Ok, where has the sun gone to? Nothing but miserable weather at the moment. Just some sunshine would be nice for a few days.

Rumour is that we may get a taste of summer towards the end of next week but today definitely felt like we had fast forwarded to autumn.

I am enjoying this cool & wet weather, albeit from indoors with some heating! I know in a couple of months when it's 30 degrees I'll be looking back on this weather & wishing it had continued.

Has the media forgotten that, in the UK, the year starts cold, sometimes very cold, gets hotter, then goes cold again?
Although you wouldn't think so from the way it's being reported, it's not at all unusual for the end of May to be warmer than the beginning; nor is it unusual for June to be warmer than May.

I can't work out why 24 degrees feels hotter this year. Is it that I'm out of practise, I have moved house and my new house appears to be located on the surface of the sun or just that I'm more complainy this year?!

Maybe it's the sudden change from col to very warm. This time last week I was still having the heating on, albeit for only an hour a day. Then in only a couple of days the temperature seemed to suddenly skyrocket so there's not yet been time to acclimatise. Not that I ever really acclimatise to the heat, as in I always dislike it, but if you've suffered a week of 30 degrees plus then 25 degrees seems good by comparison, whereas 25 degrees coming from 15 degrees seems awful.

It's weirdly cool downstairs in my house today. Outside it's 23°; in my south-facing living room it's 19°. It feels quite chilly coming in from somewhere warmer, as opposed to a week ago when 19° felt wonderfully warm.

Meanwhile, in the grim north nothing comes between us and a day at the beach! Scarborough wouldn't be Scarborough without its frets.

It’s 28.8 inside my flat today, I had to shut the balcony door as someone was smoking a cigar and the stink was too much. I long for a return to air conditioned offices, although not the stuffy tube journey to get there.

I don't know how much a difference it makes to temperature but the lack of air pollution is making a difference to the brightness / scorching ability of the sun where I live. Plants that are normally quite happy with the light levels here got scorched leaves in the last spell of sunny weather.

Well, today has been a major disappointment. In anticipation of it being a scorcher, I got all my manly chores out if the way yesterday, but we've only had half an hour of sun this afternoon.
No sooner had I rolled up the legs on my chinos than the clouds rolled in. Thank goodness I hadn't gone to the trouble of changing into my very stylish 3/4 length shorts.

It's been a gloriously sunny day in Central London - had to come in to get my vaccine and then spent much of the rest of the afternoon lazing in the park!

What's the earliest acceptable date to put the heating on? Not 21 June, I'm guessing.
The weather is playing havoc with sales of Scotch eggs. I've just bought four for 25p...that's 25p for the lot, not each!
Tea will be a substantial meal, that's for sure.

Although I am very fond of Doncaster market, we have already established, BurlyBeaR, that men of a certain age should not wear T-shirts with writing on. Now if you'll excuse me, I have three Bakewell tarts and the Metro waiting for me.

DO NOT leave home, BurlyBeaR. Drop the Austrian blinds and spend the day cocooned in your luxury loft apartment tastefully decorated in grey, teal and sunburst yellow. I don't think I've ever seen so much brilliant white flesh and inappropriate shortage! Even Mater commented. "Did you see his shorts?" she asked, as we walked to her singing group this morning. To be fair, she did have a point, I just wish she hadn't 'whispered' quite so loudly when he was still very much within earshot!

I was on my way over to sheffield by 9.30am and spent most of the day helping mummy through medical thingies. Interestingly one of these took place literally across the street from the world famous Crucible Theatre. I could almost smell the greasepaint melting. I of course thought of you, and your cut price knock off mr Kipling fancies which are no doubt also melting. Mummy looked askance when I polled up in shorts (Polo by Ralph Lauren before you ask) but I brushed off her concerns with a promise of fish and chips for tea. I got her the earliest chip supper in history - 4.30pm (and believe me there was a queue in front of me) and left her happily tucking in. Now back in Manc where the sun shines on the righteous.

Blisteringly high UV levels across most of the country today, apart from west Scotland.
I have a 1½ hour drive early this afternoon, heading east so the sun will be on my right. I'll need plenty of sun cream to survive that.

There will plenty of people resembling lobsters at Silverstone today I suspect!

Boiling in the west end and problems with the central line in both directions. But did manage to get a new pair of Raybans with 50% discount so will make the most of them. Also the air con in the Palladium was wonderful.
