To be fair sister act in only doing a week at most venues, wonder if it would sell two weeks.
Not a fan of Alexandra to be fair, I didn't like sister act. The whole production was a bit weird.
Only can see it going into a small venue in London.
I guess Alexandra is limited to what leading ladies, she could play. I have heard she will not do Dreamgirls, as she likes all the attention on her, she wouldn't have that.
Time will tell I guess.

I have just looked at official website. Alexandra is not performing in Dublin. I was going by the Bord Gais site which said she was. Apologies I should have checked the official site. She sold it out the first time it was here. Not sure they will sell the full week without a name in the role.

I don't even think Alexandra is that amazing in it myself. Bodyguard tickets in the west end, didn't sell that well when she was in it. She does have her crazy fans, that will follow I suppose. I feel there's too much talent in the west end for this show to compete. Alexandra was the best selling of all the West End Rachels in the original run. Sales rocketed, and that's when there were discussions about the show transferring to another venue, because they'd already lost the Adelphi to Made In Dagenham. The tour sold phenomenally well, as has Sister Act. Whatever anyone thinks about Alexandra's performance (I wasn't the biggest fan, personally), there is absolutely zero doubt that she sells tickets for whatever she is cast in, and a lot of them. That's a shame if people are buying tickets, thinking she is performing. Surly she will do it, if she's taking it into the west end.

I don't believe she has been offered Dreamgirls, let alone would she turn it down due to wanting to have all the attention on her. She is not an Effie and her tone is completely different to Liisi LaFontaine- I can't imagine her doing Deena either. This does sound like another fabrication and I'm beginning to wonder whether a number of the accounts posting here recently have been set up for this express purpose.

I saw Sister Act in Edinburgh Playhouse and I must say I really enjoyed it! I've never heard of Alexandra Burke before in my life and I definitely didn't go there to see a "celebrity". I went to see it, because I loved the original movie and the Original Recording of the London cast. The show is funny, well put together, Mother Superior was hilarious and very on the point with her quips and jokes. I also liked the set and the fluid changes between the church and club settings. Overall, very fun evening!

She's in talks for a takeover in a long running west end show. A role that will be the first in the show's history and good for them for thinking of it. Cryptic I know but you'll soon find out.

The only roles I can think of in long-runners that (to my knowledge) haven't had black women play them yet are Fantine (assuming we count Rachelle Ann Go as asian rather than black) and Donna in Mamma Mia, but I think she's still a bit young for the latter!

I heard a rumour she is taking over from Sheena Easton in October.

Possibly Miss Hannigan in Annie ?? I think she would be too young personally but I'm struggling to think of what roles it may be if it's a 'first' for someone like her to play the role.

Random, out there suggestion, but Lauren in Kinky Boots? She was hilarious in Sister Act, and it sounds crazy, but a black woman has never played that role and would certainly boost ticket sales that are already good!

That's a good suggestion even if I think her voice is quite low compared to the women that have previously played her. Especially if Matt leaves this cast change and they don't get a 'name' into replace him. I'll throw Miss Honey into the bag too.

Haha see, when I typed it, I thought it was crazy, but thinking about it, it could be a good suggestion! I think if she did Miss Honey though, that is a role that is supposed to be low key and calm, I have a feeling she may steal focus as Miss Honey.

Matilda doesn't need to stunt cast, they wouldn't cast Alexandra Burke at all.

Some of these suggestions are possibly pushing the boundaries of "long running". I don't know that I'd include Kinky there, and although Annie is a reasonably old show, this is a brand new West End excursion.
Hey, maybe she'll be Miss Trunchbull. Bertie Carvel did say back in the day that he'd like to see both men and women playing the role, and no one entirely knowing which they were seeing, and it actually not mattering at all.

Yeh personally I couldn't see her as Miss Honey but I thought I may as well say it to see what other people think. Matilda certainly doesn't need any stunt castings right now.
I forgot he said 'long running' so maybe a role in kinky boots is a long shot even if the more I think about it, I would like to see her as Lauren.
Fantine seems the most likely as I can't remember ever seeing a black woman playing the role but correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm thinking Thriller Live! Would having a female play the lead male part work, I haven't seen the show?

I'm thinking Thriller Live! Would having a female play the lead male part work, I haven't seen the show? There are four lead vocal parts, each representing the sides of MJ's personality. One of them is female, so she could actually do that! Oh god Alex, please don't do that!

Is Wicked still in the West End?
Could be Les Mis.

It depends what, by West End standards, do you consider a long runner? Would Beautiful be considered a long runner as it has run over two years? Or Book of Mormon as that has run like three/four years?
