I'm not too sure if I am a fan of Alice's voice in the role. I don't know what it is and I will of course reserve full judgement until I see her personally in the role as audio can be misleading. and folks wonder why Wicked are sick to the back teeth of people uploading audios.

It's hard to wade in when every single post is about how many times posters have seen it and who their favourite Elphabas/Glindas/Boqs/Chisterys/etc are. In fact, it doesn't make me want to post here at all. If you don't like the topics you can either try to bring in your own topic, or just not read this thread. It's up to you. I'm sure most people would love to talk about other aspects of the show. But it's easy to critisize the aspects that are discussed here when you yourself make no effort whatsoever to discuss other aspects. I don't mean it in a negative way. I'm just saying be the chance you want to see. Fair enough pointone but I don't think you can expect new posters to steam on in and ignore what seems to be the main Wicked thread on this board. If it was named the "Wicked casts and/or how many times I've seen the show" thread, I'd know to avoid it. The post above about not liking someone's performance despite not having actually even seen it pretty much sums up the problem!

If I had known my comment would have started two pages worth of arguments I wouldn't have posted it...

I can't remember what my first post was but I didn't think twice about posting about things that I found interesting. Everything related to Wicked can be discussed here. Just because the current topic is certain cast members doesn't mean that topic can't change immediately. Post about what you want to talk about and I'm quite confident that other people will respond to it.

Does the show itself get discussed anywhere, or is this "who's playing who" thread the only forum for it? If you want to discuss just tell us what you want to discuss and we'll discuss Personally, I think the midwife needs a bigger part. I just LOLed. Recused - what would you like to see us chat about? A few pages ago there was a chat about the melting scene and why when Elphaba melts does Dorothy not see her go down a trapdoor - and if her magic was real why would she need a trapdoor etc.... is it this kind of chat you would like to see? I'm sure we could all go for a few pages about the legtitimacy of the magic in the story. Not gonna lie, one of the main reasons I come here is to see if there's any cast news, i.e. When Alice is on etc. Personally, I don't think the midwife comment got enough air time. Seems to be a running theme for her....

Rachel does have holiday dates they just haven't been announced yet Where has that info come from? Alice told one of my mates that Rachel has a couple of holiday dates so Alice will be scheduled for those

The melt riff was back but that was it. James Darch was on as Fiyero and I liked. Nice voice, nice chemistry. When he first walked on a lady behind said "oh! He's fit!" He is! Martin Ball was the Wizard and I wasn't a fan, too dull for me. Missed Mark Curry's cheeky Wizard. Russell Walker was Dillamond and he was perfectly fine but I missed him in his other roles, he still played the witches father as well though. Sadly no fifth cover midwife! Anita Dobson was not great but the audience love her. Suzie is a dream and has such a great partnership with Rachel. It amuses me that Boq is taller than Glinda. Even when she is in heels! At some points it didn't seem like it was Rachel, she is different every time, she certainly never phones in a performance. It's such a transformation from start to finish and such a pleasure and a masterclass to watch her perform.

What on earth is the BMD RIFF?
It sounds like an X Factor Boyband.

I Googled it and am none the wiser (just a lot of "OMG. The BMD RIFF. I died etc." Which doesn't really help) but I did discover there is a beer available called Wicked Riff! Who knew?! They should sell this in the Apollo Victoria www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/28665/80983/

Taking an educated guess, I think they are talking about the vocal riff Elphaba's perform on the Defying Gravity phrase "Bring....me.....down" = BMD!

She was fantastic. In my mind she can't be beaten. Her vocals were just effortless. Definitely worth seeing.
And she usually did 8 shows a week as far as I remember.

I thought Willemijn was great, but she isn't one of my favourite Elphaba's. But it may be more because there is so much hype surrounding her that it mat of ruined my viewing of her slightly. She was in fine voice and acted the role great though.

Willemijn was very vocally consistent and had it not been for her back injury I doubt that Emma would have gone on more than 30 times in her run. I wish this was the cast as it might have meant Emma would have never got the lead. Oh well!

Kara Lindsay is taking over from Carrie St.Louis on Broadway. Such uninspired casting. She's good, but she literally just left. And some people are unhappy with the "boring" casting in London. This is worse imo. At least Rachel and Willemijn hadn't been in the production for a few years.

I know this might surprise everyone as I'm usually heading the "fresh blood" brigade, but I'm incredibly happy that Kara Lindsay is returning. I only ever saw her once and was blown away. She's by far the best and funniest Glinda I ever saw and I'd be even more thrillified if she eventually became our West End Glinda. Or Alli Mauzey. This is worse imo. At least Rachel and Willemijn hadn't been in the production for a few years. Both were playing Elphaba on Broadway before they joined the London production. Yes, technically different productions, but still the same part.
