I’m underwhelmed. The band sounds small

On Tidal it ends on "If I Were A Bell" (Cedric Neal) - the last of three Hi-Hi Boys tracks. My bad, I meant ending Act I. Two recordings I have end it like the show does with 'I'm a mission doll!' so surprised me to have it end with INBiL. ETA: I will say, they really missed a trick recording it all in a studio instead of live. Some pick-ups like Cabaret, sure, but it really lacks that energy and it all sounds a tad...polished, sanitised?

So happy to get, not only a real fun recording ov every song and reprise, but also the bonus tracks of the boy band and Marshia's Luck Be A lady. Always feel spoilt when its a full recording like this, so exciting as not everyone puts the money in to do this so very happy they have!

Listened to it more yesterday and still very disappointed. Just don’t think that Cedric Neal delivers Sit Down well enough. Too many vocal tricks (and all too modern). Without the staging- it just falls flat on the recording.
Glad to have it though for Celinde and Andrews glorious voices.

Have to say I think this is the best cast recording of Guys and Dolls out there. Think it's superbly engineered and the band and vocals sound fantastic. Love the current arrangements.
Also great that it's complete and has extras.
Easily my fave since the National recording from the 80's with Julie Covington and Julia McKenzie - which is iconic but the band sounds a bit dated now. (In fact I think this is the first UK cast recording since then? Someone correct me if I'm wrong).
I also think this new one has more energy than the "new" Broadway cast recording (from quite a while back!)
Finally it's just wonderful that a UK revival GETS a cast recording cos my God we have a terrible record at this in the UK.....

Marisha Wallace has just said on X that the recording is designed to be listened to with headphones. I'll give it a go as listening to some of it earlier on speaker didn't sound as good as seeing it live.

This recording definitely won't replace the 1995 London Studio Cast Recording which is the complete score with all the play-off music plus the songs exclusive to the film. But it's nice to have this one as a more modern take on the material for when I'm in the mood and I really do love those bonus tracks.

The '95 recording's an absolute gem and the one that got me into the show. It's nice to have the new additions preserved though like the new Overture, Runyonland and Havana.

And moving away from the cast recording, I was in the standing area for the Thursday matinee thanks to a very good deal. I've not seen this since the start of the run, but I found this show much more pleasant, mostly because the standing area was nowhere near as crowded, the staff were much less heavy handed moving people, and so everything was more polished.
Various covers on, most notably George Ionnides as Sky (and Owain Arthur has been on as Nathan for a while). Both great together. One fan was very keen to get the seat where he'd get a close encounter with Marisha. They've added one of my favourites, Iroy Abesamis, to the cast too.
I don't remember so many of the audience getting wet during my last visit.
Lots of musical theatre students in too, helping to make the whole theatre seem filler. This is a great show, but a harder sell than it was. With that said, I'll certainly be back, and would have been back sooner had I known the floor area would be more pleasant than during my first visit.

Dr Tom That was exactly my experience when I went to a midweek matinee a few months back. Sparser crowd than for the two Shakespeare plays, and a much better experience for it. Being able to move about freely makes standing for three hours much more bearable.

Want to see this again when Daniel Mays returns.
Love the cast recording - all the other's on spotify are subpar so nice to finally have a good one.
Love the Cedric Neal covers at the end.

Yes and with Andrew Richardson leaving the cast the same day Danny Mays returns to it. But AR's replacement has had lots of practice in the role.

Andrew is destined for stardom, no doubt about it.

I saw George as Sky in August and thought he was really good - just as good as Andrew (I preferred George vocally).

Currently moving stuff round in my diary so I can get back to see Andrew before he's done - as others have said, star is born performance

This news crept out (well to me it did anyway) - promptly booked for next Friday so that my eldest daughter can have one last Sky-sigh over Andrew.

I think he's on holiday this week. Saw it on Monday. George Ioannides was on as Sky Ah, right - do you know if this means he has played his last performance already, or will he be on next Friday 13th Oct? Don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised. I would have asked if I knew he was leaving so soon. Some people were asking staff about him which is when I overheard that he was on holiday. It's a bit strange to take holidays when you are about to leave, so he could have accumulated days to leave earlier. I have been checking WestEnd Understudies but there's no info on this.
I was excited to see George Ioannides anyway as I had previously enjoyed his performance in On Your Feet.

Will they ever get another production on at The Bridge?
