Finally! Now THIS, BBC, is the right kind of signing. Even though I don't follow sport, it is impossible not to have the utmost admiration for this indefatigable rower and adventurer. I used to follow his escapades through deserts, jungles, oceans and ice caps with the wonderful Ben Fogle, who became his best friend along the way.
He was always volatile and I'm not sure how well he will be able to pick up and remember dance steps after his horrific accident and brain injury. But, unusually for me, I will throw a couple of votes his way, regardless of the dancing, just for his perseverance. He needs a Flavia or a Natalie - not sure who'd cope with him out of the latest crop of girls. But good luck to him.

.Are Bros the last two contestants? No, apparently the last two are going to be James Cracknell and Annika Rice. Bros was a joke although Matt was rumoured to be doing it one year, has been a guest artist on the show and with them being featured on the BBC recently, would have made sense. |

Feeling a little underwhelmed, but I know as soon as it starts I'll get swept up again. I always try to be positive, as when they announced the line up a few years ago, I instantly dismissed Danny Mac as an arrogant fool who would be awful to watch, but he turned out to be one of my favourite contestants ever.

I was hoping that Chris Mears announcing he was retiring from diving was timed to precede a strictly announcement. Ah well. I’m sure I’ll still enjoy some of the costumes.

I'm afraid it's being reported, Tibidabo, that newly single Neil has been promoted to the main line-up, at the expense of Gorka, who becomes nothing more than a group dancer for 2019. I didn't realise that Mr Tibs is a senior BBC executive. 🙂 |

Strange Gorka has been downgraded. I'd assumed Neil was taking Pasha's place. Gorka has always seemed popular and was seen as one of the more attractive dancers.
I had always thought Neil was punching above his weight with Katya especially as her family are very wealthy.

Most of what I’ve read is speculating that it’s because there aren’t as many short celeb females as there are shorter male pros, so one of the shorter guys was going to need to be swapped out

He and Gemma have not long had a baby, so maybe the schedule of a group dancer fits in better with his home life than the long daily rehearsals with a partner?

I knew that Gorka had recently had a baby with a woman who isn't you; what I didn't know until today is how little he is. Explains everything. 😉 |

It's harder to downgrade someone than to move someone upwards plus there are guys who haven't been in the show as long as Gorka they could have moved down.
