Seeing the matinee
Wanted to see JOJ and he is brilliant as usual. Can only agree with how he singing and acting compliment each other
Disappointed that Bradley Jaden is off. Vinny Coyle gives a serviceable performance as Enjolras
I’ve think Michael Ball is fine as Javert. I’d rather see him again other others (I’m looking at you Haydn “growls like a pirate” Tee). The occasional change to the lyrics were occasionally odd (“I CAN only know one other”)
I want to see CHF again as Fantine. I enjoyed watching just her nuanced facial acting during I dreamed a dream and her singing is sublime. Say what you will about her I think she proves herself as a bonafide musical actress

David Thaxton, I saw him as Javert last summer. Very impressive. As I’ve only been to two Les Miz shows at the Queens Theatre, all I can say is he is definitely a better Javert than Bradley Jaden.
Bradley is a fantastic Enjolras and I love his Fiyero in Wicked.

Oh yes they are. I've just booked for Leigh! They weren’t on the day tickets went on sale everywhere else (and were saying on Twitter that no screenings were planned) Definitely now on sale. Was a last minute scramble by cinemas to get on sale as there was no prior warning it was coming.

So many people's dreamcasting is from the last 10 years or so. I'm going old school.
Javert - Phillip Quast from the Machester original tour Eponine - Linzi Hateley. She was my first and only Eponine Thenardiers - Barry James and Gay Soper Marius - Martin Smith Valjean - Gary Morris from the complete Symphonic Fantine - Grania Reniheim

Mine would be: Valjean: Phil Cavill or Dave Willetts Javert: Michael McCarthy or Peter Corey Fantine: Lindsey Danvers or Ria Jones Eponine: Gemma Wardle Cosette: Lisa Hull Marius: Mathew Cammelle Enjolras: David Thaxton Thenardiers: Mandy Halliday and Barry James

As someone who has only really got into this show over the last year I am very envious you have all seen so many iconic performers in the show.

A big YES to Barry James in any character actor role. His Beadle Bamford will live with me for the rest of my days. And my favourite thing about Grand Hotel by a million miles. So good to see some of these legendary names in the mix and not the same casts from the last few years. Meredith Braun was my first Eponine and, like Frances Ruffelle she had a very distinct raspy quality that was perfect for that French sparrow conceived originally. I would much rather that than the generic musical theatre belter with no soul that is typically on offer.

The only Eponine I've seen who has really worked for me is Nancy Sullivan (though I didn't see anyone from the Ruffelle/Braun era). While I wouldn't describe her voice as raspy, she certainly wasn't a generic MT belter either. I found her believable as a girl living on the streets & on her wits, and as a daughter of the Thenardiers. The other Eponines I've seen seemed to have no relationship to the Thenardiers whatsoever.

For me it would be:
Valjean: Adam Bayjou Javert: David Thaxton or Nic Greenshields Fantine: Rachelle Ann Go Eponine: Elena Skye or Danielle Hope Marius: Joshua Grosso Cosette: Jillian Butler, Amara Okereke or Zoe Doano Enjolras: Kyle Scatliffe Madame T: Helen Walsh
Honestly no Monsieur T has ever made a massive impression on me other than being very annoying, maybe the original one?

And what a performance! I share thoughts with shady23 on this: so envious that you’ve been to the show for so many times that you can actually come up with a dream cast list.

Sorry to butt in, but with these discussions about dream casts, I’ve seen one actor referred to as “the original one” and “the actor from the 10th anniversary”.
The person to whom you are referring is the LEGENDARY Alun Armstrong.

Mine would be: Valjean: Phil Cavill or Dave Willetts Javert: Michael McCarthy or Peter Corey Yes, Phil Cavill and Michael McCarthy were wonderful. Both gave such powerful performances, and Phil had a very unique voice as Valjean, which I loved. Linzi Hateley is my favourite Eponine, and I'm disappointed she never returned as Fantine. I also saw her Mme Thenardier, and thought she was great there too. Another performer (although I never saw him live in Les Mis) that I wish had returned as Valjean or Javert, is Anthony Warlow.

Getting a bit off-topic with all the dream casts...anyway, just wanted to add my dream, when I was watching the concert, was to see a performance of Les Mis that wasn't so 'rushed' to make the performance shorter. Even if it takes 3 1/2 hours for once I would love it, if the orchestra and singers could really celebrate this fantastic score without time constraints.

If only he’d been the Enjolras at the Albert Hall concert that cast would have been almost perfect (though admittedly Lea Salonga wouldn’t have been my choice). Still if we were only allowed one Secret Garden cast member then Phillip Quast almost walked away with the night with that rendition of Stars. The video/recording just doesn’t do justice to the power in that man’s voice. Nor the way he commanded the stage in the role.

My seats have been moved for the 30th November. Just had an email from the box office. Been given better seats so can't complain. Apparently they are filming this performance.

I would imagine they will be filming the entire show(s) on the 30th, for additional footage for the final DVD edit. They will also need to have a backup for the live screening should there be any technical issues etc.

Agreed, surprisingly easy - sat in the queue for about 5 minutes, then went through to the page and there were a decent number of tickets left at all price levels except the cheapest £17.50 (which I assume were only the slips anyway).
£37.50 paid for 'restricted view' in the Grand Circle, let's hope it's okay! Theatremonkey thinks so anyway, and that's enough for me!
