I was disappointed with The Trial of Christine Keeler.
I have long been fascinated by the story - but this was just too disjointed for me. I am not demanding a strictly linear narrative - but this just kept jumping around and whilst I could keep up because I know the history, my housemate was utterly confused by it all.
I am not going to bother with the rest, I fear.

I love Dame Edna and Barry Humphries will always be a legend. That said, that new Dane Edna show just on the BBC was honestly one of the most dire, turgid things I've ever seen on television.

Don't think I ever saw her there though. |

I saw Mandy Rice Davies in a play once, years ago. I think it might have been an Agatha Christie at the Pomegranate in Chesterfield.

Hands up if you've ever interviewed MRD ... ME!!!
My first job in London was working in the civil service in a very junior role. In that *professional capacity* I did interview Mandy Rice Davies once - my inbox was a particular postcode. Shen lived at Worlds End (Chelsea) then, maybe the mid 80s.
Particular uneventful occasion. Not the best of situations.

Watching Sound of Music as not much else on.
Why is it physically impossible to watch this film without singing at the top of my voice?

To my surprise, Worzel Gummidge has been the highlight for me. Lovingly brought to life, funny, well acted and with a great score from The Unthanks.

Ploughing through all the stuff I’ve recorded. Thoroughly enjoyed the Susan Hill Ghost Story on CH5. The BBC adaptation of Christmas Carol was a let down for me. I didn’t think Guy Pearce made a particularly great Scrooge.
The Trial of Christine Keeler is a fascinating story though the constant time hopping isn’t doing it any favours in my opinion. With something like this, I’d be much happier if the events unfolded in a more linear timeframe. Despite the time hopping thing, it’s a show I’ll continue watching.
Fingers crossed for Dracula. With Mark Gatiss / Steven Moffat involved, I’ve got high hopes for this.

I only ever watch it up to the wedding scene. It should have ended there. I hate it when she comes back from honeymoon all different and “knowing” and it goes all dark and nazi. |

I want to give a shout out to a couple of films on iplayer for people who may not have seen them.
Murder On The Orient Express with Albert Finney, the definitive Hercule Poirot and a fabulous cast which eclipsed Branagh’s recent attempt by miles.
Death On The Nile with Peter Ustinov as a different but equally fantastic Poirot and an absolutely stellar cast including Bette Davis and Maggie Smith which will not be eclipsed by Branagh’s upcoming effort.
Evil Under The Sun with Ustinov as Poirot again, and Diana Rigg and Maggie Smith Looking bloody fab and bitching the hell out of eachother.
The Mirror Crack’d is also on one of the catch ups, might be My5. Liz Taylor, Rock Hudson and Angela Lansbury as Miss Marple.

I think I enjoyed Dracula.
Some great lines. Plenty of shocks.
And clever reinvention.

Dracula - that was a fantastic 90 minutes of tv tonight. Thoroughly entertained and will be watching the remaining 2 episodes this week. Great writing and performances. This is far better than the recent War of the Worlds on the BBC.

Loved 'Dracula' until the Count went inexplicably Guy Ritchie. I mean why? It was going so well, properly creepy and superb work from John Heffernan et al, and I loved the female Van Helsing - she deserves a spin-off.
Btw, the actress playing Mina has just been cast as Galadriel in the mega-budget Amazon Lord of the Rings series.

I too loved the first DRACULA. Very campy, but thoroughly entertaining, with genuinely scary moments, but also lots of humour.

We’re watching this now, as I was at the theatre last night. Loving it! With Lucifer finishing in the US next season (Tom Ellis stars in it), I have my fingers crossed we will get a one off Christmas special at some point soon, like Gavin and Stacey. |
