God why does it have to be the Jamie Lloyd version... It’s iconic! And he is the man of the moment. Not sure something so few people saw or know about can be classed as 'iconic'

Exactly! And Lloyd and Lloyd Webber have become close collaborators with huge admiration for each other.
It was only natural if Evita was to return properly, it would be this version.

I didnt get to see it either so will definitely go this time. In fact the last, and only time I have seen Evita was when it first opened back in the 80s. Went to an early preview and sat in a box. The guy next to me had flown in on Concorde that day just to see it and was flying back to NY the next day. Needless to say I was very impressed.

At that time maybe it was cheaper than getting tickets on Broadway? lol

Maybe this will be announced at the Savoy Theatre mystery event tomorrow for the cast recording launch.
'She's come home at last' could apply to both the cd launch and Evita and a returning star (if rumours are true)
For the savoy theatre to be teasing something tomorrow, there has to be something actually happening at the theatre?

I saw the OAT production - it deserves an indoor airing. Very much looking forward to this already. It'll be the next Sunset - you heard it here first. I hope Eva twerks.

I was hoping it would be a fully staged new version but I actually enjoyed this in 2019, so I wouldn’t mind seeing it done again. I’m very curious if Sam Pauly will be returning to it, like she was supposed to do at the Barbican. I know she and Lloyd are very close.

But there is clearly some sort of launch event for the cast recording tomorrow, maybe Jamie Lloyd is involved in someway (attending or video link maybe) and he will announce it. The cast are on broadway so there obviously can't be a signing. The savoy are hyping it on on Instagram so assume someone involved will be there. Or it could just be yet another hype leading to nothing 🤣

I would have been 19 at the time and had moved from Cornwall to London the year before. God I feel old.

Thank you so much for telling us about that, wonder what they thought of the show (and hopefully outlived the Concorde)

This. Lloyd announcing Scherzinger as his Eva. That would twerk. There's a non-zero chance lol, her coming off of Sunset to do Evita would be a crazy move but I'd go and see it.

I've half heartedly followed her career since. About the only thing she's done of note since 2019 is Six, I think?

Nicole Schezinger is a bit old for Eva at 46, I think Eva will be cast with someone in their late 20s, early 30s.

Pauly is in “The Great Gatsby” on Broadway and has been with it since it’s out of town premiere.

Maybe the Andrew Garfield rumour jumped from Sunday to this. Although I can't see him as Che at all.
Jake Gylenhaal could be a great Che, but doubt he would do this so soon after Broadway.

I was about to say Mean Girls is the one show that I still haven't got good rush tickets for because they get snatched up in literally seconds. Definitely doing well lol

There is no mystery event at the Savoy tomorrow. They’re selling the cast recordings from the merch stands for an hour. That’s it.
