I've booked on a cheapo deal for next week, I figure if I enjoy the orchestra I'll have had my monies worth.

24 hour offer on todaytix - dress circle for £25 or upper circle for £15, looks like this is available for all dates for the rest of the run. You'll probably get better seats through the daily rush but a good offer if you need to book in advance! Based on @theatremonkey 's post if you go midweek you might be better booking a £15 upper circle seat and hope for an upgrade I want to see it. I love a theatrical car crash but 15quid is too steep for this tight fisted Yorkshire man Wow things must be bad if a West End show isn't even worth £15!

Its disappointing to see so many people jumping on the bandwagon to badmouth the show particularly as this is a board for theatre lovers and many contributors haven't seen it. It's a bit of a museum piece but you can't fault the orchestra, Danielle de Niese, Peter Polycarpou and Rodney. Kelsey Grammer is an icon and from the perspective of iconography I can see why he was cast. Cervantes/Quijote have the same superior, pompous and slightly deluded qualities as Frasier and though he's not a great singer, he has enormous stage presence. At £75 a seat it's a bit meh but for £15 it's an absolute steal to see an acting icon, top quality opera singer and a historic show that (given how much the producers will have lost on this production) we won't see again in London for a generation.

Love is...I am working on the Janson press night so my partner, who hates writing but also hates paying for things, is reviewing for the blog. He likes Kelsey, he used to see Lyndhurst in the Co-Op he used to work in on the south coast. I am looking forward to hearing about it, at least Cassidy Janson can act and sing...

Ooooh, calibrate!!!

Fair point theatremonkey, I've posted negative comments on things I didn't enjoy on this site. My reference to badmouthing was aimed at earlier posters who seemed to want this this to fail before it even opened followed by a lot of naysayers who've never seen it.

I have been peculiarly negative about this project from the outset, not necessarily due to it being a bad show, but because the bad producing was so spectacularly evident from the outset.
Lazy and/ or presumptuous producing brings all theatre into disrepute and this show has reeked of vanity and self-delusion from the outset. The wrong-headedness of the whole affair has only been confirmed by the misfire of a performance that has been disappointing to a large number of reviewers and audience members.
Of course we want epic, star-filled, wonderful shows in the West End! Hooray for the large and small wonders of the West End, from Six to Matilda to Follies to Ute Lemper's Dietrich cabaret!
But mis-cast, poorly advertised, over-priced turkeys deserve everything they get.

If they mean a fire alarm was activated, then say that.
"Device activation" immediately makes me think of something far more sinister and terrifying. It sounds like it wasn't that but shows how the choice of words is so important.

It’s very badly worded. When I first read it, it sounded like somebody had switched their iPhone on at an inopportune moment!

How very badly worded that Tweet is! It makes it sound so sinister and will no doubt unnerve some audience members or potential ticket buyers. Why they couldn't just state that a fire alarm had been activated is beyond me.

HAsn't this production been plagued by such events from the get-go -- a friend of mine was turned away from a preview due to electrical issues .... all sounds very suspect.

HAsn't this production been plagued by such events from the get-go -- a friend of mine was turned away from a preview due to electrical issues .... all sounds very suspect. That's what I was thinking. A headline about the situation, using the phrase "device activation", appeared at the top of some news highlights page on my phone yesterday (I can't remember what page it was). It's almost as if they knew their wording would create curiosity and subsequently make good clickbait.
