Did not seem to hurt audiences at the last two. Jason Donovan and Lee Mead.

Yes we should discuss drama school shows more!!! I’m sooo pleased with the casting and a new star is born. Chris Hocking will he pleased as punch! How DO people find out about shows like Newsies being staged in the UK? I'd never heard of it until reading about Jac Yarrow here. I would certainly have tried to see it had I known. I have seen a couple of drama school shows which I only discovered by chance. Is there any central source of information about them ?

I know I took an interest in this grad year because one of them (Ben Whitehead) is the brother of Danny Whitehead and I was going to try and get to Newsies to see it. But didn't because I don't have a debit card and was begging everyone I'd pay for them to go if they got a ticket. And no one did. So now I am just jealous of everyone who went!!

Mustn't take this OT but a quick thank you for replies. Just booked a show I wouldn't otherwise have known about...

That's how I normally find out.

Front row is now on sale - we’ve just booked front row for opening night 🙂 Thanks for the heads up. Can’t believe they are still 80 quid. For a short show, the prices for this really are bonkers.... (Of course I know prices don’t relate to show length but you get my drift!)

I thought the same about Come From Away but I guess the show still costs the same to run and the actors should be paid the same as a longer show so the financials are the same regardless of show length.

Should we start a 'Drama School Shows' thread so we can all keep up to date and add in the ones we notice so others on the board don't miss out? I haven't been to any recently, but its often how i catch shows that seem to not have a life over here... I saw Bonnie & Clyde by (think) Mountview a few years ago for example...

That's a great idea. It could be combined with Amateur Shows as there's a bit of a blurred line between the two. I'm seeing Shrek at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in Guildford on Thursday which was marketed as an amateur production but is being staged by the Guildford School Of Acting, part of the University Of Surrey.
Incidentally Bonnie and Clyde is on at Southend's Palace Theatre this week, again an amateur production.

Has anyone heard anything else about this transferring to the West End after it's summer run at the Palladium? With Waitress not selling a large amount of tix, the Adelphi would be a great choice for the festive season....

I’ve not heard anything, but I do know that JD is booked into the 80’s Invasion tour end of Oct- November, so his* availability may be a problem depending on dates for a transfer. *i know I’m the only one on theatreboard who cares about this 🙂

If it does well and it transfers, they could replace him with another "name" performer...

If it does well and it transfers, they could replace him with another "name" performer... A lot could depend on whether Sheridan would transfer with the show. She'd supposed to be rescheduling her tour dates for the end of the year. Jason would be easier to replace than her I'd figure.
