I would say Jamie is too old for Romeo (and can't see it myself). Collette as Anne sounds possible, given she was cover Anne in the West End.

What a joke! A white woman as cover Juliet, and someone who just lead a grand West End show as a supporting character that doesn´t suit him at all. What a joke. The only one I can semi-believe is Collette taking over as Anne, although she is a bit young for the part.

Don't think it's Collette as Anne.

Don’t forget a lot of West End performers are turning down touring point blank at the moment because of the sorry state of digs and Touring Allowance/ per diems.

And I don't think the races of any characters are specified are they? I thought that was the point of this show, no?

The casting/creative team don´t want white women playing the role. All of the roles are raceblind except for Juliet.

Yes, but it is just the cover for the role and sometimes, especially on tour, you have to be a bit more flexible with understudy casting. That's why you sometimes end up with 25-year-olds playing middle-aged Dads on a tour stop in Portsmouth etc. That being said, it's just a rumour, not confirmed yet.

In a “I desperately want to perform, to be on stage but only if it’s in London” kind of way?

No, in a 'the way touring theatre works in this country is absolutely broken and doesn't work and basically isn't worth the stress regardless of how good the role is' kind of way

No, in a 'the way touring theatre works in this country is absolutely broken and doesn't work and basically isn't worth the stress regardless of how good the role is' kind of way Exactly. And with the rising costs of living in London, and having to try and rent out your existing home or room to cover that residency while you're away, it's less feasible now than it ever has been. Many friends (including leading players in the industry) have turned down touring roles that they've created in the West End because by the time you take into account the pay problems coupled with the horrific standards of available accommodation that were reported over the past few years, it's just not worth doing because of the stress involved.

Matt will be good, to be fair. He's got that "cheeky chappie swagger" vibe to him and a great voice.

The score is very "pop" too, so will likely suit his voice. I wonder if no Lance means a bit of stunt casting?

I’ve seen Matt Cardle in all 3 of his MT ventures and thought he was great in all of them, so very happy with his casting.
