For anyone that is interested...!
I saw this last night again with Joanna Francis- I'd say the theatre was at least 3/4 full.
Joanna was really impressive. She has an excellent range in her voice; her vocals are gorgeous and just effortless. She's a great actress too and was really likable in the role. She definitely has a great career ahead of her. It was interesting to observe the differences between hers and Alexandra's performance. Joanna's performance is certainly more polished but both were very enjoyable.
Joe Vetch has grown on me as Eddie! I still felt that the first half drags a little, but the second is a joy.
The tour is finishing this week in Dublin but definitely worth a look if you haven't caught it yet.

I saw this earlier in the year and although it is an enjoyable evening out I didn't think it was as good as the Palladium show. I didn't see Alexandra Burke but the understudy was good. I also saw the understudy at the Palladium so I have never seen it with the 'star'.
The one song I was looking forward to most was 'How I got the Calling'. It is still in the show but has been rewritten and is quite different, I much prefer the original. I don't know what others thought about it?

I preferred the Broadway and first UK Tour choreography for it but that's it. It's Good To Be A Nun doesn't do the job that How I Got The Calling did. It doesn't set up the characters like Calling did. We learnt so much about Maries Patrick and Robert in that one number, which the new script doesn't replace elsewhere.

Yes I agree, I didn't even remember the name of the new song whoops! That was the highlight for me in the London show. I would have loved to have seen Patina Miller!

I saw her fifteen times, fourteen in London, once on Broadway. Cynthia was great too (although probably don't mention it to her nowadays). It's a shame really because Mary Patrick was such a big part of the London production (and the films) but the Broadway rewrite seemed to forget about her.

Sister Act movie cast reunite for one-off performance!
Few bum notes (possibly from Whoopi) but great fun!

I do love this show. I imagine it might follow 9 to 5 into the Savoy.

Sorry but the CRH production was terrible and Burke was terrible in it.
I’ll take the original production/tour or nothing thanks.

Is his version the one where the nuns played the instruments?
Is there really the demand for this to come around again? I've seen it several times in several forms and cannot imagine booking for it again, unless there was unexpectedly brilliant casting.

How desperate that this clunker is coming around again...the ever decreasing circles of regional touring MT.

It's a show I wouldn't mind seeing, but the last couple of times it's been in Bristol there was no ATG Theatre Card discount so I didn't bother.

The original was the best, a great fun show with some really good songs. But actor/musicians no way. Why does CRH always do that? Wonder why he hasn't suggested doing Annie with the kids playing the music?

If only ‘I Will Follow Him’ were the showstopping finale. That is a wonderful thing in the film.

I actually thought the nuns playing the instruments worked better than it sounds. It actually added a bit more fun to proceedings and worked very well in a lot of places. I didn't see the original but i have seen clips and pictures ect and theres no doubt the last tour was a lot more intimate and on a much smaller scale.
I would imagine that it would be the last touring version again. I don't mind seeing it again.

I wonder how this will affect amateur groups.
Sister Act has been doing great business for them over the past couple of years.
Another major tour won't be welcomed by them...

Burke was fine in the touring production and had fun with the role. The production was fine too. The original West End production was hardly Les Mis and, wonderful though Patina is generally, I didn’t love her in it. Sheila Hancock was miscast too, and Whoopi was a mess when I saw her in it.
The film was a comic masterpiece. The musical is just a bit of fun fluff.
