Already started planing the Fringe in my head, will start spreadsheeting once the full programme is out. Excited for Eddie Izzard’s Great Expectations.
Will try to get to Purposeless Movements - As My Left Foot/Right Foot was brilliant. Looking at the dates they have lined up to tour Left/Right Foot in May I’m wondering if it will returns the Fringe.

I probably won’t get around to seeing much this year, as I’ll actually be appearing in one of the shows.

I'm there for the very start of the Fringe at the end of July and already booked about 6 shows. I probably won’t get around to seeing much this year, as I’ll actually be appearing in one of the shows. Oh, which and where?

It's more youth theatre than anything else, but I'm just grateful to be performing on the Fringe.

Hopefully though, with stuff going on all day, you'll get the chance to see some shows.

Well I'm braving the Fringe for the whole month, booked w few comedy shows already. Paul Merton is always a must. I'd also highly reccomend Bec Hill, sublimely silly and lots of fun.

I think I'm definitely going to see Men With Coconuts (Gilded Balloon, Teviot). My old drama tutor is a member and he has really inspired and helped me become more confident as a performer.

Last year it was more insanely busy and crowded than I've ever experienced. Good luck! I've never done the full duration but will do some time. Do you mean the Merton Improv show? I usually mainly see theatre but have booked for Stewart Francis, doing his final tour. I didn't know his stuff but caught a few minutes of him in TV recently and liked it a lot. I usually see Tim Vine and Matt Forde if they're on. Kitson has hinted he'll be on this year.

Oh and also Sarah Kendall is on this year, if anyone's not heard her Australian Trilogy on the radio it is outstanding.

Usually most fun at the terrible shows! 😄 Did you see Six there?

DK said in his last emailshot his next email would have Edinburgh news. Improv Chums is coming to my local arts centre so I might leave it til then. I have heard good things about Sarah Kendall and I do love a female antipodean voice so I might investigate.

The 2018 Fringe was definitely my favourite, and it will be a tough act to follow.

Have you seen this, @theatremonkey? Apparently, some cultured types are prepared to pay £45 just to watch bananas being eaten. This time next year, you'll be a millionaire!!!

All this talk of bananas reminds me of the show where a young guy sits in a rocking chair while dressed in a gorilla costume, rocks away quite happily for 56 minutes, then gets up and walks off. That show has to be a Fringe institution! It's free of charge and apparently sells out its one-night run every year. I can't wait for another August at the Fringe. As in previous years, the plan is to be in Edinburgh for the first ten days of the festival, returning home for a few days, then heading back to the Fringe for another ten-day stint into the final weekend. Accommodation has been booked since October for Friday 2nd to Sunday 11th August and Friday 16th to Sunday 25th August. Changing from the Premier Inn by Edinburgh Park station (10 minutes out of Waverley on the train) to a Hub by Premier Inn near Haymarket has meant being able to reduce the cost of accommodation by more than 50% so I'm chuffed with that. Paying around £50 a night for reasonably central, decent accommodation in Edinburgh during the festival seems like good value for money and the 20-minute walk to the old town, past the castle, should be a nicer start to each day than a packed-out Scotrail train! 467 shows are on sale so far for the 2019 Fringe (plus three fake dog-related shows which formed part of their April Fools joke last week!) but that number should rise to nearly 1,500 next week when the next batch of shows are unveiled. By 16th May, the final advance sale date prior to the full programme launch, the line-up for Pleasance, Underbelly, Assembly and Gilded Balloon should be complete. Interesting to see that Gilded Balloon have a couple of new venues this year, in addition to their usual haunts, one of which is the former hub of C Venues on Chambers Street. There's generally no need to book very much until the full programme is out but the shows on my 'must-see' list so far are: - Art Heist (Poltergeist Theatre, Underbelly)
- Atomic Saloon Show (Spiegelworld, Assembly)
- Bottoms Up! (Minotaur Theatre Company, theSpaceUK)
- Circa: Humans (Circa, Underbelly)
- Conspiracy (Barrel Organ, Underbelly)
- CSI: Crime Scene Improvisation (The Chandeliers, Underbelly)
- Fern Brady: Power and Chaos (IAM Presents, Monkey Barrel)
- Hitler's Tasters (New Light Theater Project, Greenside)
- Notflix: Originals (Austin Talent, Gilded Balloon)
- Showstopper! The Improvised Musical (Something for the Weekend, Pleasance)
- Tokyo Rose (Burnt Lemon Theatre, Underbelly)
- YUCK Circus (YUCK Circus, Underbelly)
That's all three winners of this year's Underbelly Untapped awards, a few Fringe staples, and one of my favourite student companies (Minotaur Theatre from the University of East Anglia). It's no surprise that there's already a production of The Last Five Years confirmed for this summer. It's just a shock that there's no sign of Spring Awakening thus far. Early days though!

If you can snag tickets to their one off Fringe charity drag show Crosstentstious then do, it's always a riot.

Yes I've already booked Hitler's Tasters and Art Heist too. I'll note for future reference about the hotels stevej678 but over the years I've stuck with finding the cheapest apartments and done really well so far. My favoured one (on West Port) wasn't available for this year so I booked it for 2020, the only time I've ever booked anything 2 years ahead. This year I'll be slumming it on Rose Street instead, not especially looking forward to that but it's relatively cheap and as ever I'll be out from morning to late night/early hours.

talkingheads Do we know Austentatious will be at the Fringe this year? I've never seen it but would like to and always hear good things. Plus, is Cariad Lloyd still with them? I'll definitely go if she is. Because I love her.

Apparently, some cultured types are prepared to pay £45 just to watch bananas being eaten Rehearsals have already started, and webcam being looked into... Didn't you recently celebrate a milestone birthday, TM? Surely you've got the hang of it by now? I hope there are going to be concessions for senior (and senior) TheatreBoard members!

Yes Cariad's very much with them, though it's Charlotte Gittins who always impresses me most with how quick and devilish she can be with the other cast members. Incidentally if you want to check it out, they have two DVDs recorded in the West End, there's an offer at the moment to get both for £20 www.gofasterstripe.com/cgi-bin/website.cgi?page=videofull&id=36103
