Landi Oshinowo is exceptionally good as Deloris, probably the best I’ve seen. Sue Cleaver is very good and seems to be having fun. Eloise Runnette excellent as Sr Mary Robert & Alfie Parker very likeable as Eddie. I saw it a few weeks ago in Belfast and was brilliant as expected. I thought Sue Cleaver was brilliant as Mother Superior. But I was really surprised with her singing. She did tend to sing speak most of her lines but thought she had a lovely voice when she was probably singing. I’ll be interested to see Wendi Peters in the role but I know she will probably be brilliant. I was gutted we had an understudy for Deloris. I know they should still be good but this one just...wasn't. I found she lacked the emotions Deloris should have. I must be in the minority that I thought Sue was awful and I mainly went for her. Not a fan of sister act in general tbh.

She did sound pitchy and I thought she did lack emotion, though I did read somewhere that the night before was her first performance and it was a two show day I saw her so I did gave her the benefit of the doubt. I’m probably being biased with Sue because I watch Coronation Street. I thought she was brilliant overall but I know some people weren’t too impressed with her singing. She did speak sing most of her lines but I did think this was okay because I don’t really consider Mother Superior a big singer in the musical. Although I still think Lesley Joseph is the best Mother Superior I’ve seen.

I didn’t mentioned it in my last post which I should’ve had but what I meant was that I had an understudy when I saw the show the second time in Liverpool. I saw Landi twice as Deloris and thought she was excellent, though I still think that Sandra Marvin is my favourite person who I’ve seen played Deloris and I was gutted when she was ill when I saw it in Liverpool. The girl who was on didn’t quite blow me away as Sandra and Landi did but I did see that it was her debut the night before and I saw her on a two show day and I can understand how exhausting it can be having two shows in one day so I must’ve just caught her on her off day. I did think Sue was brilliant in general but when I compare her to Lesley Joseph and Ruth Jones I would’ve loved to her sing more in her songs because when she did actually sing I thought she had a beautiful voice. I loved Ruth as well but I feel like Lesley was the best Mother Superior because I feel that she’s been the one with the more experience and confidence.

Ah, if it was the same one as I had she sounded pretty much the same. Two show day isnt really an excuse.

I did think she was okay and but she wasn’t anywhere near Sandra or Landi. But since the night before I saw it was her first performance it could have just been nerves so maybe she was better in future performances she did.

Has anyone seen Wendi Peters as Mother Superior yet? Yes I saw her twice in Northampton. Lesley Joseph had the edge in terms of sarky sharp edge but Wendi was still very good and it was lovely to hear Mother Superior's songs sung properly.

I wished it was coming back somewhere near me because I always wanted to see Wendi in the role because I felt she would be a fab Mother Superior. Just out of interest does Wendi have any ad lib moments in the show or does she play it properly? Lesley Joseph, Ruth Jones and Sue Cleaver always had an ad lib moment in Haven’t Got A Prayer after the Saint Ignatius line (Sue had a little ad lib after the Saint Stephen line) and both Lesley and Sue ad libbed during the duet between Deloris and Mother Superior in Spread The Love Around.
