As someone who’s not into football and isn’t English I don’t get the fuss. If it hadn’t have been for some poor guy scoring an own goal they’d have gone out, yet it’s being painted as some incredible victory.
The behaviour of the fans reminded me of the yobs we used to see on the news 20/30 years ago. And then you’ve got Boris and Priti posing in their England shirts. 🤮 You just know that they’re exactly the kind of people they would be using those water cannons on if they were allowed.

The only thing ..if England wins ..please not again by a fake goal as in 1966...
The depressing point as a German is...if the german team who played trash in the game vs England would have been coached by Klopp or Tuchel they would have won 6:0 or higher.

I think some credit has to be paid to the players and team and Gareth Southgate in the way he and the team has handled itself. I am no football fan but have watched the England matches. They are trying to be more inclusive and if it brings some joy to the country after what we have been through then who are we to criticise. As to behaviour of fans, then no bad behaviour can be condoned and UEFA are investigating the laser incident and the booing which I totally disagree with during National Anthems. On a separate issue I wonder if anyone special will sing the National Anthems before the final on Sunday?

I find it a bit hard to get behind any of this when I see football fans packing into stadiums, unmasked, then acting like animals on the streets afterwards. Meanwhile there are still restrictions on daily life in this country, my choir isn't permitted to sing together, and theatres are only allowed to be half full of masked people. Oh, and apparently the football is partly responsible for increased case numbers. Not something I feel like celebrating.

I wont be watching it as I am not a fan of football but I do wish England good luck as they have played well so far from what I gather and a win would really boost morale in the country. However do bear in mind it is going to clash with The Show Must Go On which is on Sky Arts at the same time so I would imagine most people will be watching that rather than the football so the audience numbers will be very low

If only the damn football team had gone out in the first round.

I mean good for the team doing great and everything.
But the fans? Wow. Climbing on buses and causing absolute chaos because their team won? Can you imagine what would happen if this happened at any other non-football event? Would the papers be so happy about it all then? Booing the other team's national anthem and shooting lasers at their goalkeeper?
I don't see why football is on this ridiculous pedestal above everything else.

I've dipped in and out, mainly whilst doing the ironing, because you can look up for exciting bits, and get something useful done the rest of the time!
I like this team, I couldn't tell you much about them individually, but they really seem to enjoy playing. I'm pleased they're doing so well, and I'll watch on Sunday.
I'm not so keen on some of the fans though!

I’m pleased they’re doing well too. I’m not interested in footy but I watched the extra time the other night snd it was exciting.
There’s a lot of generalising about fans. Yes some of them are horrible but the majority aren’t.

My landlady's daughter came from West London to North London in the wee small hours after the last game and said streets everywhere were littered with overturned tables and chairs, broken glass, etc.

As far as I'm concerned the England team should be thrown out of the tournament for the laser incident and booing the Danish anthem. As well as being completely irresponsible about Covid precautions and booing England for taking the knee (fans should have been banned for both of those after the first match!)
Harsh on the team of course, but it's the only thing that would teach the so-called "fans" a lesson.

England (come on boys) Squad cannot he held, because of a lot of knobheads. With the amount of derision and hostile atmosphere being met over taking the knee, I think the England Squad are very brave to do so. I support taking the knee. For once It makes me proud to be English.
