Much as I love Marisha I’m fuming at this! I went to her “last show” especially thinking it to be her last show and to catch her a second time and sacrificed the chance to ever get to see Kelly Agbowu as Becky and now she’s bloody coming back three months later 😂 You should know by now that “last show” for a waitress cast member means nothing 😆 Happy for Marisha to be back, if only for a couple of months. I don’t much about Evelyn Hoskins but she’s a Laura doppelgänger so maybe they think people won’t notice the diff! 😜

Do we know if Marisha ended her contract earlier? Maybe there was a deal for her to come back to do some of the months missed.

I think she took a break to honour previous touring commitments that she may have had before agreeing to Waitress.

Thrilled for Evelyn to get this role, she'll be perfect for it.

Evelyn has certainly had a busy few months. Cruel Intentions at the Edinburgh Fringe, Assassins at the Watermill and Nottingham Playhouse, Cinderella at Sheffield Lyceum, and now Waitress!
Can only agree that, as with Laura, Evelyn should be a brilliant Dawn. Will definitely be returning to the Adelphi when Lucie and Evelyn are on together.

I am so glad that Evelyn has been cast and Marisha is coming back. I went to see Waitress again last week with my mum and I was so disappointed in the ‘new’ Dawn and Becky played by Hannah and Sandra. I thought they were both terrible, Hannah can’t sing and Sandra threw away so many of Becky’s sass and funny lines it was criminal. Lucie and David were amazing as usual. Mark Wiltshire was on as Earl and he too was fantastic - much better than Tamlyn plays him. Joel as Ogie was ok, but not as funny or endearing as Joe made the character. New Nurse Norma was great. Andrew Boyer as Old Joe had me in tears during his song, very moving. I really didn’t like the new Cal - please come back Stephen Leask.
Overall the show has lost its original sparkle right now for me. I hope that Evelyn and Sara and the return of Marisha bring it back.

is that as in Waitress will still be there so it can't, or another show will be in there? Joseph is going on tour after the Palladium. Not loving to another theatre. A couple of other shows are vying for the Adelphi and Waitress won’t last until October. Do we have any news on venues yet?

Got to see this tonight and there were quite a few understudies on. First time seeing it in London and I think the upper circle was closed. Olivia was on as Jenna and I thought she was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed her overall performance more than when I seen Jordin Sparks in the role in Broadway.

Second time seeing Olivia as Jenna and I agree, she is amazing. A toss up between her and Katherine McPhee for my favourite portrayal of Jenna. What did you think of Dr Pomatter? I must admit, while I’m always happy to see an understudy I really missed David Hunter tonight. I felt Matthew was struggling vocally at times. It was only his second or third time ever in the role so as time goes on maybe he’ll warm up to it.

I thought Dr. Pomatter was very good especially considering it was his first or one of his first performances. I was hoping to see David though as I loved his voice when I saw him in Kinky Boots. I quite liked Hannah as Dawn too, not the best singer but still very good, and she was very likeable. Marissa as Becky was good too, however, the woman playing the role when I saw it on Broadway was older and I couldn't help think Marisha looked a bit too young for the role. Still think Olivia is the perfect Jenna, she even sang the soft subtle ending of 'she used to be mine' instead of belting the last note, so I was very happy with that 😂.

I really want to see Olivia as Jenna again but whenever it gets announced last min I can’t go! 😩 I found her really endearing but didn’t think her voice is on the same level of Kat and Lucie, but then I’ll bet she’s grown into the role a lot also. She was pretty shaky when I saw her but I think a lot of that was nerves, and she’s still really young!
I know Sarah is sick, but is Lucie also? Lucie has had so many shows off since she started. Surely they can’t all be scheduled?

Also will post here because this thread is active 😬 but I’ve just come back from a broadway theatre trip, and got to go to the last ever Waitress! 😭 What an amazing night and incredible atmosphere - it was so evident how loved the show is, and how tight the company is. The final curtain call and speeches were 😭❤️ And Kat ran straight to Stephanie Torns (ensemble and understudy Jenna who’s been with the show from the very beginning) to share her final bow with her which was such a special moment and a real classy thing to do! 😭 And Stephanie also got a minute standing o when she came on as Francine Pomatter which stopped the show and was a really beautiful moment, as her and kat basically just started crying from the emotion of it all 😰 (it’s the scene where Francine grabs Jennas hand so Stephanie and Kat we’re just holding each other all “wtf is going on right now” )😆😭😍 Everyone put on an amazing performance, and even though I’ve seen the show on broadway quite a few times previously, I hadn’t for a while, and it really hit me how much more intimate the Brooks Atkinson is compared to the Adelphi, and I think better suited for the show. Also, it was just so nice to see everyone completely at the top of their game! Like I loved Jack McBrayer as Ogie and Joe was cute but Chris Fitzgerald is just a different level completely. Don’t get me wrong, I love the London production (and the OGs especially) but it’s such a well oiled machine on broadway! So glad I was able to be part of a special night! Oh and paul you’ll be pleased to know Kat did the softer SUTBM ending also lol, but she went for it big time with the first “miiiinnnnne” and killed it 😍 Oh and we ended with a cast and audience “Everything Changes” singalong which Sara got us all to do which was amazing! Here’s some insta posts with the curtain call and some clips etc, but there’s loads of vids of them posted on YouTube 👍 http://instagram.com/p/B7AcZ_8gptw http://instagram.com/p/B6_GSvlgluU

Surely they can’t all be scheduled? How amazing that you got to see the closing night on broadway! And especially with Kat, she really is phenomenal in the role. I will say, I listened to some clips on YouTube that people had recorded from Olivia’s first show or two as Jenna and I agree it was a bit shaky. However I have seen her twice now as Jenna, both times quite recently and it is clear that she has improved hugely. She has certainly grown into the role. Although she’s probably a little too young for it she sings it beautifully and has excellent chemistry with the cast, especially fellow original cast members. Hopefully you can make it to another one of her Jenna shows before it closes! I wonder about Lucie too! I noticed she had asked on Instagram for a spa recommendation for Wednesday, so I can’t imagine she would have been too sick if heading to a spa. Perhaps just some r&r? I also agree she seems to have been off quite a lot, I mentioned it earlier in the thread but no one seems to know why. I would love to see Sarah’s Dawn as I feel her personality would really suit the role, I hope she’s feeling better soon.

Never been to a final show before and the atmosphere was like nothing else. Yeah, that’s why I want to see Olivia as Jenna again, because I know how much Jenna is a role you can really grow into. Like, I first saw Kat as Jenna on Broadway last year and then this year on the West End, and finally again for the final Broadway show, and it’s amazing how much she’s really grown into the role during the 8/9 months or so she’s played her. And if anything her voice was better than ever on Sunday! ❤️ I do think Olivia is maybe a little young for a Jenna but it also gives the character a different context, so it’s nice to see a different interpretation. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to see her before the run ends! Yeah I’ve just found it strange with Lucie. Like I know she’s had some holiday also but in addition to that there are lots of days she’s had off. Kat had like 3 scheduled days off during her run and that was pretty much it, but I guess maybe they’re more flexible with Lucie because she’s isn’t as much of a ‘name’ - or maybe she’s just been ill a lot idk 🤷♀️

Or if they'll send Leanne the dance captain on?

Guessing Olivia was taken ill at the last minute then? Otherwise surely they would have been able to give more notice about cancelling the show. Glad to see Liv's putting her health first even if it does mean a cancelled show which ideally no one wants to see happen

Or they're pulling a classic Waitress and Sara happens to be in the UK already to make her early debut?

If they’re getting Lucie to travel back (if she is on hol rather than sick) then shouldn’t they have cancelled her hol knowing Sarah was def sick, so they didn’t leave Olivia as the only Jenna? Or maybe Leanne will be doing it tonight but wasn’t to go on a such short notice!

Apparently tonight’s show is cancelled as well.
Edit: according to Twitter they're doing a concert version of the show with a few songs and they're still giving refunds.

People are a still travelling for tonight's show as there has been nothing on the shows official social media that it is cancelled.
That is very poor communication. Must do better!
