I've thought for a while that the quality of the show dipped massively from series 4 onwards and last night confirmed that for me. This season has been full of false cliffhangers which end up leading to nothing (building Ryan up as the villain of the season and then killing him offscreen, for instance).
Some people are satisfied by the ending but can anyone seriously say that they watch LOD for its social/political commentary? I watch it for the twists, the interrogation scenes and watching characters unravel. To think that we saw Cotton scheme and plot over three seasons - it meant we were invested in him and his ultimate downfall. There was nothing like that this series.
And I also disagree with people who think that a seventh season will solve any disappointment - surely Jed Mercurio should have wrapped up the different plot-holes of six and given us a satisfying ending before thinking about that?
As you can tell, I'm not very pleased!

Lots of people saying 'How did Buckells manage to rise so high? He's a bumbling, lying idiot".
Boris Johnson is the Prime Minister.

Also who signed off that cringey CGI lift shot at the end?! Dreadful. I know, what was that?! I can't remember the last series finale that people were happy with. I think sometimes expectations are too high. Who would have been a satisfactory H? Someone more powerful like Carmichael? The twist was, it wasn't, it was a wet blanket. For me it was just quite an unexciting episode and it all felt quite negative at the end. Overall I'd say it was the weakest series (yes series, not season!) of the 6. But it had its moments.

I am able to accept a lacklustre fourth man if there was a clearer indication that he too was being manipulated. If we look at the other three, none of them were alpha personalities. They were all pawns. There has to be a level above them.
Accepting the four as the big bads is what doesn't work for me.
I could live with a series end that hinted that they would never get to the top but they wouldn't stop trying

I’ve spent the past couple of weeks watching the whole series, and I’m glad I did, as even though I’ve watched it from the beginning there was so much I’d forgotten. I quite liked the end. (Though I did not like the dodgy CGI lift scene.) This is not a series that was ever going to have a triumphant happy ending, and I don’t get why people would expect one. It’s certainly a much more satisfying ending than Bodies had. I didn't want a triumphant happy ending at all. I wanted an ending that either punched me in the gut, made my jaw hit the floor and either left me desperate for a 7th series or being wickedly teased with a 'you'll never know' hook. Instead we got an hour with an underwhelming reveal, no twists or shocks, and an overall resolution that could've easily been squeezed into the normal allocation of 6 episodes. Why have a 7th episode and do nothing with it?! Definitely a victim of its own hype this time around.

I'm confused about almost everything, but especially the comments referring to the CGI lift.
I've rewatched that scene half a dozen times, and it still looks real to me. Was it not, and what do I need to look at?

Was it not, and what do I need to look at? Definitely not real, it looked far too slick and glossy, like they'd side-stepped into a Marvel film. I think what made it worse was the looks on their faces as they stared out, like they'd been to an acting class taught by Joey Tribbiani.

Also can we applaud how well directed the scene of him being brought in was? Maximum tension That was an eye-roll moment for me. An eye-roll moment that went on so long that I picked up my phone to check social media, and never quite put it down again because I was convinced they were stringing me along and couldn't be bothered with the faff waiting for a proper reveal. For a while I've thought the show was getting far too silly, and they might as well have the rat from Horrible Histories hold up a sign saying "we're pushing your emotional buttons now" for all the subtlety with which they did it. He'd have been on screen a lot. I didn't mind that too much. I'm realistic enough to realise that it's hard to have these high drama sensational shows without things getting daft, so I just enjoy them for what they are. The message of the ending is fine - one I support. It might have worked if they'd finished this arc a couple of series sooner, but having milked the sensationalist aspects for the last few years, I feel like they have a bit of a cheek to opt for the serious message. It's a bit like going to a burger restaurant, being sold high fat, high salt, low nutrition food and then just as you are finishing up, having your waiter scold you about healthy eating, expecting you to eat the raw brussel sprout they've hidden at the bottom of your pudding.

Jenny on Gogglebox was also not impressed. She tore up her notebook! I do love her 🤣 What was in the notebook? Her Line of Duty plotlines? She was taking notes all the way along to try and work out what was going on. At the end of that finale she just threw it out in outrage! 🤣
