Was the 25th anniversary the run at the Duke of Yorks with Jonathan Morris & Diane from Eastenders? I saw it in tour but yes they were in it. Better than the atrocious Jason Donovan incarnation

The suggestion to make Rocky Horror darker and go to its roots is a good one, I've always thought it would be great to have the show staged at an actual old school cinema like the Empire Haymarket or perhaps its first home, the Royal Court.

Was the 25th anniversary the run at the Duke of Yorks with Jonathan Morris & Diane from Eastenders? I think when I say the 21st anniversary production it was with Jonathon Morris Actually just looked back through my programmes and Jonathan Wilkes was the 30th anniversary tour and Jason Donovan 25th anniversary.

Yes, Jonathan Morris & Sophie Lawrence were in the 21st birthday tour. I saw them in Manchester in 1994 with Patricia Quinn as Magenta. Eddie/Doctor Scott was played by Pete Gallagher, who went on to play Farley Flavors in the adaptation of the Rocky Horror “ sequel prequel equal” Shock Treatment in 2015. Flyers etc on my (very out of date) blog here: Link

Other than the recording I don’t think that I’ve seen it since a tour in Bristol with Ken Morley as the narrator. J Don may have been involved but I don’t remember.

Does anyone know if a production of Rocky Horror has ever had the Usherette and The Narrator as the same character? I know the Usherette and Magenta are usually played by the same person but I think it would add a different angle to Rocky Horror to have the Usherette act as the Narrator as well.

Oh wow, I didn’t know this was coming! I thought they weren’t allowed to do any further screenings of the theatre show due to the complicated rights issues.
How exciting… at the moment the website on the poster doesn’t appear to be working though!

It’s listed on the VUE website for Manchester.

Ah yes, I see it’s on in my Leamington local too!
Thanks so much for the heads up… this was totally unexpected, I’m surprised this hasn’t been announced on their social media. Maybe it’s to do with the current issues with Facebook, Instagram etc.

Saw this last night in Dublin, pretty dead audience with about 3 knowing the comebacks out of a couple of hundred people.
However, it was very good as always, with the stand-out being Suzie McAdam as Columbia who had incredible energy. Stephen Webb's delivery of a few of Frank's lines was a bit off, not getting the laughs they deserved.
Flaherty and Lavercombe are going to be in Rocky until they die, I think! Both brilliant as Janet and Riff-Raff though, of course.

I love Rocky but I can’t believe they’re traipsing out this same production AGAIN with some of the same cast, let alone broadcasting a lesser version of it to cinemas (at least the last broadcast had guest narrators including Richard O’Brien).
I’d love to see it but I can’t justify the high price of a ticket these days for a production I’ve already seen multiple times.

Maybe I'm out of touch with cinema prices but £20 seems a lot to see this, when tickets to see it live are like £25 😂

"Dammit Janet" from the broadcast has been released:
It... doesn't look great. It looks like it's recorded on someone's phone or something. A lot of the time, Janet's face is washed out by7 the light and the wide screen shots look awful too. There are literally bootlegs of the last tour that exist that are a better quality.
I really want to see this but unfortunately have tickets booked elsewhere that evening. Hopefully it'll find its way online quickly!

The above clip isn’t from the cinema broadcast, as the show to be broadcast hasn’t happened yet.
It won’t be a screening of pre-recorded footage - the whole thing will actually go out live on Thursday.
The above is taken from some recent press promo material.

Understudy Frank this week, Jordan Fox, as Stephen Webb has Covid. Pretty bad timing for Stephen but great opportunity for Jordan.

And Magenta I believe. Meaning they are short on phantoms too. Producers for the filmed version must be bricking it. Slightly regretting that I’m double booked now.

I saw the show in Southampton and am still trying to justify paying £23.50 to see it on the big screen 🤔
