those who decide these things. Or maybe he was approached and not interested. I couldn’t think of anything worse than Michael McIntyre hosting Eurovision.

I was worried it would be AJ Odudu after the draw. I just can't watch anything she does without muting the volume.

I take it Alison Hammond was not available? I did worry they’d go for the ubiquitous, untalented and over indulged Alison Hammond. Ditto Rylan Clarke.

Tickets go on sale next week. 9 different shows bookable. Anyone planning on trying for tickets? I am going to have a go but don't hold out much hope. I'm going to try for a rehearsal rather than the live televised show to give me a slightly better chance. I belive it will be impossible to get accommodation in Liverpool so will need to stay outside. As I have never been to that area before can anyone suggest a town thats nearby and accessible by public transport to stay?

I will also be trying for tickets to a rehearsal which is what I went to in Tel Aviv and it was great fun, but I also hold out very little hope! My mum lives on the Wirral so I don't need to find anywhere to stay, but Chester is easily reached via a cheap 45 minute Merseyrail journey and anywhere on the Wirral within walking distance to a Merseyrail station is probably worth considering, though harder to find accommodation. There's a nice marina at West Kirby, beachfront walk at Hoylake (which must have accommodation because of the Royal Open golf which is held there periodically) and Port Sunlight is pretty with a nice art gallery and museum. We will be trying to get 3 tickets for the final - I know we have absolutely no chance of getting them but youngest is desperate to go so I will at least try. I have no idea where we would stay if we got them, but have a vague plan of booking accommodation in Manchester and travelling over…

Two lives We're the only ones awake in the whole universe And I don't know your desert well yet Maybe it's in a place in my heart Where the sun is always dull Where I sometimes lose you But if I want I'll catch you We are stuck in such a time That lifts up the streets With the sky one step from here We're the monsters and the fairies I should call you Saying to you the things that I feel But I've run out of excuses And I don't have defenses anymore We're a book on the floor In an empty house That looks like ours Coffee with lemon Against the hangover You look like a blurry photo And we screwed up another night Outside the club And thank godness we did If this is the last Song and then the moon will burst I will be there telling you that you're making a mistake, you're wrong and you know that The music doesn't get here And you don't sleep And where will you be Where do you go When the life, then, exaggerates All the rushes, the slaps and the mistakes you do When something stresses you out I know anyway, you never sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep What rounds make two lives We're the only ones awake in the whole universe Screaming some of the anger on a rooftop Because no one feels like that Because no one watches the movies anymore The flowers in your room My metal shirt We're a book on the floor In an empty house That looks like ours We're lost among people So many words Without ever getting an answer And we screwed up another night Outside the club And thank godness we did If this is the last Song and then the moon will burst I will be there telling you that you're making a mistake, you're wrong and you know that The music doesn't get here And you don't sleep And where will you be Where do you go When the life, then, exaggerates All the rushes, the slaps and the mistakes you do When something stresses you out I know anyway, you never sleep You turn the light off even if you don't feel like We sit in the dark shrouded only In the sound of the voice Beyond the madness that dances in all the things Two lives, look at this mess If this is the last Song (and then the moon will burst) I will be there telling you that you're making a mistake, you're wrong and you know that The music doesn't get here I know anyway, you never sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep What rounds mаke two lives Two liveѕ

They appear to have limited access to the queue to one per Ticketmaster account, so attempts to game the system with multiple Google accounts aren't working. Totally fair, and I'm surprised that isn't done by other companies. However, this being the hopeless Ticketmaster, there are server errors all over the place.
They only seem to be numbering queue positions up to 2000. Mine just has 2000+, so could be millions ahead of me. Don't rate my chances.

I'm trying for the grand final preview rather than the live final. But I'm not expecting to get anything to be honest. Anyway passes a couple of hours doesn't it.

Must have been lucky but got straight through and got tickets for the Saturday Grand Final preview at 1pm. Which works perfectly me for me as I won't need to find any accommodation in Liverpool and can be home in time to watch the actual live show that evening

Thats the one I'm trying for and the time bar is about half way along now. Can I ask, does it allocate you seats or can you choose your own?

I rushed through it so this might not be fully correct but from what I remember it gave me a choice of standing or seated and then it allocated me seats from there

Well I got through the queue for the Thursday afternoon Semi-Final Preview. Standard seats and standing appear completely sold out, but there’s plenty of availability for the premium hospitality seats. Unfortunately they are out of my price range so I won’t be going. So close!

I was able to find my real queue position in the HTML source. It was 63,000-odd. My progress bar was one quarter of the way across when the pop-up message announced the Grand Final had sold out, so you probably had to be in the first 10,000 to get a ticket. CORRECTION: Just seen Tweets from people around 1,600 to 1,800 in the queue who failed to get through in time to get Grand Final tickets. My other half got through for an earlier show after twenty minutes, but that was already sold out too. If you then asked to look at other shows, you were put to the back of the queue. Interestingly, my queue-id on laptop 1 was identical to my queue-id on laptop 2, and thus identical queue positions, so they were wise to multiple devices as well as multiple browser accounts. To game this, you would have needed multiple Ticketmaster accounts, probably with different home addresses, and credit cards linked to each address. So, a partially fair process, but can be gamed by roping in extended family members to try for you. An actual lottery, with a given timeslot to buy for winners, would have been better, and would have avoided wasting lots of people's time and falsely raising expectations. Could have done without all the "500 internal server error" messages too. If you had two sessions each trying to buy a different Eurovision event, you did get two independent queue-id's and two queue numbers, according to the experience of my husband.
