Antonio Banderas for Perón then!!!! One can dream :-) Btw the idea of a full blown West End production at the Palladium or Drury Lane - possibly the two most prestigious houses in London - as a “pre-Broadway tryout” is hilarious (/naïve/condescending/insulting depending upon intent). It was not intended to be insulting nor hilarious. The point was that London would be a testing ground to see if the show is working/creating buzz enough for a Broadway move. This was tried by American producers with the recent KISS ME KATE at The Barbican which I think, given the less stellar results, informed them why taking it Bway might not be such a great idea. But Antonio as Peron? Would love that!

Antonio´s wanted to do Perón, I know that. But there´s no way he´d get cast in the US given he is not Latin-American, and most recent casts of Evita in major US productions have been mostly or all Latin-American. Yeah, stupid considering how diverse Argentina was at the time, but oh, well

Yeah, stupid considering how diverse Argentina was at the time, but oh, well He'd be brilliant - sinister and menacing, as Peron should be and, as you say, Argentina has always been the most European of Latin American countries with significant Spanish and Italian influences and heritage.
