The casting sounds ‘affordable’ rather than ‘inspired’ across the board tbh, which normally results in knockout performances. Performers trying to make their mark are normally far more interesting than those coasting on past successes.

They will be paying for accommodation and per diems for Liisi so I’m not sure it’s actually the ‘affordable’ option! It’s probably costing a lot more than using a homegrown performer.

Is she the only person in the show?

Is she the only person in the show? I gather so yes.

Not sure how well famed duet ‘Come What May’ will turn out as a solo.

Sorry if I’m late to the party but I’ve just realised that both of the leads are American. That’s really interesting as I thought they’d have gone with British accents in the UK production. Jamie and Liisi look more believable as a couple than Karen and Aaron so I’m very excited to see what they can do.

Jamie Bogyo is as much Hungarian as he is American. Plus he was at RADA for as long as people go to RADA for. The very first line on his profile is literally about his right to work in the UK.

If these performers were cast then it's because they were deemed right for the role. None of us know how these actors performed in the auditions to get cast and how impressive they were. There have been multiple examples of a performer not setting the world alight in one role but the being fantastic in another, it's about the piece and the role and what that role gets out of them. None of us know until we see it. I'm quite excited about this cast and I'm quite confident they will do a great job.

Not the strongest of years so not necessarily an indication of quality - Aaron Tveit had no competition at all and even he has acknowledged his win is as much for his career to date than this show! Tina was never going to win anything other than the richly deserved Best Actress for Adrienne Warren's masterclass performance, and Jagged Little Pill appears to be a love-it-or-hate-it show that has self-imploded in the last fortnight. Though Danny Burstein was long overdue a Tony so that is something to celebrate. But otherwise I will reserve judgment on whether it is worth 10 Tonys until I have actually seen it!

AT did not even perform in the MR number. Unless he performed after I changed the channel at 35 minutes when it became a political show rather than entertainment.

I'm not sure what you consider political about some exceptional duets celebrating the best of Broadway (and remembering many artists lost over the past 18 months), but your loss.

That was not I was referring to, you want me to say it fine, I am talking about starting his speech with George Floyd and going on for almost 10 minutes. I did not watch to be lectured.

Are they doing anything exciting with the marquee and exterior of The Piccadilly? I'd love to see the led screen removed and for them to do lots of red neon and bulbs like the Guys and Dolls marquee. The curved facade and Soho location would be perfect for something glitzy.

I think those of us whose experience of racial inequality is that we feel “lectured at” when hearing about it during a TV awards show should count ourselves very fortunate and privileged indeed.

I’m not sure my delicate ears could have coped with it. 🙄 Carmella’s post is akin to the boorish bloke in the pub trying to impress his mates that White Lives Matter too just as much; the one who goes on about Fathers Day all the way through Mothers Day. Our lives are increasingly filled with more and more division and intolerance. By all means switch it off if it’s triggering you, but save the commentary for twitter. I’ve always thought that this was a place of inclusion and tolerance, but condoning the continued silence of those that have been without a voice for so long, is in my eyes, unforgivable.

Thanks Tom. It looks very Parisian. It's great to see the screen gone - should look fabulous when all the mouldings are lit at night.

I walked past the Piccadilly the other week and the signage really pops out in person.

Can Can table seats available through ATG. £99 each but you must buy at least 2 at a time!

£99 seems pretty punchy for what I presume is an inferior (though up close) view?
