Yeah I would not call the score forgettable, it's very catchy. But it is very noughties pop-punk, of its time, and I guess if you mean forgettable as in generic then I could see where you're coming from. It's still a guilty pleasure for me though, even if I do find myself cringing at how early oughts lyrics like 'we've all got our junk' are. I'm not optimistic but I really hope this actually does continue after the 27th as I'm due to see it on new year's eve with a few friends and I was so looking forward to it, but with the way shows are getting cancelled and the talk of lockdowns happening at some vague period after Christmas it's not looking great for me.

It wasn't eve close to sold out on Saturday evening actually - probably about 2/3 full. They were shifting all the rear rows forward. And I got my cheap seat on the day from Almeida to replace one of my cancellations. Of course it's impossible to tell whether there were lots of last minute call offs but the seat map had shown lots of space too.

It did appear to be quite well sold, before the last week and a half at least. I would say the majority of performances were listed as either sold out or limited availability but when I looked on Saturday there were an awful lot more seats available for the Saturday shows and the rest of the week than there had been, so there were either lots of cancellations (understandable and the most likely explanation) or lots of tickets held back.

So I think there might have been a spate of late canx on an otherwise fairly well-sold run.

Had emailed to rebook from yesterday to the 27th but no response and seems to be no availability for it now. They have added an additional matinee on 19th Jan which has good availability at all price ranges currently!

I'd originally booked for this performance as soon as tickets were released and there were only a handful of seats available back then. i re-arranged last week as I decided to travel home earlier and by that point it looked around 2/3 full

I'd imagine at this time of year many of those who booked would have been from outside London coming as a holiday treat, so what with London's current Covid hotspot situation and the train disruption from staff illness and strikes people would call it off or postpone.

Oh gosh this was worth the wait. Was so happy when I read this was going ahead earlier. Five covers on, including Asha Banks in her debut as Wendla. I really loved it. I enjoyed it as much as I did the original Broadway/West End production. I loved the cast and loved the staging. I'll disagree with an earlier comment and say I actually really loved the extended "Totally F*cked". Wasn't too sure on the new Pirate song, but then I do like "The Guilty Ones"
After some disappointing new musicals recently it was so great to see this again. This is well worthy of a transfer so I hope it has a future life. A lovely encore bow for the understudies tonight from a very appreciative audience.

Lovely new production of what I’ve often considered to be an overrated show. The music is great, but I’ve always found the book a bit weak. Not the case here. The production design is really something and subsequently leads to some very original staging & choreo. Great cast with only one cover listed. After all we have been through I felt privileged to be watching it.
Still getting over paying £5 odd for the most disgusting can of lager ever. Made with old bread apparently. I realise that a can of Fosters doesn’t fit in with the swathes of theatricals loudly discussing their rehearsal schedules, or the ushers chatting away trying to out-do each other with their credits, but it would at least have been drinkable.

Worth keeping an eye out for returns as a few have been appearing on the days of the performances (I’ve been watching out for a friend). But I do believe it is genuinely sold out now.

There were tickets for the 19th matinee yesterday, but they have gone in the last 12 hours. Really pleased that it is so good, and has been such a success.

They’re advising people to assume that hanging out in the returns queue will be successful - given the volume of cancellations there’ll probably be a lot of spots opening up. If not, Sonia Friedman will probably put it in the duke of York’s after Amy adams finishes up in glass menagerie

In this age of social media, I would think it would be a lot more successful, very much appeals to the Heathers/Dear Evan Hansen crowd.
Duke of York's would indeed be a great venue for this production, as would the Criterion or Wyndham's were they to become available.

Agreed - they need to get a partnership with TodayTix cooking early. Wyndhams will probably try and keep Life of Pi as long as possible given the amends to the theatre, but the Criterion might do a snug year of pride and prejudice and then move on…

Which character was the cover on for if you don't mind me asking? I'm seeing this today and was hoping to see Amara Okereke as Wendla after enjoying her a lot in The Boy Friend so I'd rather know in advance if she was off so it won't be a surprise when I arrive as that might dampen my mood and enjoyment of the show.

I'm not sure...social media was already a thing at the time of the original production, which wasn't quite the huge hit that they were trying to get it to be on Broadway either. That said, it seems to have developed a cult following since. I really wanted to like it but was left thinking it was OK at best; I just didn't think it compared well to the original play, although no-one seems to stage that these days now.

Well I'm done! I enjoyed it and it was a great production but the musical itself wasn't one of my favourites. I enjoy the music but it does get quite samey after a while, and the book is very heavy handed. Overall, didn't manage to squeeze into my top 5 of the year as I had hoped it might after the generally very positive response. The audience seemed to enjoy it a lot though, a standing ovation though not an immediate one.

So glad I bought a return ticket to this before it sold out, and that the show actually went ahead. This really is something special - the cast are wonderful. Seeing it for a second time, I caught some more nuanced moments that I really liked. There are a couple of moments of staging that just feel awkward and personally I think they should change, but overall it's a really wonderful production. There's something really cathartic about watching a group of a dozen young actors sing Totally f***ed with utter glee on their faces :') They seem to be having the time of their lives. Also shout out to the three actors on stage who did not corpse for even a second when Wendla's mother's wig fell off when she hit her. I would have been dying with laughter if it were me up there, for sure.
