It depends how long the run is in the WE. I doubt Alexandra would do a long run but if it was say 2-3 months, maybe she would do it? I think she should release new music too tho as well. I presume lots of producers want her for roles.
If it's touring again after WE, she certainly wouldn't do it.
Can see it possible going into a playhouse/smaller musical house rather than a huge theatre?

Wouldn't Alexandra better to leave the show and do something new. Just think she is wasted in that show.

If the tour ends in September, I would think it would want to be in a West End theatr by mid November to cash in on the Christmas kiddies

I just don't see this production, as good as the one that was in the west end, all those years ago. I just don't see, who would attend, as it's just been on a tour of the UK. She's right, we need something new.

that comment comes across, for lack of a better word, snobby. I'm assuming she means we need more new work to come in but didn't she just make her name in a revival of a new show thats only 10ish years old? You're classier than this, Cynthia!

She also really backlashes her fans when they comment on her Twitter. Like a man said "let's get Color Purple" and she just goes "you've had that". Don't know if it's just her personality but seems like she doesn't like any of her fans. Maybe Broadway changed her?

I don't think it comes off snobbish at all - it was only in the West End a few years ago and it's been running in the UK pretty much constantly since. I think it's pretty clear she means we need more new work, and I think a lot of people would agree with that!

In my opinion she seems snobbish now I don't know if she's changed or if she was always this way and we just didn't know. She belittles fans constantly argues with people on twitter and seems to think she's above certain things.

Don't know if it's just her personality but seems like she doesn't like any of her fans. Maybe Broadway changed her? Sorry for the double post - can't multi-quote on my phone. How exactly is that backlash? She's stating a fact, and that type of thing will always come across more bluntly in writing that it would in speech. I can see how it would be frustrating having to answer the same question numerous times when she's already made it pretty clear she is done with The Color Purple. I admit, I'm a fan, so I'm more inclined to defend her. I certainly don't agree with everything she says, but I think you're being unfair in judging her on a couple of tweets and conveniently ignoring the many others where she has engaged with fans in conversations and debates and thanked them. And as for not liking her fans/Broadway changing her, if you'd been at her concert a few weeks ago I don't think you'd have said that at all - I didn't get that impression at all from her then, either during the show or when I was able to briefly chat with her after. People can be very quick to judge written words without thinking about the potential multiple meanings behind them and how they might have been meant. Though of course that goes for writing too, it obviously works both ways.

She belittles fans constantly argues with people on twitter and seems to think she's above certain things. She has definitely changed, however I agree with the subsequent post that it may just be her way of writing that doesn't come across well. Maybe she's just learnt to be a more direct as she's grown older and more confident. That said, it does seem odd for her to have commented on this. By the time it comes back it won't have been in London for seven years (apart from Wimbledon). In a small house, I think it could do well as it's a name the tourists will want to see. I'm worried that it's this specific production they're choosing to bring it in with but maybe they'll pump a bit more money into it if it'll be on for a few months. I don't want people to be put off the show by a mediocre production. I don't think new work should be put on just for the sake of it. The sort of places where Sister Act could run are not the places to try out a new play or even some new musicals.

Just don't see why Alexandra Burke wanted to do this production. She is better than this.

Just don't see why Alexandra Burke wanted to do this production. She is better than this. I imagine they're pretty thrilled with how it's all worked out. The show has been well received by critics (not all fans of course) and has been pretty much a sell out. It's decent money for Alexandra and they'll probably do a cast recording. I do think they should strengthen the staging if it goes to the West End, and I would like to see a few more nuns to beef up the vocals. Maybe a bit more choreography rather than armography. It's a bit odd to say we need something new when there are shows playing in the West End for years... if breakfast at tiffanys, with pixie Lott, can go to the West End, this can!

The only "new" show she was in Lasted 6 weeks 😂😂😂 Not technically true, as when she did The Color Purple here it was new to the UK! To me she was simply making a general point about how it would be nice to have greater support for original works (which funnily enough is what a lot of people on this board have been saying in The Girls thread all week...) - she even said in the same tweet that she loved doing Sister Act, so she's not being dismissive of the show itself, just simply saying she'd personally rather that a lot of space in the West End wasn't taken up with a lot of revivals of shows that are playing all over the country anyway!

I agree that perhaps we shouldn't judge too much, after all you're all right you can't judge tone via words on a screen (thats why we need to be careful how we word things as we've learnt from other celebrities!!)
All I will say is, to quote Pushing Daisies, the facts are these: Sister Act closed Broadway 2012 and West End 2010 The Colour Purple closed Broadway 2008 with their revival of the London production in 2015. (Their third National tour opened 2012 not sure when it closed)
TCP had been off Broadway for 7 years. If SA came in this year it will have also been off West End for 7 years. While some of her fans may have tweeted her if she would be involved in it, I have seen no news outlets attaching her to the project, and she shouldn't say we need something new when she's just made her name in something that has been out of the big public eye for just as long!
And Parsley, no need to insult her on trivial things.

I like her as a performer, I've seen her in multiple shows and I think she is great. Saw her in concert once, and though the singing was spectacular, the banter was horrible and she was boring.
Social media wise, I find her insufferable. I totally stopped following her dumb workout videos, her comments or whatever she has to say. I don't need to like her as a person to enjoy her as a performer.
This remark, I think would have been fine if it was a random person. But for a person in the the industry, I feel that her comment could be quite insulting to her colleagues who are touring the show and are probably thrilled they will be on the West End. I would expect a colleague, especially someone like her who has been so successful, to be a bit more together, diplomatic and considerate to others. Yes, she's entitled to her opinion of course, and I don't disagree with her in this instance at all. But she should also know that some opinions make her sound like an asshole.

I don't know what's wrong with this production. I really enjoyed it personally. Maybe because i didn't see the original but even so. I do not get the criticism at all.
I'm not quite we need the "this isn't a good production, why is she in this" a million times. I think we get the picture. And actually i don't think Alex is "better" than this, sorry. Because I think she fits the role and the production very well. She is miles better in this than she was in the bigger show The Bodyguard if you ask me..

I see she's answered your tweet and I think made it clearer that she was trying to make general point about West End theatre that I think a fair few of us probably agree with - she just didn't choose her initial words carefully enough. She's as entitled to comment on theatrical matters as anyone else, just because she's an actress doesn't bar her from that. It's no different to someone on here saying, for example, that they wish Thriller would close to free up a theatre for something new (as people frequently do!). There is a whole cast who would be affected by that too, and while we can obviously sympathise with the thought of people losing their jobs, I don't think that has to stretch as far as not expressing an opinion that certain shows shouldn't be in the West End - that's just opinion, which we're all entitled to and which are never going to be universal. And I'd say that even if I didn't like the performer in question. Just my opinion though. Personally with the right cast I'd be happy to see Sister Act in London as I didn't last time, but equally I enjoy discovering new shows as well, or revivals that were last done so long ago they are practically new shows. Each to their own though.
