Exactly what I thought when I saw her a couple of weeks ago. She told us the director had asked her to do an accent "Do an accent. Any one you fancy!"

There was an awful lot of raised eyebrows when The Piecrust Players announced they would stage Man of la Mancha...

Well I didn't hate it all. My night started well when I saw Thunderbird had a branch on villers street so I scoffed tasty chicken before heading to the Coliseum. The balcony was shut and it looked like they had moved everyone forward in the upper circle, the circle and stalls were fairly well populated and no doubt due to deals it was a more diverse audience than might usually be in attendance on a tuesday evening. The overture sounded wonderful but the orchestra seemed to creak along with the show until after the bows where they played the audience out beautifully.
I admired Nicholas Lyndhurst's ability to sleep standing up or that is what it looked like he was doing for the long periods he had nothing to do. Everyone has a different accent was a weird choice as noted above, some more jarring than others. But I thought the cast did what they could.
Wish they had had a better fight choreographer.

Yes, I felt sorry for Nicholas Lyndhurst, as like the ensemble was on stage almost throughout the show with nothing to do but watch. But at least the ensemble were sat down watching. They must be nearly asleep at times - I know I was!!

Wish they had had a better fight choreographer. Think they had to take Kelsey's limited agility into account. Thought it was well managed considering this.

Think they had to take Kelsey's limited agility into account. He seemed to be limping the night I saw this. It's a big stage to get around at a certain age and all those stairs! Poor Glenn Close had to climb lots of stairs in Sunset too - they must have a thing for stairs at the Coliseum!

I was okay with the hammed up fight scene with Kelsey, that fitted. It was the ensemble passing round Cassidy that was very clunky to me, I was sat at the extreme side and it might have played better in the middle.

Or played better if you sat in the bar!
At those prices all seats should give a perfect view. Lonny Price and his team really should know better

I can assure you that scene would not have played better from any seat in the house. It was most uncomfortable to watch. I could not believe the creatives thought this was in any way appropriate in 2019.

Hard to explain. More or less, a group of men lift her on to a table centre stage, then start shoving her around between them, and sort of reduce her to a packet of meat being thrown around. Then they start holding her down and pulling at her. It's genuinely horrible in every single way. Sounds similar to what happens to Anita in WSS TM you have described a truly horrible situation and one that happens today in every country in the world. We live in sad times

We live in sad times Yes, but the way it was choreographed here somehow glorified and made an entertainment of this event. It’s difficult to explain. I am no prude and wasn’t “shocked “ just deeply uncomfortable watching the staging of this.

To my mind there should have been accurate warning about this, I was with a friend who is a survivor of domestic abuse, and the graphic depiction of Aldonza being headbutted was particularly extreme/borderline trigger inducing.

Are they still banning you from taking water in to the coliseum?!
Do they just make you empty it or take the bottle off you? I have a fancy bottle that keeps my drinks cool so won’t take that if they steal it!!

That said, when I was there on Tuesday they only glanced into my bag, and there were no confiscated goodies to be seen around the security people, so I think they might have eased the no food /drink rules. Worst case scenario would be to be made to empty the re-usable flask. They did that to me on my first ever visit there for Carousel. No problem with empty bottles or flasks AFAIK.

I think they have definitely relaxed. I booked Man of La Mancha on Todaytix rush then remembered I had loads of sweets and stuff in my bag. Nothing on my booking process said the rules so would be hard to enforce but I made sure they were at the bottom of my bag under my jacket. Only got a cursory look anyway!

Wanted to see this tonight. Loads of tkts left on the website. Didn't want to pay the booking fee as I only wanted a £15er. 7.20 went to box office. Was told There's nothing left at £15 that levels closed we can sell you a standby at £25.
I left.
Utter nonsense.

Unless I missed it, I see now it is ending, they are advising adult themes and not suitable for under 12!

Because of one unpleasant and in my opinion unnecessary scene most definitely not suitable for under 12s.
Though - and I say this as a fanatical musical theatre goer who enjoys 99% of everything - not great for over 12s either because it's dire. Currently in my personal enjoyment chart it's number 107 out of 110 shows I've seen in 2019.
