Every time I'm willing to come off the fence regarding Six, I get chased back on. I just don't warm enough to that show, and WEL didn't help. Ignore the crazy fangirls and give Six a chance - it shouldn't be calling itself a musical but it is a good show, very strong songs, a witty script and a fun celebration of girl power. It's worth 75 minutes of anyone's time I think 😀

I do wonder if producers/casts will start to insist on better sound mixing in both the videos and on stage on the day or they will decline to take part.

Have you heard the other 5 girls' songs, or either of the opening or closing numbers? Cleeves' song is probably my least favourite as well but I wouldn't write the whole show off because of it.

West-End-Live sound is often poor. Many productions reverted to using hand held microphones.

I specifically said to my late best friend Kristy (a wheelchair user - so at least we got space for her to operate and despite some drunk idiot in his 40's kicking her wheels out of spite) I was keen to hear something from Six so I knew whether or not I/we should go and see it. Unfortunately that was what I got. It didn't exactly make me want to run home and buy the soundtrack. It didn't make me want to see it. And that is the whole point of West End Live.

The point of Six is that each queen has her own personality and style, and their songs reflect that. Few people will like all 6 songs equally I suppose as they are so different, but you should like at least one of them! Jane Seymour's is a ballad, Catherine Howard is pop, others are R&B... it's a good mix across all of them. But if you weren't keen then just don't go!

I'm sure I'll see it in due course. I was just saying the WEL was essentially someone shouting. So, Robert, tell me - is it a musical?

Who said I was upset? I'm just answering your question!
In my eyes, no, it's not a musical. The songs are autobiographical but it's effectively just a very entertaining concert giving an alternative viewpoint on some well-known historical characters, and ultimately rewriting their stories for a happier ending. It's a strong, entertaining, uplifting show which thoroughly deserves all of its success, but it's not a musical in the strictest sense.

Every time I'm willing to come off the fence regarding Six, I get chased back on. I just don't warm enough to that show, and WEL didn't help. I wasn't bothered at all from what I'd heard on the radio (though it had started to grow on me a bit) but a friend wanted to go. It's much better live, apart from one song in the middle which is truly atrocious. It isn't a musical, but it's a perfectly fun and witty 75 minute musical experience.

Is the song in the middle the one about her bloody castle...

I was surprised it wasn’t ticketed this year, if only to make some money for one of the charities supporting performers throughout COVID. It’s definitely outgrown Trafalgar Square though. Couldn’t they move it to Horse Guards parade? It’s just sat there empty most of the time and a stones throw from Trafalgar Square so shouldn’t be a hardship for casts. I suspect the Queen wouldn't want that much singing on a Saturday and Sunday outside her house!

The Palace is a long way from Horse Guards the difficult neighbours will be the residents of 10 and 11 Downing street whose gardens back onto it and haven't shown much desire to help commercial theatre in recent months!

I think it helps if you remember that SiX (as it was when I saw it) was a university musical theatre society show for the Edinburgh Fringe. The songs are... not quite take-offs, but very much "in the style of...". I would say before it picked up its impetus and lots of teenage fans it probably most appealed to people born in maybe the 90s? With songs inspired by Avril Lavigne, Adele etc.
