Ahh king cones, far more choc in the bottom than a cornetto.
An ice cream van has been visiting but I can’t bring myself to visit it. Never thought them the cleanest of places, but a cider lolly would be lovely.

Today is going to be a long day. Give me rain, hail, snow, an ice bucket, just give me something other than this. I’ve moved my working-from-home office outside into the shade and I still feel like I’m stuck on the central line.

Had to walk across town this afternoon. Factor 50 sun cream. That's basically paint.

We've just had our 5 minutes of rain, and very welcome it was while it lasted. I sheltered under a tree, which I certainly wouldn't have done during lightning, but we only had thunder.
Blinking hot again now, mind, and the asphalt on the road is steaming.

I am sitting on the couch in my living room with a large electric floor fan aimed directly at my face. It's like trying to work in a wind tunnel.
(The desk, unfortunately, is in a corner where it's impossible to aim a fan that big at it.)

I've taken to putting a couple of large plastic bottles of water in the freezer then one of them sits bobbing about happily in a bowl of cold water along with my feet! Once that one has melted I swap them over and so on - it may not look elegant but it works!

On this very day last year, the UK recorded its highest ever temperature, just up the road from our Dawnstar. No danger of the record being broken this year, at least not in God's own county. Sitting outside the pub, I've admitted defeat and put on my very stylish sweater! |

TallPaul I already posted on Twitter earlier how glad I am that today is about 17 degrees cooler than this time last year! Especially as last year I had the benefit of work's air con - and I stayed at work until just before the building shut at 7pm - whereas this year no work = no aircon. I am currently gazing with pleasure at the heavy rain which has been falling since about 3pm. Now I just hope August doesn't get revenge by being boiling!

We had about three drops of rain walking home! It's going to be mostly scorchio in August, especially on my birthday, before cooling slightly in London on the 31st. 😉 For the sake of the hospitality and tourism sectors, and the hundreds of thousands of jobs they support, I kinda hope it is.
Best to stay indoors and watch the snooker from the world-famous Crucible Theatre! 🙂

I'm afraid my hopes are rather different to yours! I haven't watched snooker for years but can remember watching it on a black & white TV as a child (I'm not actually that old, we're just rather late adopters of technology!).Snooker was certainly interesting when you couldn't see the different colours of the balls! I'm more likely to be staying indoors watching F1, plus cycling when the TdF eventually gets going.

I'm getting my car repaired today. I'm going to have to walk 50 minutes to the garage to pick it up. It's 30°C in the shade here at the moment.
Bones can't melt, can they? I'm pretty sure bones can't melt.

I believe bones get bleached, once they've been picked clean by vultures - maybe that bearded vulture that's turned up in the Peak District could oblige! Coincidentally, my mother's car is being MOTed today. Fortunately the garage is returning it. Though I'm rather envying your 30 degrees; we're currently at 34. Forecast to still be 24 degrees at midnight. Not anticipating getting any sleep tonight.

At a steady pace, my walk home normally takes about 45 minutes. If it's really cold, I can do it in 40 minutes. Today, with two heavy bags of shopping, and a mid-hill rest under a tree, it's just taken me 1 hour 10 minutes!
