Only the £75 and £99 tickets availible for the two added matinees. Clearly there is still a huge audiencd for Rent in London! I could see this coming back to London for a run once the tour finishes, in one of the smaller theatres like Charring Cross or Playhouse.  It'd be risky putting into a bigger West End theatre, selling out a 300 seat theatre isn't the same as one double the size. |

I was so looking forward to Rent this evening... this is far from my favourite production of Rent. From my experience tonight that's largely down to the sound. If I hadn't have know the songs and lyrics, I'd have really struggled to follow anything that was happening, which was the unfortunate position the person I went with was in! We were front row, and had cast stood in front of us on lots of occasions too (down to my choice of seat really!). Still love this show so much, but only a couple of songs could I actually hear the words that were being sung. Which is so unfortunate.
The director came on at the beginning and explained there had been "massive technical problems" in the afternoon resulting in the show being cancelled. I know there was an injury so some different cast were on. Some great vocals in terms of tuning etc and some great acting performances.
We had alternate Mimi, Collins, and Angel (I think!). Hope the cast are ok!

Just to note again that Rent will be back in London zone 4, less than 20 mins train from Victoria in Bromley in early Feb. Premium tickets £44, most others £39 and largely unsold so maybe discounts nearer the time.

We had alternate Mimi, Collins, and Angel (I think!). Hope the cast are ok! There were three covers on for the cancelled matinee. Definitely Mimi and Angel, can't remember if Collins was the third. Thought Bobbie Little's vocals were stunning as Mimi, she quickly made up for the disappointment of Philippa Stefani's absence before the show was cut short. Will try again when the tour comes to Liverpool next year. |

Yeah, I'm after 1 only but and not so desperate to see it that I feel the need to pay £99.
I saw the original production on Broadway and the Sydney production (not a patch on the Broadway production).
Anyone got a spare?
I may even try dayseating. Again, ain't gonna pay £99.

I looked at availability in Eastbourne the other day and theres plenty in a relatively small theatre. Whilst a limited run in London is virtually sold out it doesnt seem to be shifting out on the road if eastbourne and bromley are representative. Im not convinced of its ability to shift a further run in London in the same way

Dynamic pricing is smart and sensible as far as I'm concerned. Those £99 tickets will sell for that price, so why not? It may go against the message of Rent, but let's be real, most people mock the characters and think they should just go get a job anyway.  |

We went to see Anthony rapp yesterday afternoon and wondered what had happened to the rent matinee as people were having tickets refunded as we were getting out - rapp was great and still has a great voice - well impressed with the studio :-)

It said early bird offer on ATG website so they will probably go up in price soon. |

Lots of seats available for the tour.... When I shared something on FB about the production someone jumped in with a "IT'S TOTALLY SOLD OUT"
I did have to respond with 'Um I live in Cardiff, the rest of the tour is far from sold out'

Eastbourne seems to have sold little other than a small central area of front stalls. Probably about 8 seats wide and going back 7 or 8 rows for each performance

Not exactly a show for Eastbourne though! I must admit to thinking it strange that they opted for Eastbourne rather than Brighton but then Brighton has had 2 amateur 20th anniversary productions in the last 6 months that especially midweek they couldnt give tickets away for. |

RENT is my favourite musical of all time. I find the lyrics are really meaningful and there are several lines that have really stuck with me from when I worked on an amateur production of the show a couple of years ago. Particularly, "Forget regret, or life is yours to miss". It's terrible tragedy that Jonathan Larson didn't live to write many more musicals, but RENT truly is the perfect obituary to celebrate his life and work. I cannot wait to see this production when it tours next year!

I know that Eastbourne has a rep for being an old people's place but isn't it also full of language schools? Here in Germany it's touted as one of those places to send your kids to for language holidays in English ("close to London! close to the sea!"). So perhaps they're hoping that bored school kids from all over the world will be glad to find something on offer that's not Bingo or an Elvis impersonator. |
