Big commercial tv spots would massively help this, but outside of the Royal Variety, BGT & Strictly they just don’t exist any more. There’s no show currently scheduled for the evening of the Royal Variety for them. Either they’ve already been asked or they assume they will be… Is it not just getting kicked out for ‘Skys Edge’ or is that a way away?

They only booked the GL for 30 weeks, the run was only ever going to be June-Jan

More than enough time to attract a following but not enough to gain anything from a RVP appearance, unless its straight out on tour afterwards.

No - what I mean is that Crazy for You just doesn’t have a scheduled performance the evening of the Royal Variety. They have a performance the day before and after.

Saw this yesterday evening.
We were sat near the back of the (raked) stalls and could see very well. As far as we could see, the Stalls, at least, were full.
It’s a great production, light hearted and fun.
Charlie Stemp somehow manages to be graceful and like a strip of elastic-he’s so fluid in his movements. All the cast were excellent. .
Well worth going to see.
Broadway next stop!

Noticed some new big tube ads for this at Baker Street this evening. Looked snazzy. Perhaps these will draw the crowds in. There has been one on the platform at Putney station for weeks but not as glitzy as this one!

Just had a great theatre week. Operation Mincemeat on Tuesday and Crazy for You on Friday. 2 of the best shows I have seen this year. I'd give this 6 stars if I could with the extra star for coming home with a smile on my face. I didn't get a chance to see this at Chichester but the show looks as if it was made for this theatre. Loved the sets, costumes, lighting and so nice to hear a big orchestra playing those amazing Gershwin songs, one after the other, it was pure heaven. Great cast but this is Charlie Stemp's show. It could have been written just for him. You just can't keep your eyes off him when he is on stage (which is most of the time). I have always been a fan of his but this is, by far, his best role to date. The dancing was insane and such a great comedy actor and lovable character. How he is going to do 8 shows a week is beyond me. Carly Anderson was perfect as Polly Baker and I loved Tom Edden and Bela Zangler. The slapstick routine between Charlie and Tom in act 2 was comic genius. The big dance numbers were fantastic and performed by an amazing ensemble. I was sat in row E of the stalls which is actually the 3rd row as A and B have been taken away. Perfect view from there. Stage did seem very high so not sure how much you would miss in the front row. The other great thing about sitting in the front stalls is that they are on the revolve (not used in this show) but as its not a solid floor then when they are tap dancing your seat bounces up and down a bit in time to the music. I loved it. This is a show I will be making repeat visits too and its the most feelgood show I have seen since 42nd Street.

I was lucky enough to attend yesterdays's Press Night. The show is a pure unmitigated 5 star joy from start to finish. Susan Stroman's endlessly inventive choreography is a wonder but wouldn't be so without a thrilling chorus to execute the complex and pulse-racing musical numbers.Charlie Stemp is pretty damn breathtaking throughout the evening. We always knew he was a terrific dancer, but here he is given some extraordinary choreography to match his formidable talents, his singing is stronger than it has ever been, but the real surprise is just how easily funny he is - the physical comedy as well the verbal. A giddy thrilling performance. Tom Edden as Zanger is downright hilarious and a master class of comic timing. Could their be two performance Oliviers in this show's future? The lavish design in all three departments illustrates what happens when designers and a director trust each other and collaborate ob one vision. Cheers all around!

I just booked £45 seat (normally £95) in center stalls on the “senior summer offer” for over 60s. It’s being offered on selected performances (you have to scroll around a bit). A great bargain, I would pay five times this to see it in NYC.

I saw it last Wednesday matinee and it was great fun.
Spotted Charlie Stemp with his mum at the Lowlander before the performance.

Been reading lots of reviews and everyone is a rave review for Charlie Stemp. He must be so proud to read nothing but praise (which he so deserves).
I also notice we are now on 2 1 star votes. Such a shame that those people don't put their comments in the thread as it would be really interesting to see why they only gave it that score.

I love this show but as someone who did an am-dram version recently I’m dying to know what people think of the song Stiff Upper Lip. It’s a fun song and the Fodors are good characters but (at least in my opinion) it’s such a bizarre interlude that literally goes nowhere. It is worth the ‘French Revolution’ joke at the end though

Really enjoyed the matinee. Charlie is on fire - it’s as good as Chichester and even tighter. Got a side view seat for £15 in row M - absolute bargain (was M70, wouldn’t wanna to much further round though). Audience were loving it.

I still don't get why they call this a lottery, though. Everybody who signed up gets the link, and the tickets are on a first-come first-served basis, right?

Well I think the info text includes a reference to ‘if you’re selected…’ you’ll receive the email and can buy the tickets, but so far I’ve received the email every Mon and Fri, so they’re probably flexing how many emails are sent based on sales and number of sign ups. Perhaps right now they’re just emailing everyone who’s signed up! I suspect the seats available are better in the Friday lottery (upcoming week) than the Monday one (next four weeks) as they’ve got a better idea of what they need to sell for imminent performances. Just a theory though as of course it’s only been running a few weeks.

Quick question about the lottery system. I am looking to book for the last week of September. How far in advance can you book for if you win the Monday draw if I entered the draw at the start of Sept or does everyone who enters gets a link anyway? Thanks for any info.

Monday draw you can book for 4 weeks ahead although as previous poster mentioned, they seats aren’t as good as the Friday draw for the following week. Premium stalls being sold for £20 today for next week shows whereas a few weeks ago on the Monday draw they were only offering side/back stalls for £20.

If you can hold out until the Friday before the date you want to go then based on how this has worked so far that’ll give you the best chance to get great seats at lottery prices. I’d sign up now and keep an eye on how it’s working so you can decide whether to buy at four weeks out or the week before. Bear in mind if you’re after Saturday tickets they’re in the Fri draw 8 days ahead of the show rather than booking on the Fri for the following day.
