The MD took a bow in the circle and indicated to the side of the stage- so assuming they are there!

I managed to get front row of the stalls in the lottery so seeing this in a couple of weekends’ time. Loved Charlie in Mary Poppins so looking forward to it after the glowing comments from the first couple of shows.

I can't wipe the smile off my face! That was the easiest 5 stars I've ever had the pleasure of awarding. Having never seen a production of this before, I had no idea what to expect. To say I'm on cloud nine is an understatement. Just go! You will not be disappointed.

I'm actually a little worried now that I opted for £25 side stalls seats. From the picture the view looks as though it will be seriously restricted or at the very least a terrible angle for big production dance heavy numbers!

Just been and sat in M66 and view was absolutely fine and well worth the £25! Only missed about 30seconds of the whole show on the right hand side. Most is played front and centre. If you are in a similar seat you should be fine

I very much enjoyed this from the centre of the front row last night. I did see this at Chichester, but Charlie Stemp was away at the time. I think Charlie elevates this to another level. I also feel this works much better here than on a thrust stage.
It is an easy 5* for the quality of the performances. On top of that, they have so many of my favourite people in the ensemble. It is a long show (finish time around 22:20 and it takes a while to get out of the Gillian Lynne - also the up elevator is out of service). There are some parts of Crazy For You that just never grab my attention, but that's not down the actors.
The stage is pretty high, so you do miss things from the front row. I could sit up straight and just about catch everything, with the exception of feet. I could tell that there were people sat near me who were missing a lot more. I think the front row is worth it for the close up view (especially with lottery pricing) but a lot of people would prefer to sit a few rows back.
Quite a few stagey people in yesterday too. I nearly walked into Jordan Crouch (who at 6'3" is hard to miss), who as coincidence would have it, I saw play Bobby Child a few years ago. So nice to see him enjoying his evening off from 42nd Street.
A well deserved standing ovation near the end of Act 1 and at the end.

So pleased to hear such positive audience feedback from the previews already.
I’m going next month but will have to exchange my dates due to train strikes.
Does anyone know if the two leads have any regular scheduled days off?

Went to book this for three weeks time and was slightly shocked by how badly it seems to be selling.
Sound like it ticks all the right boxes so hopefully the fabled word of mouth will spread and things will pick up.
(Though show's successes seem to be written in the stars before the first performance increasingly and poorly selling shows turning things around seems very much the exception rather than the rule in 2023. I guess time will tell. Fingers crossed).

I wonder if there's too many choices for a classic musical the momen, given we have Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma AND now Crazy for You.
It deserves to be sold out though

It's not a well known title though, outside theatre fans. Those other classics have also had major and classic Hollywood movies that people will have gotten to know over the decades and across generations. Songs are deeply ingrained in pop culture.
The last big production was 30 years ago, and the generations who knew and loved gershwin have/are dying out and today I'd say he is less well known.
Hopefully the reviews and word of mouth will help and things will pick up.

I’m not of that ‘older generation’ (quite!) yet, but I loved the Gershwin music in An American In Paris so looking forward to hearing more in this.

It's an oddity really, as it only dates back to 1992 (and it's a jukebox/greatest hits type musical). The fact it's a modern musical, made to look old fashioned, is a strength (to me), but I can see where the appeal would be more limited elsewhere.
Hopefully this will pick up with reviews and word of mouth, but I've been winning the ticket lottery twice a week, and there are offers out there. It's depressing really that this is selling even worse than Cinderella.

I'm early 40s and like gershwin music, but that's only because that was passed down to me. And as a theatre fan I knew crazy for you. The wider more casual theatre goers, probably not

I was surprised to see they didn't stunt cast with Bobby's mother or Irene - I thought that would be a sure fire way of getting bums on seats.
Anyway, we can only hope that the (hopefully unanimous) excellent reviews will be enough to get people to see it.

I hope sales pick up, it is so depressing when a show of this calibre appears to be struggling to find the audience it so richly deserves.

It’s been running in the West End for a week…plus people go away on weekends in the summer.
Give it time…Charlie isn’t a household name so why would someone shell out money for a show or star that they haven’t heard of.
The reviews will likely be stellar and hopefully will turn the tide but it’s not necessary to have all this doom and gloom so early on. Give it time, friends…we will get there.

I think the issue with a show like Crazy For You, which is basically a plot fitted around Gershwin songs from other shows, is that its a very old fashioned. Even with Charlie Stemp in, whos a name in theatre circles and not much beyond, i think the show will struggle, but then again its in for the summer, so hopefully it will appeal to them as a big, old fashioned song and dance show.

Is this not the kind of show where people catch coach down to London and make an event of it?

Saw this tonight, what pure unadulterated joy! Lots of humour, great songs, fantastic dancing. In all the chaos and craziness of the world, sometimes this kind of show is needed. If I can, I'll be back.
