Which of the ladies will get nominatdd from The Girls? Joanna Riding would be a natural guess, but that catagory of Leading is packed out, so she may actuslly miss out based on that. I think all of 'The Girls' will be considered together, a la Matilda's.

I'm predicting sweeps (multiple noms) by Harry Potter, Half a Sixpence and Aladdin. And I think King Lear might do well (Glenda for Best Actress, Celia Imrie possibly for Supporting, plus maybe Deborah Warner for directing).

Also, slightly hoping for a nomination for Joel Montague for Supporting in Funny Girl.
I imagine the locks on the performance side of musicals with nominations will be something like:
Leading Male: Charlie Stemp, Michael C. Hall, Andy Karl and then two more.
Supporting Male: Trevor Dion Nicolas, Tyrone Huntley, Adam J. Bernard and then two more.
Leading Female: Sheridan Smith, Glenn Close, Amber Riley and then two more.
Supporting Female: Rebecca Trehearn, Emma Williams and then three more.

The Matildas were alternating in a single leading role.

If any of them other than Joanna Riding, I'd perhaps guess Debbie Chazen in Supporting Actress if anything. It's a pretty scene stealing performance and a nice mix of drama and comedy.

Well Half a Sixpence should get at LEAST four nominations: Best Musical or Revival (either way, it will get nominated!), Charlie for Actor, Emma for Supporting Actress and Choreography. I'm hoping it gets some more as well, in my eye, I'd love to see it get all the nominations hahaha!

Am I the only one who thinks there is a big chance School of Rock is going to be majorly snubbed? I mean, I am expecting maybe a Best New Musical nomination, but not much else. And it deserves more, but it is such a stacked year of musicals!

I think its just been such a strong year for theatre in general that lots of things are going to get lost by the wayside...

Best actor in a supporting role was Nick Haverson in the RSC Much Ado. Quite brilliant.

I believe I read midday somewhere... Thanks Emila. In New York they normally do it 9am from the New York Library or the Lincoln Center.

I didn't realise New York would have a regular time or place for announcing the Olivier award nominations. Interesting spelling of "Emily" by the by...

Totally bizarre that all "The Girls" got nominated together. Same for the "Ladies of perpetual succour".
Half a Sixpence "snubbed" for Revival and Choreography...
Dreamgirls, The Girls, School of Rock and Groundhog day for best musical... I can't call it.
Harry Potter will dominate.

It that some sort of joke? Claire Foster is nominated for her rather forgettable performance in Travesties yet both Shearsmith ans Stott are robbed of Olivier nod for their knock-out duo in The Dresser? No nods for Lazarus is a rage riot from me. They deserve at least Best Actor/Supporting Actress ans Video design.

Feel that Half a Sixpence had deserved a "best revival" nomination but at least Charlie Stemp got nominated. Michael C Hall deserved a nomination, too, but it was a heavily competitive field this year with strong male leading parts all over.
Can't quibble about the "best musical" nominations, especially since I've seen only two of them.
While it feels odd to nominate several people for one award, I do think that in some cases it's just fairer than singling one person out from a strong ensemble.

Still trying to peculate the nominations, but what Mark revealed that is a shocker no nominations for Half a Sixpence.

^ Why not just make a new Best Ensemble award then…? I think it's ridiculous. The nominations are a disgrace this year. What a mess.
