Eye-watering prices, front row for 90£ sigh Isn’t that a good price compared to some shows? Also interesting they’re only doing 7 shows a week! Tuesday-sat with only a few 8 shows in.

That was an easy booking for me - my sister (and I) adore Hello Dolly and I'd already got tickets for Hairspray last performance, so it's a double whammy Saturday for us. That's her birthday / Christmas gift sewn up for the next couple of years (and she can buy dinner).

No because often front rows are a lot cheaper than premium seats. Front row for Waitress at the very same theatre costs 59£

You're right, how odd! Got my ticket, first Wednesday matinee, front row of the Upper Circle, the end seats were £15, had a quick look on seatplan and theatre monkey and they seem to be ok. I agree some of the prices are a little high, but doesn't feel as bad as Sunday... George or Mary Poppins, and this is the first day of sales, of course we're not going to see any discounts!

Just booked front row for the first preview. I won't prebook any more shows as I suspect there will be Rush tickets, but the first preview of a show like this is usually harder to get tickets for. Looking forward to this one too.

I really would prefer a transfer of the Broadway production as it was PERFECTION, but I really am very excited about Imelda as Dolly. I also think Jenna Russell is a good fit for Irene, although no one could touch the perfection of either Eileen Brennan or Kate Baldwin!
I wonder if Charlie Stemp might reprise the role of Barnaby or step up to the role of Cornelius? He was wonderful on Broadway too.
The logo is, as has already been commented, AWFUL!

I'd be incredibly surprised if Charlie Stemp wasn't in the cast in some capacity. I personally would keep him as Barnaby (considering they rechoreographed the role for him on Broadway, how cool is that to rework stuff for an unknown Brit?!) but it has been a few years and you're right perhaps he might step up to a larger role. When he was originally cast over there I thought for sure they were gearing up to bring it all over (Like when Scarlett Strallen did Gentlemans Guide... although that didn't come over, yet!) I guess ill be the only one that likes the logo but that's ok! 😂😂😂

She's roughly the same age as Gavin Creel and only a bit older than Santino Fontana. Maybe you saw an understudy.

I’m not excited for this with Imelda either. She is an amazing actress with a terrific career but she’s not an amazing musical theatre actress. She was great in Sweeney but not in Gypsy and Follies was much better with Jo Riding. Still they put her name above the title in the poster because she will sell tickets, because despite a reputable career in stage and screen that expands on years she has now become a ‘popular’ name in musical theatre because everybody says how good she is so she must be very good so we have to go and see her and, of course, we will her and standing ovation whatever she does.

Well I managed to get tickets for Thursday 27th August which seems to be opening night. Now LW theatres have been in touch to say the tickets shouldn’t have been on sale and want me to change dates. Where do I stand with this?

Maybe I’d think differently if I hadn’t seen Gypsy in Leicester with Caroline O’Connor a couple of years before Chichester’s Gypsy but for me Imelda’s MamaRose was just an example of let’s try overacting to compensate that I can not reach those notes gracefully Hope I’m not sounding too harsh. Good that you get presence and star power from her when you see her, I guess it’s there I just cannot see it. At least when it comes to classy musical theatre female roles. In Sweeney she was just perfect.

That wig was awful!

Where do I stand with this? I suspect they have a term somewhere which says they can cancel tickets for any reason, although you should try for something in the form of goodwill. Had in been closer to the date, you could appeal that you'd already booked travel and hotels etc, but I suspect it's too far from the event to try that one.

dazzerlump,I would press for a full refund and a free ticket for another date of your choice.Go to Customer Services and explain your situation.Of course,it might well depend on if you bought via the theatre or via an agency who might have jumped the gun with the dates and made a genuine mistake. If you are on-line,Theatre Monkey 🐵 ,would you agree or go down another route?

They made a mistake, and it's very early on in the process. So, accept the move and drink / programme voucher and move on. Had it been nearer the time, it's another matter, but it is literally hours. I had already booked the matchmaker package including drinks and programme. It’s just a bit gutting that I would have loved to go to an opening night of a show.

I concur. For me, I think Staunton is far better on screen than stage. She is a bit of a try hard sometimes and does definitely overact but that is fine for screen! Not really for stage, acting for stage is very, very different than acting for screen. The skills don't transfer. I don't think enough producers know this.
