There has to be a market for selling tickets to ghouls (in the spirit of Madame Guillotine),who wish to watch the daily bun-fight in the foyer of the Gielgud at every show as disgruntled pi**ed off over-entitled ’fans’ of the unavailable Boe,Ball,Lucas and Fletcher try to desperately un-load unwanted tickets and harangue the FOH staff and cause mayhem at the stage-door. Sounds absolutely dreadful and the supreme irony is that such behaviour is totally at odds with the themes of the show itself.

I didn't realise you were a lawyer, "@posterj" I do actually have a law degree, it's what made that part of your post stand out to me in the first place. All I did was explain how I read your post - sometimes posts do come across in a different manner to how they were intended, which is why I queried how you thought I'd taken you out of context, that's all. It doesn't have to be a fight, but if you want people to get what you actually mean then you have to be willing to explain if what you're trying to say hasn't come across to others as you might have intended. Nothing more confrontational than that, just trying to debate.

There's too much revolutionary angst on this thread. How distasteful. :-)

"Audience members travel miles and miles, sometimes across oceans, to see advertised stars and it doesn't seem fair that they shouldn't get something as it was sold. Its deceit, possibly fraud." I can't believe I'm having to publicly stand up for myself here. This forum feels like fight a night. I never said anything regarding sickness in this paragraph. Let's make this completely general; when someone buys something, if they don't get it as advertised when they bought it, thats deceit and POSSIBLY fraud. I do then go on to mention the slimy clauses that they put in are also there to catch you out in these situations and that's not right either. I didn't realise you were a lawyer, "@posterj" It only feels like ‘fight a night’ because you are getting yourself into them. Noticed it across quite a few threads now. Take the previous posters advice, and move on without getting bogged down in petty arguments all the time. I don't see them as petty arguments. I think they are important topics that need to be discussed. Unfortunately, other people seem to be the ones picking arguments with me for my opinion because it's different from the masses. It feels like the school playground. I have learned that some people arent willing to listen and that's ok. I won't converse with them in future.

If my posts don't come across in the manner that they should, thats not my problem. I shouldnt have to justify or explain myself to anyone, but yet that's what I feel like I am constantly doing. It's ridiculous. Anyway, I'm done with this.

I went yesterday matinee and I would have been thrilled for that. We got Boe/Carpenter and both my friend and I were thrilled (she didn't mind who else was on but wanted Boe!) I am so happy that I got JOJ/Ball, Boe/Carpenter and hopefully for the cinema broadcast Boe/Ball. It does raise a valid point about name above the title etc... but I was there for the show!

I was at yesterday's matinee too, and the most "disgruntled" comment I heard in the foyer was, "oh, that's a shame" when people read the notice of Mr Ball's non-attendance. I sat next to a lady who was a Ball and Boe fan, but she wasn't upset at all, and agreed that Earl Carpenter was just as good, if not better, than Michael.

My question is...how is this fraud or deceit? The actors are scheduled to be in the show. You are not being swindled out of your money by having them claim the actors are scheduled to be in when they aren’t. They are in the show as people have seen them. It’s not a figment of ones imagination that they are in the show. They ARE poorly.
When I saw Joseph years ago, Lee was out and Lewis Bradley was on, who was also on the tv program. They were allowing exchanges and I would have done but it was my last day before going to the US so I saw it. Was I bitter when the show started? You bet. But did I have a good time in spite of myself? Yes...and that was a production fully sold on the winner of the BBC tele show.
I just don’t understand why some people feel the world owes them something? Going to the theater is a choice.

It is a shame as there are plenty of fans who would love to see a rare JOJ/Carpenter show so you would think the theatre could come up with a way of passing tickets on. On Friday the majority seem to have returned their tickets 1 or 2 hours before curtain up, after arriving at the theatre and finding out about the absences. The only way I can think of to make "passing tickets on" possible is the theatre announcing the cast earlier during the day so people put their tickets up for returns earlier, allowing enough time for new people to purchase and travel to the venue? But that would play right into the "going for the stars and not the show" argument... I do wish they'll find a way to do that though- speaking as a JOJ/Earl fan.

I've just had a look and across Southampton's 3 cinemas this is showing on 7 screens. I assume this is similar across the country so I wonder if that is a record for a live event?

Are there different prices for JOJ shows?
For Hello Dolly on Broadway there were for Bette's alternate.

Wow, I never knew about this, as I didn't join the initial rush to buy tickets when they were first released- booked all my shows relatively on the fly. As a JOJ fan this is all sorts of outrageous to me, but not an unexpected business move from Cammack's side. The performers are literally £££ signs to him in this production. No wonder those people were so pissed off about Alfie being off.

It’s dynamic pricing, prices go up or down depending on how a show is doing.

It’s dynamic pricing, prices go up or down depending on how a show is doing. I don't know as that's strictly true... I went to the Gielgud the day tickets went on sale and the seat I bought was £40 for a JOJ night and £65 for Alfie, I checked with the Box office person cause I was curious as to whether CamMack was being a cash cow or not.

My local Cineworld has almost sold out and it’s showing in the biggest screen. An encore showing has been added for Saturday 7th which I notice is about £5 cheaper!

I've booked for Thursday night in what is meant to be John's final scheduled performance. We'll see about that. However, I am envious of those who saw the John/Earl pairing last week.
