Definitely! People are saying Avenue Q only won the award because they needed it to stay open. I'm sorry, but I thought the whole point of giving out awards was to honor the best. Maybe Avenue Q simply had the better score and the Tony Voters simply preferred it over Wicked? I don't think there's a conspiracy theory hidden somewhere.

I like both, but if I had to choose one, I'd vote for Avenue Q. The score or the show Michael? I was referring to the scores, but now that you ask: both actually. I really like Wicked, but I like Avenue Q even more.

I haven't listened to avenue q in a while, and Wicked very recently, so I dont feel very qulified to say, but as a whole score I can't remmeber much of Q.

It's still a big guy show. It doesn't matter which big guy. And Wicked isn't Disney.

Lin wasn't well known, Seller isnt that big a deal, no star in the production, the subject wasnt popular, the musical style isnt popular on Bway. Its the very definition of the little guy making it big (and Ill be the last to toot Hamiltons horn) And Wicked WAS Disney prorperty- Schwartz started ot as a film project for disney. And it does have that feel (and I love Wicked) of a disney mega show. You seem invested in this arguement pointoine but you are wrong on this count.

So was Alex Lacamoire. And Wicked WAS NOT Disney property. It was a film project for Universal. You are wrong on this count

Almost sure.. lol EDIT maybe Im mixing it up with that artist that imagined up Wicked as an animation... Im confused lol

Why? Because Broadway was celebrating creators invention? Perhaps? Because the rest of the season was dramaticly weak? Probably (that choreo award was Savion's though, still angry) Wicked on the other hand was not well recieved with the critics or the industry (many actors were vocal about how they thought the cocept would tank) and yet it was succesful, much like Disney mega musicals- this is where the comparison draws I think. While Avenue Q was the little guy. And I do think still Wicked deservex best score- but I am going to give Q a listen soon, maybe Ill change my mind.

Jodie Steele (Standby for Elphaba on the tour) has tweeted that she's going to London. Seems unusual that she would have time off from the tour this early on...could she be on emergency cover?

And surely with the current Elphie crisis is it wise them adding an extra 2 matinees in August?! They're struggling to manage 8 shows let alone do two extra 9 show weeks!

It's the school holidays - probably the peak season for Wicked, so they're bound to have extra shows during this part of the year. I hardly think the health of their Elphabas came into consideration when they chose to do the extra shows, as they still had 3 healthy Elphabas at that point!

Not sure. Don't they do a Sunday matinee there?

I think they normally do a Sunday matinee but not this week - looks like Rachel leaves today and Jenny starts on Monday (I thought they didn't usually do Mondays, but that's the information I've found!)

Rachel's last show is today (tonight)! Through the summer Wicked Bway has a show on Monday instead of their usual Sunday.
