The Boulevard Theatre is going to be revived after 25 years on the site of Raymond's Revue Bar in Soho. It will be a very flexible space, with seven different auditorium layouts. Capacity will be about 165. They are planning four in-house productions a year, both plays and musicals, alongside live comedy, spoken word. comedy and films. AD will be Rachel Edwards, founder of Tooting Arts Club. Sounds to me like they are trying to get some of the same vibe as the Soho Theatre, with a bar, restaurant and late night shows at the weekends. Opening later this year. Love the look of the Traverse stage in the artists impressions. Does look like they've been photoshopped into the building site though. Big glass windows at the back of the stage will be a nightmare though, sound reflections will be awful.

Hurrah what great news
I love the video of the revolving auditorium. Can they stage Sweeney? City on fire would be wonderful as it spins round. As would the Waltz sections from Night Music

"Latecomers will not be admitted while the auditorium is in motion." I can't tell but I assume there is a part of the place around the seats that doesn't move. I can imagine someone putting their drink down at the side. Then it starts moving and their drink is suddenly on the other side of the room. Then it's a try and grab it as the place moves back.

It's roulette, Whose* drink will you end up with..? *or is it Who's?

"Latecomers will not be admitted while the auditorium is in motion." My favourite theatre disclaimer. I remember booking tickets before previews began and being offered some for the moving platform. I asked the Box Office what this meant was told that at that stage they weren't quite sure - you'd probably just 'move around a bit during the show'. My other memory (get it) was paying £9.50 for a top price seat (not on moving platform) and thinking - wow almost £10 - that's a lot.

It's always nice to have another theatre venue, I imagine given its proximity to the West End, it'll be a popular choice for cabaret.

Agree with you on the talented cast. Although I'm not sure about piece but still miles more enjoyable than Preludes...

I do have to say however, I found the seats pretty uncomfortable. Though I do have extremely broad shoulders and was sat next to a very large fellow so that may have had something to do with it.

I thought the bar area and restaurant looked great and the toilets were excellent, but I found the fishy smell rather over powering and a little off-putting, so I doubt I could ever eat there.

Is it fishy throughout the entire theatre or just the front of house? Nooooo, just the restaurant area, the theatre is on an entirely different floor. Some may not even notice it, but I am extremely susceptible to any kind of fishy smells and I did notice a lot of it on their menu when we looked at booking a meal there. My other half didn't mention it at all and it even seemed to subside once you hit the bar area even though it is in the same room. I probably just walked past a few tables that happened to be eating fish at that moment.

- What did the shark say after eating a clown fish?
- this tastes a little funny
Seriously though I didn't smell anything fishy, well apart from my bad joke.
