Aladdin is currently booking up to February 9. With the new film coming out in December it won’t perfectly coincide but I can see it shifting seats because of it. I suppose as long as the booking period is open by then it will work for them. Shame about Aladdin if this happens but I’d love to see Mary Poppins in that theatre, it would be glorious.

Mary is coming - I was at a party with Cameron last month and he confirmed but was shy about the venue. That’ll be a first. Would you like to tell us, the proletariat, how you come to be hobnobbing with Sir Cam? Was the Mamma Mia 2 Premiere after show party in the church opposite Hammersmith Apollo. Yes I met Cher and Meryl too. Fabulous night.

I'm always surprised that poppins had such a relatively short run in London.I loved it and saw in in various locations on tour, and preferred the touring set. And actually the most impressive and lengthy flight was at the Manchester Palace, though with all these old Victorian theatres, if you were sat at the back of the stalls you'd be lucky to glimpse her. I still find the stagecraft of that final flight fare more impressive and emotionally moving than the heavy handed Defying Gravity of you know what. I find that scene so clumsy and unsubtle.

Cameroon Mackintosh did say in the Hamilton programme, that he originally intended to put Mary Poppins in the Victoria Palace for the re-opening, until Hamilton came along, so it was always on the cards.
Saying that I wasn't aware that Aladdin sales have slowed to warrant closing, if it did go in the Prince Edward, I hope they use the original set, rather than the 'flimsy' touring one. I do like Poppins and has great stage craft in it.
Edit: Just looked at a seat plan for Aladdin on Saturday evening on 1st September, so still school holidays and the sales look horrific and further performances in September look even worse.
Could it open to coincide with Mary Poppins 2. Aladdin hasn't been doing too great for a while now! There was a period of time back in... May or June? Where for Mon-Thurs performances the Upper Circle was completely closed off!

The new film is out at Christmas so it would be daft to not bring the musical out of retirement.

Mary Poppins will now be opening at its original home- the Prince Edward. What a waste of a big theatre. Ho hum. Is this confirmed? Source? Oh yeah like I’m going to say on here who my source(s) are. As someone said, nothing is 100% confirmed until it’s announced , but as of right now- it’s heading to the Prince Edward. Aladdin isn’t doing great business and the belief is that the film coming out will mean people will want to see the show again. Not so sure myself but what do I know?!

The Aladdin movie is out next year so that could help the show if Disney wants to hold on a few more months

Exactly, and we don’t want to discourage people from sharing advance info, I don’t think we have a problem here with people deliberately posting stuff as fact when it’s not so, ce la vie etc!

Perhaps Barnaby's posts could come with a disclaimer? Even if Cameron himself were posting information on here that wasn’t released to the general public it should still be caveated. How seriously you take the information that’s provided is up to you, but I hardly see this as proof that Mr B is unreliable.

How seriously you take the information that’s provided is up to you, but I hardly see this as proof that Mr B is unreliable. the issue maybe more the defensiveness Mr Barnaby has sometimes when anyone questions or doubts him. As people have said, things change. If you stick around a forum for a while it's easy to pick up who is generally 'in the know' without people going 'I told you I knew'. Daniel is clearly in the industry but he always seems pretty chilled about it

Love the fact we get insider info but if I was the boss of Mr Barnaby or Daniel I'd be very displeased! Naughty!

Poppins was genuinely booked into the Adelphi and the plans changed- as they often do.
Nothing is ever 100%certain until it’s announced- I can add that as a disclaimer ? Or not share my gossip at all if preferable?!

We poke fun and tease but at the end of the day, we are a bunch of theater nerds who come together to share our passion.
Even parsley...we love to not love him but its what makes the world turn with different opinions.
Now if we could only get Jane McDonald in something for Daniel
