This obviously won’t be the sold-out smash with tickets at crazy prices that it was going to be when Whoopi was involved so do we think there will be rush tickets? There’s already some deals on TodayTix with decent seats at £45 or right at the back for £25 but I’m wondering if it’s worth waiting for an even better deal. I can’t remember if Nativity did rush at this venue to be honest.

Anyone know of any discounts floating around for Manchester? Or if they're likely to reduce single seats. Genuinely never seen more expensive tour tickets. Usually £85 would premium, not average price!

There’s a tenner off for Theatrecard holders on opening night, nothing else that I see. But it’s not sold that well so far, swathes of seats available in the week. Watch out for ATG and manchestertheatres.com offers.

Wasn’t that a fabulous performance on BGT?!?!?
RIP my credit card.

Beverley was excellent, not sure about the others. Thought it was quite stilted at the start but it picked up. Would still be interested in seeing it after the performance.

Thought it was a great performance. Although I won't be going as I don't like the Hammersmith Apollo for musicals. It's just too big.
And BGT winner? Not even funny.

It's not one of my favourite shows at all so won't be going to see it.Can't stand the Apollo either, it should just be used for concerts.

Lizzie Bea's note on "raise it uuuuuppppp" was a choice. I'm not sure if she has the range to hit that note or if it was a one off but it did not sound good.

She definitely did not hit the note that I am talking about though.

Anyone seen Sister Act in Manchester yet? I can’t find any reviews online.

I saw the show on its opening performance. Sandra Marvin is sensational. The cast really make the roles their own.
Jennifer Saunders plays Mother Superior with much more comedy than I have seen anyone do previous. She did really struggle to pitch her songs correctly. Hoping this improves as she grows used to singing with an orchestra.
Poor Keala Settle is so underused. I really hope she gets a major lead in something in the near future.
Clive Rose and Lizzie Bea are wonderful.

I saw the films a few times back in the 90s, but was put off the musical because they didn’t include any of the movie’s songs. Having seen yesterday’s day’s matinee clearly I was mistaken as it doesn’t need them. It must be a rare movie-to-stage adaptation that stands on its own, and I think it’s all the better for it.
I was disappointed that Beverly Knight wasn’t doing this pre-London run, but again, needn’t have been. Thought she was a bit shaky to start with, but Sandra Marvin was a great Delores and very funny too. Jennifer Saunders, not the best singer bless her, just about gets away with it as she pretty much steals every scene she’s in (and thankfully she’s not doing a Maggie Smith impression.) Great cast all-round though. Lizzie Bea in particular was a real stand-out, so should silence anyone above saying she can’t sing the role.
It’s very slick, and the lighting is great. Was surprised to read in the programme that the director’s mostly worked on Shakespearean stuff at the Globe. I think my only real problem with it is the ending. With there being no casino in the musical, there is therefore no escape/chase sequence, but what they replaced it with feels more like Home Alone than Sister Act and felt a bit jarring to me. (Loved Keala Settle’s bit though.) I also think the rainbow-coloured finale, with everyone head-to-toe in sequins, pushes the campness too far IMO.
I really enjoyed it overall though. It’s such a fun, uplifting feel-good show. (Though I’m sure people on here will s*** all over it when it opens in London 😂)

It's been years since I saw it at the palladium but I swear there was a chase of some sort? Not through a casino but maybe through the Abbey or something
Edit...yes there was, so guess thats one of the changes they've made

I saw this yesterday afternoon. It's a fun show and you can't go too far wrong with this score. Jennifer Saunders was the weak link singing wise and I thought it was a shame because there's so many talented older ladies who would give a stunning Haven't Got A Prayer. The rest of the cast were great.
There were quite a few minor changes made to the script and I don't really think any of them added anything. The new prologue felt messy and it was a shame the confessional booth scene at the start of Act 2 was cut. Take Me To Heaven had been shortened. I wasn't entirely sure why Eddie's nickname is now Steady Eddie rather than Sweaty Eddie. I also wasn't sure why they'd decided to rename to the church to Our Lady of Perpetual Suffering - Queen of Angels was just fine for me.
I know it was cut long before this production but I always think it's a shame that Do The Sacred Mass was cut. Without it, the bar scene feels a bit pointless.

I'd guess the change from sweaty to steady is due to sweaty being associated with sexual assault these days. And even if not, it's not exactly a nice trait to put on your romantic hero

There’s a 2 for 1 ticket offer on o2 Priority for the whole Hammersmith run, for Tues-Fri performances.

If the production uses largely the same score as its previous incarnation, you do have to wonder how Whoopi was going to do it!
