As there are too many threads about different TV shows, I thought I should create one general Netflix thread.
I've recently binge watched Russian Doll (there were a couple of boring episodes in the middle but I ended up loving it) and Sex Education (brilliant show, with a brilliant cast, that's what I call chemistry!).
I'm in the middle of Titans (entertaining, but I'm not loving it) and One Day at a Time (Rita Moreno is hilarious in it and such a legend).
Any new (or older) shows I should watch? I don't mind the country of origin/language. I'm used to reading subtitles.
I've heard mixed reviews about Umbrella Academy. Any thoughts?

I don't mind the country of origin/language. I'm used to reading subtitles. I've heard mixed reviews about Umbrella Academy. Any thoughts? I just finished Titans. I thought the best episode was the Doom Patrol one. In general I found the tone too dark, trying very much to be serious and adult, which is why the lighter Doom Patrol squad were a highlight for me. I also felt like half of the series was dedicated to back-door pilots for other shows, (particularly Hawk and Dove) which is fine in a longer season, but the 10 episodes didn't really have much time to establish the titans characters as it is. I found the many flashbacks and flashforwards quite jarring, and by the end of the series I was left feeling a bit empty. It definitely felt more like a mid-season finale rather than a series finale.
One Day at a Time on the other hand I absolutely love. Especially the theme song. I really hope it gets renewed.
The other titles you've mentioned are on my to watch list. Other than that Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is the main show I keep up with on Netflix. I'm still watching Riverdale, but more out of obligation, and reluctance to start something new.

Agree sex education is brilliant but for me it's real genius is how it feels very much like an American teen show. it's very cleverly filmed, directed and edited.
You 13 Reasons Why (I'd treat the 1st season as the only season personally) Designated Survivor (if you were a fan of 24) Scream (TV series is fun if you enjoy the movies) The Crown Shooter (Ryan Phillipe with a 24 vibe) Frontier
Lots of interesting documentaries on there.

I really love On My Block, it deserves WAY more recognition than it gets. Other shows that I enjoy that haven't already been mentioned: BoJack Horseman, Mindhunter, Stranger Things, Dear White People, and The Haunting Of Hill House. Plus Brooklyn Nine-Nine is probably my all-time favourite but I don't strictly count it as a Netflix show, though I am very excited to finally get to rewatch season 5 soon.
I'm happy to second (third?) recommendations for Sex Education, Russian Doll, and One Day At A Time, but I would advise people to proceed with caution if they're thinking about watching You. It's well done and the cast do a great job, but the last episode really made me regret even bothering.

A vote for 'Grace & Frankie' here!

Another vote for Grace and Frankie here. And Sex Education (I used to work at the Uni it's filmed in, alas Gillian Anderson was not there)
Not a Netflix show per se but all of White Collar is on there with the delightful Matt Bomber and it's a great easy-watch detective drama. Speaking of The Good Cop with Josh Groban is unexpectedly charming.
I also have both Friends and How I Met Your Mother permanently on a watch loop, because of 25 minutes of nostalgic comedy is always nice for a break.
Recommendations for similar 30 minute shows appreciated (I have tried and failed to get into Brooklyn 99...just don't get it unfortunately)

I love a good binge watch on Netflix.
Grace and Frankie (already mentioned but it's so good!) Sex Education Russian Doll (interesting concept) Sense8 (first season was very strong) The Crown (adored this!) Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (lost its way slightly but still good)
Documentaries - Fyre Festival Abducted in Plain Sight (So horrifically disturbing!)

Umbrella academy is probably really good but all the cast mumble so much I can’t tell what they’re saying. I’ve watched a couple of episodes with subtitles but given up for now.
I’m currently watching Benidorm from the beginning and it is making me laugh a lot, with it and at it.

I really loved Titans when it first started but I agree with the above that it lost it's way and whole episodes were about characters that they were trying to launch into series. I also get deeply confused with DC universe, is the Titans/Doom Patrol/Batwoman in the same world as the Arrowverse or the same world as the films or something completely different.
Doom Patrol has started and we're 3 episodes in. It really is completely and utterly deranged. It's something that might benefit from a binge watch actually as you get sucked into the world, the most recent episode was the best one yet but still truly odd.
Another vote for Kimmy Schmidt and Good Place. Ozark is a very good 'Breaking Bad' -ish drama with superb acting, but I'm stuck half way through Season 2 with no desire to go back at present. A slightly older one I liked was Travelers, and Mindhunter was good as mentioned above. A friend has recommended Hill House as also mentioned above.
Has anyone else watched or tried to watch) Maniac with Emma Stone & Jonah Hill? Again, somewhat bonkers.
And one I've started to watch last couple of weeks (don't know where or if it will turn up here) is Miracle Workers with Daniel Radcliffe & Steve Buscemi, shaping up very nicely, has a Good Place vibe, which may just be the setting.
In regard to 30 minute shows, I still adore Mom (used to be on ITV 2) and am very fond of Speechless and American Housewife, if you know where to find them. I have completely given up on UK TV channels as they seem to be just endless reality/talent shows pushing out other stuff

I didn’t watch beyond the first episode of Maniac. I don’t have the attention span for something with pinteresq pauses.

Fyre Festival was an interesting watch!

The Medici is cool. Is that Netflix or Amazon? Anyway I recommend the first series , the second not so much because the lead isn’t so charismatic and they are dragging out the plot line. If you know who gets murdered you need to get there faster...

The shows I liked the best: Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (co-production with BBC America - it's absolutely brilliant and I'm still extremely gutted it wasn't renewed) Atypical Sex Education The Crown Dark Stranger Things The Umbrella Academy (it's a mixed bag, and there is enough of things I can complain about, but still it's a fun ride, so it'll do as my Dirk Gently fix)
Not Netflix shows, but well, they are there: The End of the F***ing World (I watched Sex Education after this, and it gave me somewhat similar vibe) Gilmore Girls Friends
Perhaps there is something else I can't recall right now.

It's something that might benefit from a binge watch actually as you get sucked into the world, the most recent episode was the best one yet but still truly odd. I think Titans, Doom Patrol, and anything further based on the characters we've seen in those (be it Hawk and Dove, or Wondergirl) are based in their own Universe, separate to the Cineverse and the Arrowverse. Batwoman is going to be in the Arrowverse (Arrow, Flash, the Legends and now Batwoman are Earth 1, and Supergirl is Earth 38, but all within the same continuity).
I'm trying to hold out to watch Doom Patrol once it lands on Netflix here, but there is no date for that announced yet.
Other series I enjoyed were Frequency, which is based on the film of the same name (though I haven't seen the film). Unfortunately was cancelled after the first series, but they released an epilogue to tie things up.
I also enjoyed Limitless, which expands from the film. It focusses on new characters though Bradley Cooper does make a few appearances. Again cancelled after one series.

May have to give it another go.

Just to check that everyone has seen 'Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened', the documentary about the original production of Merrily We Roll Along?
Honestly, I'd recommend it to any theatre fan, not just Sondheim/musical fans.

The End of the F***ing World, and please don't be put off by the opening minutes - the characters unfold beautifully. They've just started filming series 2 today.

Marvellous Mrs Maisel. Peerless. But on Prime. Well worth the free month to catch both seasons. And Mr Mercedes on Starz! All impossible to overhype!

I've heard good things but I've got Netflix and Now already and still haven't finished The Deuce or started Babylon Berlin. I think with some things I'll wait for a DVD on Ebay.

Has anyone seen Wayne? It's from Youtube Originals, not Netflix. It reminded me a lot of TEOTFW. Absolutely loved it!

By the way, if anyone is willing to see a show in Spanish, I highly recommend Money Heist (La Casa de Papel). I've never been prouder of a Spanish TV show (we normally produce sh*t).

I liked it, but found the love story contrived and unbelievable. I did like Elite better and the TV version of Marie Dueñas' El Tiempo entre conturas, so there's quite a bit of good Spanish TV around!

It's been a good couple of years for Spanish TV. Another good one is Vis A Vis (I guess Conjugal Visit would be a translation for that), which is kind of an adaptation of Orange Is the New Black, but much darker.

I think it was on Walter Presents/Channel 4 in the UK as "Locked Up" but not over here in the cultural wastelands of Germany. I still want to try and get this somehow as I have a bit of a crush on Alba Flores who was in both "El Tiempo" and "La Casa" and is in this as well.

Has anyone watched the Madeleine McCann documentary? I enjoy a good true crime documentary, but alas not all of 'em *are* good, and although loads of people seem to be watching this one, it's difficult to tell in this case if it is because it's good, or if it's just because it's a crime that's much closer to home than the American ones.

The Hustle. A woeful gender swap version of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Anne Hathaway (what was she thinking?) and Rebel Wilson.
This doesn’t deserve to kiss the feet if the original DRS movie.
When is someone going to put a stop to Rebel Wilson? She’s consistently dreadful in everything.

Baby Ballroom. Documentary series about the children’s ballroom dancing competition scene. The sequins, the tans, the lack of boy dancers, the teachers, the moms (and dads). Fascinating I think it’s very encouraging to know that thousands of children in the uk are involved in this sort of fun, competitive activity (and I’m sure many more sporting activities like it) when all we hear in the news is about kids stabbing eachother.

First time I saw Rebel Wilson she was a novelty now after seeing her in a few things i realise that she can only play Rebel Wilson so it's getting a bit monotonous now.
