Thing is, many people have seen this show so many times, and even this version of the show several times that it has to promise something a bit special or different to rouse the interest. This doesn’t.

We’re booked in for later in the tour next year, so will be giving this a miss this time around.

Thing is, many people have seen this show so many times, and even this version of the show several times that it has to promise something a bit special or different to rouse the interest. This doesn’t. I agree and I was surprised when they announced the broadcast. I've still booked to go as it's a different cast - which is just enough of a difference for me to be interested. It will also be good to see a cinema broadcast that's run as standard, given the last one had a rotation of guest narrators for the anniversary. Philip Franks is a great narrator. Now we know there will be some understudies on, my interest has actually increased - I saw Stephen Webb as Frank on the last tour, so it'll be nice to see someone new. Jordan posted a picture on his IG from when he did the cover run in August, he certainly looks the part! Agreed though, it's a horrible double-blow for the cast members who aren't able to perform and won't get to be on the broadcast either.

Decided to skip the tour this year as I am a bit fed up of this version and ready for a "fresh" one. However we did book tickets to the screening just for the sake of something to do on a Thursday night in wet Derby. But I have to admit, I am now massively more interested in seeing this than I was before. Jordan Fox was really the only draw for me "cast" wise this tour so to see him giving his Frank tomorrow is very exciting

I bet they push out the pre-recorded version. They surely barely have enough cast to go ahead? And with the possibility of more dropping at any moment, surely it's the only real option here?

Unlesss they have filmed a show with an audience already I doubt it. I’d imagine they are hurriedly rehearsing anyone near by who knows the show 😂

It’s not an option as there is no pre-recorded version. It hasn’t been filmed yet. The entire show was recorded during rehearsals for the live broadcast to test camera angles, etc. And to be fair, there is no way that any company planning a live broadcast in 2021 is not going to have a back-up plan in case Corona gets in the way. The 2013 tour with Thornton was also professional recorded (as are most shows nowadays), so they probably have multiple options available to them should they not be able to broadcast live.

Nup, can't do it.
Been thinking about it all morning.
Can't justify £23.50.
It's a screening for Halloween

No. There is a rehearsal for the live broadcast where the show will be filmed to test camera angles etc this afternoon. It hasn’t even started yet.

I’m not sure I’d bother if someone fluffed my cushions for me, poured me a refillable large shiraz and gave me a bag full of red cables to munch on throughout. Horse…flogged …dead.

I hope it's the phantoms they get new people in for. This is an amazing opportunity for the understudies and I hope they get that chance to shine.

Very sad for the cast and for the audience who had to be turned away. Facebook gossip suggests it was due to a cast injury during warm-up. I guess they're running out of understudies. Hopefully all will be good again for tonight.
I've had to cancel my cinema attendance as I'm full of cold and it wouldn't be right to sneeze and cough around the rest of the audience. Sadly I have no understudy available either! I hope it all works out for everyone this evening, fingers crossed for you all.

Well the way it is looking, it is going to be a surprise as to what we get tonight! I wouldnt be surprised if they have been/are trying to get people in who have performed this particular version of the show before to try to fill outstanding roles. Whether that be as phantoms or replace key cast so understudies can go back to the phantom roles

Sorry but over £20 at my local Cineworld is unjustifiable. It's the same tired old production, nothing in the cast - as usual - to excite, and the poster has someone I've never heard of and don't recognise, with the hook being he's in a show I never watch.
13 seats sold, by the way.

Definitely going ahead - they’ve just announced Rachel Grundy will be on as Janet instead of Haley Flaherty. Quite the night for cover roles!
Please do post your reviews as I’m gutted that I had to cancel.

I wish I was going now! Wasn’t fussed to see the same cast again though (nothing wrong with them). Just on my way to magic goes wrong at the mayflower though.
