This is the musical equivalent of a giant bag of Haribo. I went in with very low expectations, and they were blown away. It’s cheesy, glossy and fun. The wig budget must be enormous.
Vanessa was great (although her second act was vocally stronger.). The young lad who played Potiphar was brilliant. Jack was great. Jason Donovan’s diction was dreadful, but the singing Anubis statues are brilliant.
It’s no JCS, but it was a fun afternoon.

Got to see this this evening. As happysooz said above, it’s very easy to go in with low expectations, as I did. I’m glad to say that I was very impressed.
While the production isn’t the most advanced show in the West End, a vibrant spark resonated from start to finish, led fabulously by Jac and Vanessa Fisher as narrator (of whom was fantastic).
It’s worth commenting on the revived orchestrations and arrangements and how, for me, they carried the show and were a real highlight. Dr John Rigby and his team packed the production with passion and left everybody singing the oh-so-loved tunes on the way out.
If you’re seeing the show thinking it’s like the original, wipe yourself a clean slate. Instead, a fun, family-friendly presentation with a very 21st century twist. A great evening at the theatre.

I hope Sheridan is well enough to return for at least the last weekend of shows, she deserves to go out with a bang! Rather selfishly I hope she’ll be back by next Wednesday so I can see her again but I remember Vanessa Fisher having a great voice on the last Little Shop of Horrors tour so it would be exciting to hear her sing the score too.

The amount of people tweeting her saying why won't you say when you are back, you are being disrespectful to your fans, is ridiculous.

The latest NY transfer rumor in today's NY Post - theatre space seems at a premium in NY. But if "Tootsie" ends up closing before the end of the year, Joseph is said to be arriving at the Marquis Theatre for the Spring.

The show enters its last week tomorrow.
I wonder if Sheridan will be well enough to make the last shows?

Quite gutted to have seen Sheridans last performance before going off. Would have enjoyed Vanessa Fishers’ take on the narrator a whole lot more...y’know with the singing and stuff.

I caved and booked for me and my five year old to go to the matinee on Wednesday. Quite hoping to see Sheridan, just to be able to compare the two, but I would have no qualms about seeing Vanessa (Van?) again.
Oddly the website said sold out but when I clicked on the seating plan, there were about ten seats in the stalls.

Apparently Sheridan is back tonight 😊 [b1r] I'm really pleased. Would have been awful for her if she couldn't finish the run.

Hooray!!! Vanessa posted on her instagram story saying that she was back in the dressing room with the ensemble girls so seems so! So happy for Sheridan!

I really feel for Sheridan. Laryngitis is horrible and it comes from nowhere. Some of you may remember I struggled with it for weeks last winter and had to have time off from my job for it as I need my voice for my work and it just wasn’t there! I had no other symptoms so I felt like a fraud but there’s just no power in your voice it’s wierd! It’s like someone has stolen your words. And I usually have a lot of those! So my sympathies were extended to SS it’s a rubbish thing to happen to a vocal athlete and glad she’s seemingly on the mend. Mine took about about a month to come back properly!

Apparently David Walliams was there last night as Sheridan has posted a pic of the two of them.

I’m here tonight and so is Phillip Schofield!! Sheridan and Jac really are magic in this. So glad I’ve come for a return visit.

I couldn’t resist returning with my five year old (who didn’t like this as much as she liked the Lion King) and I preferred Vanessa as the narrator. I know it’s a bit like criticising the sun for being hot, but I think she’s a focus stealer and an upstager. The show felt like much more of an ensemble piece last week.
In other shocking news, our nanny, 25, asked me afterwards if the man playing the pharaoh was famous ‘because he seemed to get a good reaction from the crowd.’

His last Top 10 hit would have been before she was born and, assuming she wasn't born in the UK or Australia, she's very unlikely to have ever come across him.

Finally saw this and it was a whole load of fun. It really is the Sheridan Smith show like others have said, so your feelings about her will affect your overall feelings about the show 😄 She was a bit too much for me at times with all the mugging to the audience but it kind of works, and everyone was eating her up. I still think her voice is pretty average and this didn’t change my opinion of that, but I don’t think you really go to see Joseph purely for the vocals! thought Jac was really good and Jason was pretty terrible lol

Seriously wondering if for whatever reason that JD decides not to return next summer they could or might offer his role to Phillip Schofield?

Seriously wondering if for whatever reason that JD decides not to return next summer they could or might offer his role to Phillip Schofield? I think Schofe enjoys his Summer break too much for that to happen. I think we’d be talking a high six figures salary for that short run and I’m not sure that it could accommodate it.

Well, she was born in Edinburgh :-) I think I’m more shocked that I thought Jason Donovan was a pop star, as after she saw his pic in the programme, she says knew him from a variety of reality TV shows and didn’t know he sang. It’s fair to say though, his performance in this would not make her realise he sang.

My first West End Musical was Jason in Joseph at the Palladium... Sheridan Smith would of clouded those happy memories

“My first West End Musical was Jason in Joseph at the Palladium... Sheridan Smith would of clouded those happy memories”
It’s all a bit odd. I was dreading it having read the initial reviews and was expecting a lot more horrific mugging and overplaying than she did. There was still plenty of it but not offensively so. This may have been cos she was coming down with something or just because she was knackered at the end of a busy work week. It certainly wasn’t anywhere near the quality or as exciting as the previous Palladium version but was not the car crash that I was expecting. Jac Yarrow is an appealing if unremarkable (in this role) find and it all flies past in the blink of an eye. If you can find a reasonably priced ticket I’d give it a go.

Well it finishes on Sunday and the last week has been sold out for a while so no chance of tickets.
