Wait, wait, wait... I’ve thought the Beaches production in Chicago was a play this whole time. My bad.

I was thinking the other day is heathers going into the savoy after 9 to 5 for a limited run before mean girls moves in in 2020? The Savoy’s way too big for Heathers, even the Haymarket was pushing it a tiny bit. Also can you imagine guests of the Savoy coming out of the hotel foyer to see a load of fangirls sprawled across the pavement with their sleeping bags and pizzas waiting for dayseats 😭 Lol!

I'd love to see Groundhog Day again. Also the Playhouse could be a great venue for Spring Awakening.

There IS a Beaches musical. They did a tryout in DC and again in the suburbs of Chicago (the latter with Shoshana Bean in the Bette Midler role). The production from Chicago was supposedly the pre-Broadway run. From what I recall there was an article some time ago saying that it'll now open in London. I've heard samples from the score from a demo they've recorded with the cast of the first run, and the music is really bland. The only good number Wind Beneath My Wings, which is the only song from the movie. In this adaptation the Bette Midler character sings it in a studio in an abridged version. Alysha Umphress sang a killer version of it in the original run. I would be down for a stage version using the songs from the film, which were terrific, and additional songs to make into a proper musical. I freaking love Alysha Umphress. Still waiting for her to land that big starring role.

Assuming Caroline or Change runs its duration only then Playhouse is also empty from April onwards, is it not? Yes, another play, Oslo back in the WE from Apr 17th

Whilst it may be a way off, Erika Henningsen has hinted today she hopes to reprise Cady in the West End when Mean Girls transfers.

Whilst it may be a way off, Erika Henningsen has hinted today she hopes to reprise Cady in the West End when Mean Girls transfers. I'd be surprised if they had her be the one to transfer with the show. A transfer over is expensive enough, let alone with the leading lady. Also, there hasn't been that much attention thrown onto Erika as opposed to the three plastics, or Barrett, or even Kerry Butler for that matter. I don't think it's Erika's fault as she is great in the show, but those are the juicier role, Cady just keeps the ball rolling. In that case, I would imagine if any of the leads transferred over, the smartest choice would be Taylor Louderman with the reviews, award nominations, and that some theatre fans will know who she is (she's not famous, but you know what I mean!).

Well it’s not something I’d be posting about on Twitter unless it was possible or even likely. For me she was the highlight and was unfortunately overlooked by the big awards. With Sonia Friedman producing, she’s certainly set the precedent of bringing over US cast members in Book of Mormon.

So 2020 is shaping up to be a busy year. Frozen, Mean Girls, Pretty Woman and Groundhog Day all possibilities.

It's nice to have so much activity in the WE (and London theatre in general) because i've felt it's felt a bit stale over the last few years. I'm still wondering what mrbarnaby is referring to with his comments about what's going into The Piccadilly later this year? Any further comment Mr B?

The obvious issue is does Andy Karl transfer with Pretty Woman or reprise his role in Groundhog Day?

Pretty Woman could go to either the Savoy or Piccadilly.

I'm crossing my fingers that one of Mr Malloys' works come over here in the near future. Really hoping it's Great Comet, but who knows.

I may be doing a one man band retelling of ‘Carrie’ next year on Scarborough Seafront during the NSDF...

On the Instagram story from the Theatre Cafe account Cassidy Janson has done a Q&A saying that she’s signed up to appear in a new London bound musical but is obliged to keep the name a secret. I guess it’s not specifically West End but is possible... Let the speculation begin!

Could it be Waitress once Katharine McPhee’s done her 3 months? Technically it’s still “new” and “London-bound” right now before it opens.
