7 phantoms! That does seen like a lot, does it not?
I saw the last tour, just out of lockdown at Southampton, with Ore Oduba as Brad.

I think it’s still just 4 phantoms on stage, the other 2 on the bottom row there are swings.

Is this tour already in trouble?
I've been offered 50% off tickets in some venues.

Was a bit surprised when I saw one of the cast post that they’re signed up to do it until the end of 2025, as the way things are with tours at the moment that seems absurdly long, especially when it’s been out no end of times before.

It has toured constantly for last few decades, so I guess they know it's a solid bet. Lots of repeat visitors and people know the show/movie and a bit of star casting doesn't hurt. It's like Blood Brothers or Joseph. It's just one of those shows that will tour forever.

It hasn't really stopped touring for the last few years and I imagine it is fairly cheap to tour with the basic set.

The Narrators for the 2024 section of the tour and the Dominion run have been announced.
Nathan Caton for August to December 2024 and Mawaan Rizwan for the Dominion.

I just can no longer bring myself to get excited about this production when I've seen essentially an identical show for last however many years. It almost feels like they bank on the regular fans to prop it up everywhere it goes without putting much effort into refreshing it at all. Think Darren Day may have been my first Frank in the late 90s?
Kind of a shame really. Rocky Horror was one of the first shows my parents took me to/films they showed me as a child, questionable parenting aside!

It needs a radical rethink.

Never heard of either of them. Is J Donovan in it at the Dominion? Me too Burley. I saw Jason in this when he did it about 25 years ago. - He was like a rabbit in the headlights. He just didn't know how to deal with the audience participation. I hope he's better now as am seeing it again in Bromley.

It needs a radical rethink. As sad and morbid as it sounds, I have a feeling this will remain the same until there's new creative management. The rightsholders/Richard O'Brien are happy to just parade this about and collect the winnings and won't budge into unsafe territory because the current one is making money, so it's fine. A new staging needs to have the same electricity it conducted initially.. Be completely out there, outrageous, but still pay tribute to those B-movies that the creator loved. This premiered at the Royal Court for a reason back then for god's sakes!!

It was fun the first couple of times, but now I find something like the same old upright bed scene so tedious. Having said that, though, I don't know how else you would stage it unless you somehow pay homage to the silhouette device in the film!

Mawaan Rizwan is a big draw! He's a very successful comedian who recently won a BAFTA for his performance in his self-penned BBC Three show Juice.
I hadn't heard of comedian Nathan Caton, it seems he's more up-and-coming. I just spotted on his Wiki page that he wrote CBeebies series JoJo and Gran Gran which I used to watch with my niece.
Stand-up comedians usually work well as Narrators as they're well-versed in dealing with hecklers and improvisation.
I totally agree that the show needs a major refresh, though. I'm not looking forward to seeing that tired old shabby set being dwarfed on the stage of the Dominion!

[...] Is J Donovan in it at the Dominion? Yes, Jason's doing the Dominion. Stephen Webb returns as Frank at Malvern, Cardiff, Blackpool, Wycombe, Glasgow, and Woking. Adam Strong will be Frank at Bournemouth, Cheltenham, Dartford, Darlington, Brighton, Richmond, Milton Keynes, Swindon, Shrewsbury, Oxford, and Stoke-on-Trent. I believe the other venues will all be Jason, except for Liverpool which is TBC (but confirmed as not Jason).

Jamie Lloyd's THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW I think this would actually be excellent.

I don’t think anyone’s saying that. As a lover of the show, it makes me sad that first-time audiences are seeing a run-down version of the show rather than an exciting new production.

Rocky Horror needs to be rested for a few years and let a new creative team take it over. I wouldn't go for Jamie Lloyd but I'd be up for a production that was darker and went back to the B movie roots of the original production.

Agree with others it’s such a shame that such a fantastic musical is held back by this very tired, very cheap and pretty uninspiring production.
How long has the current version been going for? Feels like 25 odd years but it’s probs not that long.
I loved the early 1990’s version that started at The Piccadilly (with Tim McInnerny and Gina Bellman) and subsequently toured. Thought both the physical production and direction were much better though granted I was at an impressionable age! It’s also the best cast recording by a mile IMHO. I’m not sure when that production finally finished!
But yeah, real shame to not have some inspired direction and production for this as sure it could once again be fabulous.
