I didn't see Nica Burns on ITV last night, but I did hear her talking to Nick Ferrari on LBC this morning. She was confident that most Nimax theatres would be reopening in May, if not with their resident shows, then with the type of productions she specialises in. I hope they reopen as soon as they can, I was thrilled by Nimax’s enthusiasm and great customer service when I kept having to move shows (and will again!)

Has anything been mentioned about masks? It seems a sensible idea to keep the requirement for masks in non socially distanced events/venues like full theatres to mitigate the risks a little bit more. I've not read too much only the basics so I don't know if the June date also means the end of mask wearing in general? As I understand it masks are next to useless unless used in conjunction with social distancing, since they don't protect you just lessens the risk of passing it on.

I’d say reducing the risk of transmission is very important talkingheads so I don’t understand how you come to the conclusion that it makes masks ‘next to useless’ if you’re not socially distanced. If you’re only concerned with protecting yourself that is done when everyone in the group wear a mask to protect each other.

I can't recall any scientific studies asserting that masks are "next to useless" without social distancing. Surely if masks lessen the risk of passing it on as you say then that also means if all the people around you in a theatre are wearing face coverings that affords you some protection too?

If you’re only concerned with protecting yourself that is done when everyone in the group wear a mask to protect each other. Besides which, it isn't true that wearing a mask gives you no protection. Early on the reason given for wearing them was to protect others rather than yourself, but studies have since established that they also give a lesser but still significant degree of protection to the wearer.

Im hoping we soon see a flury of summer, & autumn seasons announced. Plus panto, nutcrackers and musicals for the festive season... All the money I've saved during lockdown could go. Yikes!

Slight tangent, but Nimax and indeed all the box office staff I've been in touch with this past year, have been lovely and so helpful when things can't have been easy.

Masks should really be done away with as soon as is feasible - even a co-operative person is going to start feeling sick of it once they and everyone they know is vaccinated. I suspect it makes sense to keep them in indoor spaces at least until autumn though, since even if vaccine targets are hit, it won't be until then that everyone has had their fair chance at being protected. Which practically speaking probably means we're stuck with them for the rest of the year to some extent as a fluctuating mask/no mask policy would be worse. I'd love to be wrong on this, because I hate the damn things, but I'd rather things were open with a mask than not open at all.
I'm another who is booked for Come from Away on opening day - matinee and evening - but looking at the tickets it would be easy to switch to socially distanced performances. If I was running things, that's what I'd do for the sake of a few days, rather than shuffle everything again. We shall see I suppose!

My ATG booking for Harry Potter was moved to Sunday august 8th, so I've taken the plunge and reserved a hotel (free cancellation if anything goes wrong) for 6/7/8 August. It's good to have something halfway possible to look forward to!

ATG have suspended all performances until 16th May Now the road map has been published I don’t understand why anyone is continuing to sell tickets for events before the “at the earliest” dates listed in it.

I'm booked for the 25th so guess that will be one of the full capacity performances. Funny thing is I said last year it was the first show I wanted to see after lockdown and that's exactly what will happen n Now as my March and April trips to a couple of other shows will not happen now.

I'm hearing ATG Theatres won't reopen until mid/late July - has anyone heard similar? I've had my six Austentatious bookings put back to May and June, which I still think will get moved again. I thought post June 21st was the target.

I'm hearing ATG Theatres won't reopen until mid/late July - has anyone heard similar? I've not, but out of everyone (well documented on many threads here over the last year) they have been the least interested in social distancing formats and putting arts before profit. So it wouldn't surprise me. IMHO of course but as theatre groups go, they have come out of this having generated the least goodwill unfortunately.

Sad to see the Durham Miners Gala has been cancelled on what would be its 150th anniversary. Was due to take place second weekend of July so not unexpected since the measures could get pushed back, and there's no real way to have it as a socially distanced event (it's basically one big piss up).
