I showed the WEL video to my housemate who could not fathom what the number was all about. It was a really poor advert for the show.
Yes there were sound issues for some of the acts, but CHF was struggling with diction making the lyrics even less comprehensible than usual.

Did anyone manage to catch Georgia? Curious how she was. Odd about CHF going off yesterday, the WEL sound problems not her fault but that really wasn't a good representation of the show - she didn't sound good at all and although I like the show a lot Bad Cinderella is very awkwardly choreographed IMO. I can't decide what I think about the show being 'mis-sold'. I mean, yes it's not the classic fairytale but I would imagine all the 'inappropriate' stuff would go over kids heads anyway and it's still a lot of fun. For reference I took my not very worldly 11 year old who absolutely loved it (and I'm pretty sure won't have got many of the more adult references). I think someone (earlier on this thread maybe?) said it should have been called Bad Cinderella and I agree with that, that one simple change might give a clue... And just so happens that on Michael Jackson's album cover of that name, 'BAD' was spray canned, so that's a nice reference. I still think it's too risky if they take it to Broadway; then again the song title is there to use as a 'diss' of the show, so probably no escaping it. Maybe they don't want to accidentally cause a rise in sales of Jim Davidson's 'Sinderella' DVD, lol.

Unless I’m missing it (and I’ve looked twice) the video of Carrie’s WEL performance seems to have been taken down from Official LondonTheatre’s youtube channel..

Who’d have thought a WEL performance could have so much intrigue. Mary Poppins performed perfectly, including 2 child actors. Different class of show I guess.

steve10086 On her instagram stories there was a post about how one day she’d write a book about “the many events” leading up to it so people would know where her head was at. Or words to that effect. Can’t check as it’s also been deleted…

Who’s behind the videos being taken down I wonder?

It’s since been deleted… I can't wait. I bet it will be: Carrie: A Influencer's Tale. A huge, roller coaster of a novel in four hundred sizzling chapters. A searing indictment of the entertainment industry in the twenty-first century, with some hot gypsies thrown in.

Carrie Hope Fletcher is extremely protective of her image though. Her whole gimmick is based around her online persona, the influencer-ish stuff - it hurts "the brand". I'm not surprised she wants rid of it.

No, there was a post after that which she’s since deleted. I've seen the other post mentioned. I guess if you're heading to an event that you already know is your weak spot, any mishap, criticism, disappointment or faux pas (by whoever) is going to throw you off even more. A combo of those - even worse. Some performers must live in fear of an Idina Menzel moment at these kinds of events, and the makeshift outdoor nature of them

Professional performer admits she can't perform professionally? * Professional performer holds their hands up and admits to messing up when frankly she could have stayed quiet and most people would not have even realised. These things happen. She’s probably just kicking herself particularly as it’s the first public performance of a song from Cinderella in full costume and choreo I believe.

Professional performer admits she can't perform professionally? While chucking 'unprofessional' performers in the bin don't forget Idina Menzel, Glenn Close, and acclaimed opera singer Stuart Skelton whose voice cracked badly several times during Last Night Of The Proms recently. I'm guessing you're not a performer, and if you are: not a performer that anyone else would want to work with.

I'm guessing the people suggesting that Carrie did the wrong thing calling out of yesterday's shows after WEL don't have issues with anxiety, and for that I'm glad for you.
Now, I obviously don't know if this was the case for Carrie, but for myself I could absolutely see that if I had just done WEL and it had gone badly to the point where it messed with my head, that could easily have triggered an anxiety attack with no guarantee I would be able to get back from that in time to pull myself together to perform. In that situation, calling out so that the audience who have paid for the shows get the standard of performance they deserve is absolutely the professional thing to do. You wouldn't be making the same comments if her voice had gone and she physically couldn't sing it, would you - mental illness is no different!
Having just watched the audience video that's still up, she did a decent job of saving it. Yes, she was in the wrong key in the bridge but the music cuts out and gives you nothing there, and she made the right choice to cut off the big note before the last chorus kicked back in, so it didn't clash - and then found the right key for the last chorus, even if you can see the terror in her eyes. I've heard a lot worse at WEL and other concert events before.

More a reference to the point "...there's a reason I avoid concerts at all costs and its because its unfamiliar territory where you get one singular pressure filled moment to nail it..." Pretty bonkers a professional performer actively avoids performing. Part of the unique appeal to most professionals of performing, be it a one off at Cardigan Hall or every night at the New London Theatre, is the pressure of each performance, the expectation 'to nail it' every single time and navigating those moments it starts to go off, pulling it back in. Is she saying she's fine if she can rehearse the bejesus out of it in situ, but any spontaneous performance is out of her range of ability?

She gave a bad performance. She needs to own it not make excuses.
No need for drama. No need for fishing for sympathy.
Admit it was a bad day at the office and move on.
Yes it has shown her and the show in a bad light. But she has to be professional enough to move on. Her online behaviour isn't helping that. For her or for the show.

Is she saying she's fine if she can rehearse the bejesus out of it in situ, but any spontaneous performance is out of her range of ability? I think that's almost exactly what she's saying, with a couple of important exceptions. This is far from a 'spontaneous performance'. I don't doubt that backstage vids of singing to someone else strumming a guitar, for fun, would be fine. WEL is instead an awkward attempt to recreate what's in the theatre but with wind, crowd noise, reduced soundcheck time, and unknown acoustics. There's plenty of possibility for falling short, whereas everything in a 'spontaneous performance' is a light hearted bonus which nobody expects much from, but may end up being gold after all. The other exception is that I don't think it's out of the range of her "ability", but she expressed it was out of the range of her comfort on this occasion.

I don't know her, I've never seen her perform, I'm not a fan - other than of the way she has warmly supported her alternates, and those she's played opposite. The recent zoom chat by the original Evita company painted a very different picture of a leading lady's haughty paranoia at 'alternates' - I was staggered by how directly they talked about it, and how they were shocked and hurt by it all these years later. I think CHF is shouldering headlining the show, and leading the company, very well.

I’m sure it’s a great comfort for the audience every night who’ve paid to see her deliver the gods, where she doesn’t feel any pressure to get it right, as she has other nights to improve. What a pro.
The whole West end Live performance was just horrible. Staging. Costumes. Choreography. Singing.

Why don't you enjoy yourself by going to Twitter and checking out all the comments on CHF's performance. 'Astonishing' 'knocks it out of the park' tend to be the nightly reactions, and to the wider show too. I haven't seen it, so don't know. In this post you are wilfully misunderstanding what she said. Her point is that in the controlled environment of the Theatre - knowing the acoustic, the foldback arrangements, the air flow and acoustics - she is confident she can deliver her BEST, and believes that's what the audience deserve night after night. I think some posts on this thread are now just gratuitously abusive of this performer. It goes beyond commentary and fair opinion, when words are gleefully twisted to discredit her.

I don't think it's the worst thing ever that she had a bad performance and didn't sound good - it's happened a million times before and it'll happen again. I'm sure the sound at WEL isn't the easiest. But she's handled it badly and made it a 'thing'. I don't think it's too much to expect that a west end leading lady should be able to perform songs from the show in this format - that's a part of the job and it troubles me that something's really missing if it's something she'd avoid at all costs/make excuses for. I see she's not performing the role today either...
Anyway, I don't know for the life of me why they didn't just either have her do I Know I Have A Heart (probably less stressful for her) or stick Ivano on to do Only You, Lonely You (since she doesn't like doing these performances anyway). Better to do a less 'fun' song and nail it and represent the show well, then set it all up to fail horribly.
