Has Sheridan done every performance? If so that’s pretty impressive considering past attendance issues she’s had, but obviously she’s in a better place now 👍

Show stop due to "sound issues"... Oh no! Well at least Jason didn’t get his foot stuck again in the trap door. Poor, poor Pharaoh...

What a lovely summer of Joseph it’s been and such a great last show to finish the run.
I do hope this comes back next year!

This production of Joseph has been an absolute dream for me. Saw it on the first and last Wednesdays of the run, fantastic camp fun both times! It’s no secret that I absolutely love Sheridan Smith, I think she’s one of our greatest talents both in TV acting and on stage. I also feel quite a strong connection to her what with her struggles with mental health issues and how open and honest she is about them. I’ve had quite a struggle with my anxiety and depression over the past year and am hopefully on the mend now so seeing someone like Sheridan who’s been through so much up there seemingly having the time of her life and having 2,000+ people in the palm of her hand just fills me with joy. I genuinely think that Sheridan has a lovely sounding voice and I greatly enjoyed her singing the score both times I saw the show, she really was pretty marvelous on Wednesday and you never would have guessed she’d just come back from laryngitis! Can’t wait to hopefully see her back on stage again soon after a well deserved holiday. Jac is also fantastic, I’m sure this is only the beginning of a long theatre career. His Close Every Door was incredible both times and he’s a real triple threat. He’s also very nice to look at! Crazy that he’s only 3 years older than me and leading a musical at the Palladium! He seems to already be hinting at another exciting project coming up on his social media, can’t wait to see what’s next for him. I think Jason actually improved between Week 1 and 11 to be fair, his singing was definitely better by the end and his diction came on leaps and bounds. It’s obvious from the crowd reaction and stage door crowds that the “great unwashed” love him so well done him! This was my first production of Joseph and I’m so glad it was, it’s brightened up my summer. It is very panto but that’s what I loved about it, it’s like half musical/half variety show and just a lot of harmless fun. I’m sure we’ll be seeing this production crop up again

^Having seen this and the 90’s versions,in my opinion this was a much weaker production.Indeed I have even seen stronger touring versions.Happy that people here got a lot from this, just not my thing personally.Don’t think Linzi Hateley can ever be beaten as the Narrator and Jason Donovan was rank awful.Glad Van Fisher got some limelight from the show and she and Jac Yarrow can go on to build on their success here in other shows.

Linzi Hateley (not Hayley) was my favourite ever Joseph narrator until I saw Shanay Holmes at Kilworth House last summer.
Shanay's performance in Bridges Of Madison County is equally impressive. I hope Sheridan Smith will be back next summer but (minus the comedy) Shanay would be a worthy successor.

Typo on Linzi, due to having one eye on the cricket,lol...have corrected it...Agreed,Shanay was fantastic in Bridges and also glad that Maddison from that show has now picked up the touring SIX gig

I have this weird instinctual feeling that Jac will play Marius at some point soon, I thought about it when I saw Joseph!

This was a brilliant version of the show, I think I huge improvement on the previous Palladium 90s version for pure storytelling... it just made a lot more sense.... and bringing the kids into action, and the doubling up of Sheridan was a stroke of genius. I’ve a feeling it'll be back, and it will be more than welcome

I think I huge improvement on the previous Palladium 90s version for pure storytelling... it just made a lot more sense.... I couldn't disagree more. In this new production, having kids play Josephs older brother made no sense at all. Alot of the heart of the story was just glossed over for laughs. It was dumbed down a lot.

I couldn’t disagree more! The kids made total sense - especially as it was written for ... erm ... kids

^It’s Groundhog Day...this issue of children playing the older brothers’ has already been raised as a logic blunder that cannot be explained...when I saw it I thought it was laughably idiotic and completely weird...but hey it’s a pantomime version so nothing needs to make sense.

I finally saw the show on Friday night.
It was cheesy. It was like a panto. It was hammed up like mad. The costumes were questionable. The scenery looked shakey.
Safe to say, I loved it! ☺
The story has been done to death, it is definitely time for something new and the previous version is still on tour of the UK.
I thought Sheridan was sublime and her singing was great. Jac was such a real surprise and such a likeable guy. A huge future in musical theatre ahead I am sure. Jason was just Jason... The audience lapped it up. I was happy.

I guess nothing will ever compete with the amazing amateur version that you directed... still wish I’d seen it. What’s even more questionable is that you thought Joseph was the youngest brother 🤷🏼♂️

I saw this last night. I went in with real thoughts that I would hate it, and actually the moment SS came on, I really did hate it. Was it because I didn't like her, or because I had read so many things that it almost programmed me not to like her? I won't lie. She grew on me. It took while, but I got use to her silliness and her multi role casting, but I actually liked it. Unfortunately Im not sure if she is still recovering from illness or her voice is just destroyed, but vocally she struggles. Cant quite hit notes, had to cut them short.
I really liked Jac. He was really good. A honour to watch and I hope has a good future. Jason actually was much better than expected based on the reviews on here. His voice held well. His song was cheesy, but damn the whole audience loved it.
I really liked the new set and direction. Getting rid of the stairs was a stroke of genius and the new orchestration are to die for. The band were on form! The only band I have heard sound like that in recent years was the 42nd Street band. The lighting was a vast improvement on the last versions. Very panto style, but again it just works. It does help having the sound design by Gareth Owen however!
I wouldn't call this a panto. Its definitely better than that, but this show is staged for audience to laugh and enjoy themselves, and I can tell you last night over 2000 people did. Very rare to see a standing ovation before the actual end of the show, and well deserved it was.
In general, I loved it. Really i did. If you take it for what it actually is - its spot on. If you want decent theatre, go watch Hedda Gabler.

The kids made total sense - especially as it was written for ... erm ... kids Just because it was originally written for children to perform doesn't mean it has to be played for a child audience. We get that you love it, it's the only show you have commented on since you registered on the board and that makes me wonder how close you are to the production!
