I'm just happy that they cast a black guy to play a black girl's father. I really can't wait for this!!!

Forgive my ignorance (because genuinely I don't know) but has a female actress of colour even been cast as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady in the West End before?

Tried to book tickets for a (birthday present) date in May last night, when most of the tickets left are £105 each, but the website kept dropping out half of the payment page, so couldn’t purchase them.
Tried again today, only to see the same seats are now £245 each, to include some sort of dining! (There are others on the site, also presumably including dining(?) now £270 each! )
So, I rang the Box Office and asked about the original seats and was told that the prices/offer had been changed over night and if I had bought them last night, I would have been contacted today to have them moved! The Box Office person said the dining tickets had been instigated by the Production Company(?)

Just use the ever reliable TodayTix. No £245 seats showing there… the most expensive is an eye watering £172.

These shows deserve to fail with such exorbitant prices and poor customer service. Greed, sheer greed. Of course the irony is that they’ll be flogging them off at £25 a go on the day when they can’t sell them.

Ok not to be racist and I am thrilled that black women are getting more visibility but how would she be mistaken for Hungarian royalty?

It’s as likely or unlikely as dancing dustmen so let’s just run with it for what it is. a musical fantasy.

Surely it depends whether the character is black or whether it's just a colourblind/concious casting, like Frozen. The races of the characters (and their mismatch between childhood and adulthood!) aren't mentioned at all, and they don't necessarily need to be here either.
They didn't change the "Brown, Brown, Brown" line when Eliza was a redhead at Lincoln Centre so I don't think they'll be making any changes this time.

Yeah it all depends on the directors vision and how historically accurate they are going or not. Most stuff is easy to suspend disbelief.
That said me and my girl at Chichester was jarring having Jacqueline singing about being blonde but for some reason being brunette in that particular production

I heard something the other week that had never occurred to me before. If you were asked why it was called My Fair Lady you would probably refer to the famous nursery rhyme London Bridge Is Falling Down which ends with the line “My fair lady”. However that last line was originally Mayfair lady sung with a cockney accent. So the show should really be called Mayfair Lady.
Tell me you’re not mind-blown 🤯

I've received from two different ticket agencies a promo code for this show "MFLUPGRADE". Supposedly reduces ticket prices to between £30 and £75 up to 9 June, excluding some matinees.
Don't think it's exclusive but I can't get it to work on any date or price. The code is accepted but the prices don't change. Has anyone managed to book with this code ?

Don't think it's exclusive but I can't get it to work on any date or price. The code is accepted but the prices don't change. Has anyone managed to book with this code ? TheatreMonkey has the answer. I tried it and it seems to work. "Buy best available £85 stalls (ground level), £85, £70, £60 and £45 dress circle (first tier) and £70, £60 and £45 upper circle (second tier, second highest in venue) tickets (from agency / offer allocation) reduced to £65 / £55 / £40 / £30 (£75 / £65 / £55 / £40 Friday and 04th June 2022) each at all Monday to Friday performances ONLY. Note that seat prices may vary and original £85 tickets may increase to £90 at some performances. The system will advise at time of enquiry. Surtitles are not visible from all seats, and most upper circle and balcony seats have limited legroom - please be aware before booking. Seat information. Some dates are excluded - including 12th May Evening and the afternoon performances on 19th May and 26th May 2022 - the system will advise at time of enquiry. To book, select your performance. On the "select area" page, IGNORE the "I have a ticket code" below "SELECT AREA" and continue to the next page to select your seats. After the donations page, on the "Basket" page enter "MFLUPGRADE" into the "I have a promotion code" box to the right of your order summary and click "APPLY." The discount will appear in your order."

As I predicted, the exorbitant, greedy prices - now on sale from £20 on TodayTix because they’re not selling. Enough said.
