Antonio Banderas for Perón then!!!! One can dream :-) Btw the idea of a full blown West End production at the Palladium or Drury Lane - possibly the two most prestigious houses in London - as a “pre-Broadway tryout” is hilarious (/naïve/condescending/insulting depending upon intent). It was not intended to be insulting nor hilarious. The point was that London would be a testing ground to see if the show is working/creating buzz enough for a Broadway move. This was tried by American producers with the recent KISS ME KATE at The Barbican which I think, given the less stellar results, informed them why taking it Bway might not be such a great idea. But Antonio as Peron? Would love that!

Antonio´s wanted to do Perón, I know that. But there´s no way he´d get cast in the US given he is not Latin-American, and most recent casts of Evita in major US productions have been mostly or all Latin-American. Yeah, stupid considering how diverse Argentina was at the time, but oh, well

Very stupid. Exactly who would be gatekeeping this?!

No not at all. If you told them she is the 'Angela Bassett did the thing' singer then they may recognise her, but considering how poorly that went down I don't think it would encourage people to book. Plus wasn't her solo show a slow seller? I think they would definitely need a big name as Che to help fill the Palladium Exactly! Ariana will have extremely limited box office appeal for, what, a 12-14 week season in one of the biggest houses. However, Evita stands (or doesn't) on the casting of 'Eva' so I'm all for someone who can sing the s*** out of that score - and she sounds like she'd have no problem doing that at all. Surely, the way forward is Harry Styles (or a.n.other) as 'Che'! Could she sing it though? I don't know, it's just the thing that stood out with that Bafta performance she did (aside the cringe) was how out of breath she sounded.

After seeing her London concert I would say she can definitely sing it.

I am also skeptical on her vocals - Ariana seems to have a sweet ensemble voice to me not a power house leading lady voice. However, the one thing I have learned to do is trust Jamie Lloyd. If Jamie Lloyd thinks she is the right person, I think she is the right person.

Since 'Sunset Boulevard' was appropriately retitled 'Sunset Blvd' to reflect the director-authored changes to it, I'd happily see a different version of 'Evita'...on my wish list:
Take it back to the Concept Album orchestrations & Restore the 'Che as research chemist/student' and 'insecticide' subplot - bring on all the eccentric staging that might match 'Kapow! Die!' Cast Julie Covington, as Eva ghosting her own life.

Hope everyone likes black and white photography I heard AB wouldn't be able to do it as he has a film/arts project going on and it's a cast of ALW veterans but I would love to be proven wrong as I absolutely adooooooooore him

Ariana Debose has been signed. Promo shoots are happening now. Interestingly I did hear Antonio was approached to play Peron but I don't know if he's actually been cast. No doubt I’ll get caught up in the hype and my love of Evita and end up booking for this, but a bit disappointed if it’s definitely Ariana 😟

As suggested above I would love in they did the concept album. It’s still my favorite version of the show.

As suggested above I would love in they did the concept album. It’s still my favorite version of the show. 2026 will be the 50yr anniversary of the concept album. Not quite a match next year, otherwise I'd think that's what they were up to. But I can hope... I remember seeing Cameron Mackintosh's tour of 'Oklahoma!' in 1980 (before ALW 'made him' hehe). So that was 37 years after that show was first staged - it looked quaint and old fashioned, but perfectly 'nice'. Of course, it's been given a radical interpretation recently. But I think 'Evita' has held up pretty well musically/lyrically, and the collision of showbiz & politics has become more relevant than it was in the 1970s. Horrible thought that the musical may well have had some influence on that.

I'd love for them to do a new box set like they did with JCS and a show more leaning into that version would be brilliant, much like they did with the JCS revival
