Idina's voice was different for YEARS after she finished Wicked (and in the role too- starting a few months in) I think she has a more solid technique now (in If/Then) but it is different for sure... Yeah, it was audible at the Tony performance and the Royal Variety. At the Royal Variety performance she was literally screaming to get the high notes. And it did not sound healthy at all.

there is defenite wear on Rachel voice too- not in a very damaging way, but it definetly sounds a bit more hoarse, at least to me.
That said- she has definetly kept good voice over the years. Same goes for Christine Dwyer who's been with the show for a while, Willemijn, Eden Espinosa, Carmen Cusack... I don't if it's strong vocal chords or good technique or both- but they managed to come out of long runs in Wicked with their voice in place.
That said- it is a taxing role, and i don't understand why the s/b doesn't get at least one schedualed show a week- it would save everyone a big headache in the long run.

They need to seriously look at having an alternate Elphaba as this is getting silly. 8 shows a week is too many. Laura is on holiday and Natalie McQueen hurt her leg during Saturday's matinee. Emma slipped down some stairs. Ok so Nat A is out now apparently with illness but that can't be put down to Elphie as she was very rarely on! Yeah ok there are some noticeable and sad references to people being vocally strained by the part but that's not a case here as I understand it and no one could have predicated this happening - even when they supposedly released Nat A from her contract!

I seem to recall there was a similar spell to this though not quite as bad last summer

If they did release Natalie A from her contract, and knew Laura had a schedueled vacation coming up- then having 2 Elphabas in the company is just stupid of the producers, even if just for a week. It was bound to happen (Murphy's laws yo)

Someone told me Natalie A left due to throat infection. Similar to what happen to Stephanie Mckeon in the Commitments before Cast Change.

Natalie M seems to be on holiday next week, or at least part of it, so "Which Witch" excitement may be set to continue!

Natalie M has tweeted someone that she hopes to be back at the end of this week, all being well with her knee.

Haven't seen any tweets so I would assume Emma is back on today?

Looking at the official Twitter account - the message from the London company to the touring company, Michelle already has her green make up on. Maybe she's on again today.

Somebody's after an Oscar... He has already won three... Like anyone could ever get enough of winning Oscars. I think he should invest his time in winning a Tony and an Emmy, so he can complete is EGOT

I still think it's a travesty he hasnt won that Tony for Wicked- it was the strongest score that year.

I still think it's a travesty he hasnt won that Tony for Wicked- it was the strongest score that year. Definitely! People are saying Avenue Q only won the award because they needed it to stay open. I'm sorry, but I thought the whole point of giving out awards was to honor the best.
There's still hope for Stephen winning a Tony. If the Hunchback of Notre Dame opens on Broadway in a year without a new Lin-Manuel Miranda show, they just might win best score.

Avenue Q won that (and best musical) because a. People hate the big guy- the machine musical to get the award b. Avenue Q was campaigning for those awards like nobodies buisness- there are great articles on what they pulled during that tear, inc. Promising to launch a tour (to reel the out-of-town votes) that never happened. Im sure some people preffered Avenue Q, but I have no doubt them campaigning worked big time.
