Have been looking to book for Woking but ATG... even when I'm logged in as a member I can't get rid of the wretched booking fee. Wonder how much business this is costing them long term - not to mention the frustration and stress it causes customers?

I don’t pre-book as often any more; just keep an eye on the seating plan and turn up on the day. I recently looked at booking Blood Brothers in Malvern and their booking fees were over £9 for 2 mid price tickets. Yes ATG is bad, but some independent venues are even worse.

Wonder how much business this is costing them long term - not to mention the frustration and stress it causes customers? I had that when we started booking things again and I had to ring them up. There was something wrong on my account they had to fix. good luck!

TY BurlyBeaR. I recalled lots of posts re this so read back pages but couldn't see that ATG had fixed it or that anyone had hit on an online workaround.

Here tonight in Bristol. Lovely performances by all. Not just the same ones as in London but thought and actual acting by the leads. Its a little bit lost on the big ol’ Hipp stage but that doesn’t matter. The sound however, from the back of the circle (hello £13 price promise) is woeful. I’m sure there are proper words for it, but you can’t hear the male voices at all…anything low, and there is no brightness or colour to it. Hope the second act sounds better because this is a fantastic production.
Edit: it didn’t unfortunately. Matt Willis & Sandra Marvin’s mics were so muddy you could not define words. Everyone else sounded ok but so quiet. Its a shame too because you could tell that if you were up close watching them they’d have been giving a performance. Matt’s neurotic Pommater was just mumbling until he sang.

I’ve always found the hippodrome to be hit or miss w acoustics, doesn’t help when you have a touring show that may struggle to identify sound problems before they then leave a few performances later Also, How did you grab that £13 seat? I bought in person last week and cheapest I could get was £19,.. but still not complaint as I’m front grand circle tomorrow

I check each day the week before a show I want to see and it’s usually early in the week that they’ll reduce all single seats to £13/£19/£22 dependent on show/day. Beats paying full price or sitting in the upper circle and haven’t missed a single show from the stalls yet doing it that way. Hoping to catch Waitress at some point later in the tour. Enjoy the show!

I bought it two and a half years ago. Less and less productions seem to take part in atg’s price promise any more. Like you say, it’s easy enough to snag a £25 single on the day though.

I really love Waitress but can't find the money to travel to see it on the tour yet, Oxford is nearest to me.

agreeing with the comments on the male voices, Matt as Pomatter in the same tone with quickly spoken dialogue is impossible to hear!! wishing a few on stage would just pronounce the words a little more .. Chelsea is a huge highlight for me as Jenna, unreal singing voice

Chelsea was indeed stunning in the role. A beautiful performance with spot on accent & vocals. I would love to hear her sing and more importantly act Fantine in the near future.

The sound must be a production based problem as when I saw the show in Sheffield it was terrible!
You couldn’t hear much of the dialogue and the cast were drowned out by the band the entire show.

It’s a little disappointing, although I could definitely understand everything from Jenna and Ogie ,-yet Pomatter, Earl and Becky’s lines were sometimes lost which I blame the accent /rushed lines for

Saw this last night and really enjoyed Chelsea's performance, she has a pretty and strong voice that really shined during the climaxes of the songs. I will however say this production isn't as tight as the west end show (obviously) with some scenes feeling incredibly longer than I remembered, though this might have been a chemistry issue with Chelsea and Matt.

I saw the matinee at Woking yesterday and really enjoyed it. Not quite a full house but decent and quite a mix of age ranges as it's half-term here. I'd never heard of Chelsea Halfpenny until I read about her here but I'm definitely a fan now: her voice is so beautiful and also powerful when it needs to be. Not having seen the show before (my booking for the West End production was cancelled when Covid started all but 2 years ago) so had nothing to compare it with but was very happy with what I saw.

I saw Waitress tonight, seeing as it’s a small cast and a Saturday night I was surprised how many cast were out with 3 main people out and 4 swings, hope they haven’t got covid in the cast! I loved it but we were right at the back, great view but my parents missed so many jokes and lyrics from the sound and accents but mostly the sound. Interesting to see others commenting about the sound. My parents even missed a lot of she used to be mine lyric wise (amazing performance from Aimee). It felt like all their mics were set slightly wrong but I’m assuming that’s deliberate? None of us understood what they were singing about when multiple people were singing at once. Very talented performers, it’s not them but it meant my parents found it hard to follow and at times I was thinking about their microphones rather than lost in it

How weird - I wonder why it isn't being fixed?

When I saw it in Bristol I bobbed downstairs to talk to whoever was on the desk but they’d already gone for a wee/fag/cupoftea&asandwich so didn’t get a chance to say anything. They can’t be unaware? Surely?

I’ve always found the sound for Waitress to be underwhelminly quiet, especially compared to the cast album.

Surely? We had a bit of a ding dong on here a few years ago where members of the profession made it very clear that they didn’t appreciate being approached by customers wishing to comment on problems with the sound. So you might have had a lucky escape!

So you might have had a lucky escape! Oh I can well imagine. What would a paying customer know about what they couldn’t hear? The very nerve! Artists don’t appear to be very resilient when it comes to feedback do they? If you put your work out there to be enjoyed you also put it out there to be judged. Deal with it buttercup. As long as it is done constructively and with good nature then it should not be taken offence to.

Saw this last night. Matt Willis was absolutely terrible. Spoke really fast, and was so quiet. He mumbled everything. I've read that there are issues with the sound and I do agree as I found it to be very quiet, however Matt was just not good.
Sandra Marvin was also a weak link for me. Could just about understand what she was saying when she spoke but when she sings she makes a very nasal sound and I had no clue what any of the lyrics were, and I have seen the show before.
Chelsea, Evelyn and the rest of the cast were amazing though. So glad I got to see this show again.

It's coming to Newcastle very soon but I won't be going as it seems like only yesterday I saw it just down the road in Sunderland. Checked and it was the very end of October so not that long ago.
I wonder why they don't leave bigger gaps between local venues although I suppose most theatre attenders will not travel further than their local theatre.
Newcastle seems to be selling a lot better than Sunderland did.

Waitress UK tour have cancelled their Inverness dates, 5th-9th April. I suspect due to ticket sales.
