This is exactly what I said..She is absolutely entitled to her opinion, but considering that she is a "public figure", there is some decorum expected from the way she behaves online, which I think she lacks. Even her response to me is quite defensive.

I think I'd get a bit tired of people saying things like "pleassssssssssse will you be in xyz show it will make my entire liiiiiiiiiiffffe  Xxxxxxx xxxxxxx" What's wrong with these folk? Ate they a bit stupid or something? However it does looks like she finds it necessary to respond to this crap. Pull it back a bit Cyn love. I did have to laugh at the one suggesting she do Everybody's Talking About Jamie next though. "But that's in Sheffield" says Cynthia, tweeting from West Hollywood CA. Haha. |

I thought that tweet was suggesting it was an example of a new show, and she rather missed the point by dismissing it for being in Sheffield rather than the West End!
I agree that how she has worded some of her tweets isn't the best, but as far as the overarching point goes, I think she's entitled to her opinion and in this case I agree with it. I think she probably does reply to a few tweets that she should probably just let go, but a lot of time she's talking about important issues and advocating for minority rights of all types, which I admire and think is perfectly acceptable for her to do.

Exactly... American in Paris hasn't even opened yet, and I expect it will run well past the end of the UK Tour of Sister Act!

I think the Dominion would be way too big for this version of Sister Act, the original London version would certainly fit, but not the tour. Plus, I doubt it will be booked in since American in Paris hasn't even been given a chance yet! I can see it doing well so I take this rumour with a pinch of salt.

An American In Paris isn't doing great in terms of sales, but I feel it's going to be a Half A Sixpence-style show, in the sense that once it opens and reviews/word of mouth get out there, ticket sales will see a huge boost. For this reason, I would be surprised if Nederlander have another show booked. Saying that, every theatre owner wants a plan B in case their incumbent show falls flat, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're scouting the field.
I do agree that this iteration of Sister Act would be lost in the barn that is the Dominion, but with the right cast it's a hot ticket, so it probably could fill it.
Hmm, time will tell on this one.

Whatever happened to the Back to the Future musical? Wasn't that supposed to go to the Dominion or has it just been scrapped since Jamie Lloyd left? Sounded like it was going to be a great show!

American in Paris is going to be one of those shows that relies on the reviews and promotion heavily to shift tickets. It isn't doing awful, but it isn't doing too great either. But I agree with daniel in that it could well have a Half a Sixpence style way of finding the audience as the run progresses, having not sold too well prior. |

Also the Dominion is a barn, so depending on running costs An American in Paris might not actually have to get close to selling out to stay in the black.

One thing the West End doesn't need right now is another revival. It's becoming a home of mediocrity. Sister Act wasn't that great or that successful first time round! Would rather see Strictly Ballroom come in if I had to choose, at least it's a new show.

^The original West End production was launched with Patina Miller, who was relatively unknown at the time, and the UK tour had Cynthia Erivo at a time when she was unknown.
Also Craig RH's involvement would likely interest people.
So if Alexandra isn't available or isn't chosen to do it, I'm sure they'll manage!

Let's hope no one tells Alexandra she's got the gig at the Dominion. I'm not particularly familiar with An American In Paris but I'm pretty sure a lounge singer dressed as a nun, in hiding for her own protection, will be pretty difficult to shoehorn into that S'wonderful narrative.

I don't even think Alexandra is that amazing in it myself. Bodyguard tickets in the west end, didn't sell that well when she was in it. She does have her crazy fans, that will follow I suppose. I feel there's too much talent in the west end for this show to compete.

I don't think that's true, Hayley. If her West End run hadn't been a success, then she wouldn't have been asked to do the tour- which was a sellout, as has been with the Sister Act show.
She was only ever on for a short period in the West End for the Bodyguard as the show was finishing up in any event due to another show being booked in. I remember Dan Wootton did a story at the time which was discredited by the cast and producers.
As for crazy fans, there are probably only a small number who would book to see multiple shows. I think she has many casual fans . People do seem to be more likely to part with cash if there's a 'name' involved.
Just an observation, but for someone who has nothing good to say about AB, you do enjoy posting about her.

Sales rocketed, and that's when there were discussions about the show transferring to another venue, because they'd already lost the Adelphi to Made In Dagenham. The tour sold phenomenally well, as has Sister Act. Whatever anyone thinks about Alexandra's performance (I wasn't the biggest fan, personally), there is absolutely zero doubt that she sells tickets for whatever she is cast in, and a lot of them. |

I have to agree, I think no matter which way you look at it, Alexandra can sell tickets! She sold the West End run very well, and both tours have been met with success because of her mainly. If I remember rightly, when the tour was in Wimbledon where I saw it, it was pretty well sold the entire weeks run, which can't be said for every show that runs at the Wimbledon theatre. |

Its because of Alexandra the run in Dublin was completely sold out which is VERY unusual for the Bord Gais, that theate is gigantic (See Pic)! its even returning in September for a second week and instead of finishing the Saturday night they have added a matinee for the Sunday. ![]()  |
