- A dude sneezed during Laura and Jacks scene after Jack’s solo, and Laura completely broke and it literally stopped the show for what seemed like minutes because she couldn’t stop laughing and couldn’t compose herself for ages! 🤣 Which set Jack off laughing too and it ended up a big amazing mess lol! It was Jack who sneezed, that's why the cast couldn't hold it together I didn’t realise it was Jack! 😆 I didn’t think Laura would be able to continue with that scene lol

Has it already been posted on here that apparently Ashley was due to play Jenna and replace KMP but couldn’t sing it so they cast her as Dawn, and Laura is staying on as standby during Ashley’s run?

Long time lurker, first time posting! Saw this when Lucie was on for the week and thought she and Laura were phenomenal. Have a few friends in seeing it tonight who saw it with Laura and they have said ‘this is a prime example of negative stunt casting’ about Ashley 😬 hope she gets better the more shows she does!

It'd been posted that Laura is apparently staying around as cover for Ashley, but I hadn't heard that Ashley was considered as Jenna - how legit is the source because I'm not sure how much I believe that?! Anyone at the show tonight?

Buzzing to hear an audio of Ashley later! I've seen lots of negative comments but not sure if those are from people who had made their mind up that they weren't going to like her before she had even set foot on that stage.

Apparently even Jack McBrayer would’ve sung When He Sees Me better than that... where is Nicole Scherzinger when you need her?

Ashley was going to fail before she even set foot on the stage, simply because of the way she was brought in. The vocal fans will make sure of that.
They'll say she was terrible, bookings won't go up and the show will close early. Great job fans!

I was in tonight. Blake was very good - utterly charming and he can actually sing pretty well. I think Never Ever Getting Rid of Me was back in its original key. He kept some of Jack’s hot coffee skit but had lots of his own touches too.
Ashley fared less well, but was honestly not as bad as she might have been and I’m hopeful that she might improve over the run. When He Sees Me has been lowered for her and right now she’s not hitting the high notes strongly but that could come with time. Her acting’s not bad.
Lucie was wonderful as when I saw her the first time. Her Jenna is rather more feisty than Kat’s southern belle and I love it. She and Michael Hamway, who was Dr Pomatter tonight, work very well together.

However people might feel about Ashley in the role, for someone to go tonight, on her debut, and then write this on one of the guest checks post it up on the wall of the Adelphi is such a d*ck move! 😐

I’ve seen the show around 16 times now, 3 in NYC and 13 here and this was the best of the 3 times I’ve seen Lucie. Ashley can just about hold a tune, and I think she can act. She’s still a little wooden as Dawn, but that could be nerves. Singing wise, it’s the material. She’s just too weak vocally to sing such a big song well. The sing-speaking was fine but it’s clear she was only in PCD to dance - I am sure there were bum notes in an already lowered song.

The general feeling in the building is that Ashley is a very nice person but dire in the role. She can’t sing and she can’t act. They are just hoping the show survives long enough for Laura Baldwin to resume the role. Truth is, it’s days are really numbered. There is so much bad feeling towards the show after the way the Producers treated LB.

Shows announce booking extensions all the time to try and give the impression they are doing well. And then close 2 weeks later.

Just heard an audio of Ashley’s When He Sees Me on twitter. Oh dear. I want to give the girl a chance but it really was pretty awful, the key being lowered ruins the song a bit too. Hopefully she’ll get better with time but not a great start😬

I feel very sorry for her, she was probably so excited about the role but has been bombarded with messages saying it's a disgrace she got it because of how Laura was treated and Laura is a million times better. No wonder she is nervous!
We are all entitled to our opinions but you do not @ the person. That's bad form. A minority of theatre fans really need to get over themselves. All this was beyond her control. Blame the show not her.
The show have really set Ashley up for a fall here. She can't win!

All this was beyond her control. Blame the show not her. The show have really set Ashley up for a fall here. She can't win! Totally agree. For sure the whole situation hasn't helped Ashley, as having people basically expecting you to fail and ready to call you out the moment you put a foot wrong cannot do much good to your nerves. And yet... she must have been aware she was unfit and unprepared for this kind of job, right? I'll try to make it clearer with an example... Let's say that, a few years ago, you worked for some time at a small cafe which used to serve the typical brunch items, and enjoyed a certain success and popularity. Everybody loved to go there on a Sunday, although it was mostly because the owner made a really great bloody Mary and was charming AF, while you were mostly in the kitchen making scrambled eggs. Cue to today, you haven't worked as a cook in a while, yet for some reason you're offered to go work for a couple of months at a Michelin star restaurant, and of course you're going to have to deliver that kind of quality each night of the week. It also happens that the patrons have fallen in love with the delicacies the sous chef who's going to be off during that time would cook as specials. Would you really accept the job on a whim? What can ever make you think it'll all be just fine? You have to know from the start you're highly likely to screw things up!
